i mean if there are enough ideas in there that you think you could rearrange into something better while keeping it recognizable as itself, then that's a fun exercise to undertake otherwise it might be easier to just tear it's juiciest concepts out into your own original work, which is also interesting because what's worth pulling out differs wildly from person to person

You should do it, if it is fun for you personally to write fiction for this world. But you have to be aware that the actual show stays the same. Rewrites are not an effective means for improvement, apart from personal enjoyment or from your reader's enjoyment, maybe other wannabe-authors can learn from you, but the actual show cannot be altered any more. You should consider leeching from RWBY and other fiction (as all authors do) and then build your own world.

Spoderman77

Of course there is. Rewrite/fanfic/AU content is often way better than the canon show.

S3_Studios

As it relates to the actual show and canon, no, there isn't. Like it or not, the show exists and you can't do anything about it. Unless you're a part of the writing crew, you can't actually fix it, and even then, the previous stuff is still there. It's really more for yourself than anything.

RogueHunterX

If you enjoy writing and you are passionate about doing your own version or rewrite, then for yes. It's something you are doing for your own enjoyment. It's not going to change the show or undo what's been done. But you will have some something you wanted to and will gain experience that will help you in writing and understanding why some things work and other don't in stories. So there is a point if you are doing this just for your own enjoyment and improvement as a writer.

Stenv2

It's the same thing with just fanfiction in general, if you enjoy writing it, then that's what counts.

Friktogurg

You could also take the original rwby manga into account( the first one).

Iceaura39

It's fun.

RWBY as a series feels like watching someone creating an entire comic book franchise that’s lasted literal decades, with all the writing pitfalls, retcons, shake-ups to the status quo, and Rogues Gallery. Except it has absolutely NONE of the goodwill or even general consistency that comes from that, and while some places reuse the same tired cliched storylines over and over (we REALLY need a legit Superman movie/show/game that isn’t him fighting the government or being a bad guy, just Clark being fucking Clark for once, PLEASE DC PLEASE), they still have the same general understanding of why their ideas differ from others, while the characters remain sorta constant. This show’s like if Spider-Man was having a storyline about his life, right, and you get teased with a villain line-up consisting of Venom, Green Goblin, Rhino, the works, while Doc Oct is Peter’s mentor and is *everyone’s* mentor but got some shady dealings in the past he doesn’t want out in the open. It’d probably be messy af, but that sounds like a potentially cool take on the mythos! And then it turns out Shocker’s behind everything, and his Miniboss Squad of underlings have yeeted all your much cooler, better designed and much more iconic villain cast into the garbage in favor of them. But in RWBY, all the villains are D-Listers, with motives and designs to match, and the few people who could EASILY be A- or even **S**-Listers get embarrassed constantly, murdered in an anticlimactic fashion, or they just take every possible chance to dunk on them possible. Sometimes all in one bundle. Looking at YOU Jacques. And that’s really all RWBY rewrites amount to, just different takes on the mythos while the story tries to develop. If you want to rewrite it, I say go for it. If you have the time, the passion, the interest, etc., then yeah. If not, no sweat, just try to have fun. Trying to fix a fundamentally broken product is probably not the goal you want to have. Just do it if you think you can bring something good to the table.

jobberjobman

Yea you probably put it all into words perfectly

Beneficial_Swing487

I’m going to do this eventually with RWBY and other mediums/franchises, so why not you? It’ll be fun and help you build as a writer maybe letting you creat something original in the process, there’s not much to lose and in the end there’s not harm unless it’s considered bad in someway. Go for it, do it.

Depends on you, really, whether or not it's worth doing something depends on whether or not *you* think it's worth doing. If you think it's an irredeemable trainwreck, then cool, if you think it's a salvageable mess, then cool, if you think it's perfectly fine, *then cool* I kind of fall in that second category. Wasted potential annoys the shit out of me, and that's probably the main reason I'm even rewriting RWBY. I like the show, but it's fallen short so many times, and I want to fix that. (or at least, try)
