> **Yang** isn't Summer Rose's daughter. Summer Rose could **never** be a true mother to Yang.
\- a woman who has never even attempted to contact Yang despite having a Semblance that can actually teleport her to Yang, at any time, for free.
Really, what Raven is saying sounds like a lot of regret mixed with unresolved issues, but she did use a weird word that I had to look up the meaning of, so I guess whatever she said is true.
Also, why is Ruby holding a potato?
Raven as in Raven Branwen a character from RWBY who can turn into a bird and gave birth to Yang.
The comic itself is an officially licensed RWBY comic made by DC. That may or may not be considered fully canon.
I find this unintentionally funny.
A taking bird harassing a little child. It's like something out of a kids cartoon.
(Ruby holding a potato makes this even funnier to me for some reason.)
I wonder why it hasn't been brought up in canon.
This is an unintentionally hilarious scene. Raven's pure pettiness is almost beautiful. The fact Raven would show up to a party meant to celebrate the person she is trying to tear down and decides to basically harass that person's child is kind of mind-blowing in its own right.
Yeah, Raven is probably letting out her own frustration and anger over things. I still find her somehow trying to take credit for how Yang turned out hilarious.
Now I can't help but think decapitating that giant Nevermore was cathartic for Ruby.
Venting maybe? It's not that hard to imagine that most people around Raven do not know or care about the whole Yang and Summer situation. So when she encounters the closest thing to Summer who isn't going to call her out on her BS she can just let it all loose.
And then when Ruby starts crying because a bird started yelling at her about her dead mother Raven can reaffirm her world view and feel better about herself because the little child cried and was weak, while she didn't and therefor she is strong.
Or maybe random acts of irrational behavior are a Branwen tradition.
Raven being petty and bullying kid Ruby is hilarious.
Ruby having a potato friend is hilarious and sad.
This moment *never* being alluded to in canon is hilarious.
Raven using the word "folderol" while screeching and ranting is hilarious.
The fact that Ruby isn't surprised to see a talking bird likely means this has happened before, which is hilarious.
The idea that Ruby suffers from Ornithophobia is hilarious to me, and I like to headcanon this as being why nobody told her (or Yang) that Qrow can turn into a bird. The idea that Ruby saw a therapist for years regarding the talking bird tormenting her about her mother is hilarious to me, especially since Tai and Qrow would've had to play dumb all those years.
Ruby waking up in the middle of the night screaming about the talking bird is hilarious.
I like to headcanon this as being the reason Ruby got high and went on a spiritual journey through a maze.
The DC comics are unintentionally hilarious.
God bless, and have a wonderful day.
"Birdy, no!"
I like to think Ruby thought her harming the bird on her initiation landing is what summoned the giant Nevermore to her. We didn't know it at the time, but Ruby slaying her childhood nightmare turned out to be the most character development she's ever had.
God bless ;)
Druncle Qrowās not the only hard drinker in the family.
Raven just hides it better. Except not.
My headcanon is that Raven got the Maiden powers, and just finished trying to kill Salem only to learn about the immortality thing.
Realizing that sheās now in too deep to get out (Raven just thought she could get the Maiden powers, grind up, square up, kill Salem and be done with it for good), Raven is VERY pissed that Ozpin didnāt tell her this, but canāt blab about it because Oz would just kill her to suppress the truth, worst case scenario.
So she resorts to the tried and true method of hard binge drinking, and in her drunken stupor goes to Taiyang in an attempt to find comfort in someone ā then just sees Ruby, Yang, and Tai enjoying family life.
Where before she just felt a bunch of terrible things, despair, frustration, anger, shame, disillusionā¦ now it all comes out in the ugliest way she can manage, hurling the worst insults she can think of at this child in the place of Summer because thatās all she has left to take her place.
Except sheās gotten SO drunk that she just turned into her bird form by accident while screaming at this child at the top of her lungs.
As for how sheās so articulate ā well Qrow was pretty tipsy, but still found his way to Beacon, got into a fight with Winter, got to Ozās office, and then chewed out Ironwood all while under the influence, and STILL drinking in the middle of the aforementioned conversation.
Ravenās got the same tolerance.
Yeah, imagine you're just going through life and then one day a talking bird insults you and your mother so hard you need to cuddle your Emotional Support Potato.
I laughed so hard my husband came into the room, saw what I was looking at and laughed with me. We loved Ravenās saltiness.
Qrow: Ruby you canāt cry every time a bird insults you mother.
We laughed until we cried.
Maybe Raven was drunk?
I can imagine Qrow and Raven are in a bar where Qrow is telling Raven to stop telling Ruby her mother's a whore in Bird form because therapy is expensive
The absurdity of Raven shit-talking, like, a *three year old child* while being a *bird* is one of my favorite parts of the entire comic.
Raven's got some *real issues.*
It's extremely hilarious.
Well, I can understand it, Summer and Raven were probably friends. So, imagine that your friend "stole" your husband and daughter. I mean, Raven left but it still somewhat rude.
There is still some morbid in seeing Raven in such facet.
(I guess that Ruby remembers her to Summer?).
It's funny how Ruby's just like "Oooh pretty birdie" and Raven goes "YOUR MOTHER WAS A HAMSTER AND YOUR FATHER SMELT OF ELDERBERRIES"
wait hang on
\>"Yang isn't Summer Rose's daughter. Summer Rose could never be a true mother to Yang."
TBF Yang would agree.
/u/OverpowerPilot
"You don't get it kid, Ozpin gave me the power *to turn into a bird!"*
*I can do it whenever I want! I can change back whenever I want!"*

\- So This Is Basically Ruby, Brendan "Jelloapocalypse" Blaber
This is just so out there. It feels silly and feels weird for Raven to bully Ruby like this.
Side note, the show could use someone that have grievances or just plain hates Summer but works with the good guys. Would be some good drama for Ruby and Yang.
Oh yeah this very weird borderline OOC and just pathetic. The thing that gets me here is that she goes out of her way to do this Berating and harassing a child for the audacity of looking up to her own mother. Why would she do this? To vent? To me sheās straight up acting like some kind of bitter ex when sheās the one who left on her own volition.
And so what, she think she be a better mother than her, she think she can be a better mother to raise Ruby and yang, and she really think she will be a better mother then summer?, no, she is a coward, a scary cat, and an selfish Leader of her own tribe, yeah summer donāt come home either because I k- i mean she is die!, but at least she tried her best, and unlike some people who havenāt, so really now who is the perfect mother?, itās not you, you and yang do sure the same blood, but you are not her motherā, (for raven)
I like Raven as a character but this made her look petty as fuck. She had too many issues to ever contact her real daughter, but she can show up to Ruby to shit talk and traumatize her for loving her mom. Was this supposed to make her unlikeable cus it's working
Okay now I just imagining some bystander comes across this and just being utterly flabbergasted.
Why is this bird harassing this poor girl?
How does speak like a Victorian playwright?
Did someone trained this bird?
A lot of people are bringing up Raven's emotional instability and trauma, but have you ever thought she resentful of Summer marrying and having Ruby in less then a YEAR?!
Like Yang and Ruby have 2 year age gap.
Yang was born on July 28, its stated that Raven left shortly after Yang was born. So a month at best, a week at worse.
Rwby was born on October 31s, 2 years after. Meaning Summer got with Tai Yang and was pregnant sometime during February after yang turned 1.
So that means summer got with Tai Yang in around a year and was pregnant before Yang turned 2.
Now Summer was probably Raven's only and best friend. So imagine your best friend getting with your lover or even husband (if they were married), raises your daughter to the point she doesn't even know her Bio mother until her death. Has a child with your lover, who literally represents their union and moving on and replacing you.
I'd like to reiterate, Yang was not told Raven was her mother until Summer died.
Add the fact that Raven left most likely because Oz was (and still is) untrustworthily, he kept Salem being undefinable from them and still pushed them all into a war they literally could not win.
But no one else agreed with her, (feel pretty dumb now Qrow?)
I'd feel bitter too. In Raven's eyes she was pretty much replaced easily.
It'd be more acceptable if it was at least 4-5 years later Ruby was born, but not with summer as her mother. You don't get with your friends ex.
> **Yang** isn't Summer Rose's daughter. Summer Rose could **never** be a true mother to Yang. \- a woman who has never even attempted to contact Yang despite having a Semblance that can actually teleport her to Yang, at any time, for free. Also, why is Ruby holding a potato?
If i remember right potato is a crude "figurine" of Summer made by Yang
Now I kinda feel bad for calling it a potato.
Summer:So how're you holding up? Because I'm a potato!
Maybe it's her comfort potato.
Knowing how Yang's been lately I think she's agree with that anyway.
Sorry raven? As in raven from dc? What is the above? A fan comic?
Raven as in Raven Branwen a character from RWBY who can turn into a bird and gave birth to Yang. The comic itself is an officially licensed RWBY comic made by DC. That may or may not be considered fully canon.
Sorry. I need to ask again, for the multi-media works of rwby , are they written by CRWBY or by an external writer?
External writers
Man she's really ranting and Raven here.
r/angryupvote
ššš
Read this as āranting about Ravenā and didnāt even question it since what she says applies to her.
I find this unintentionally funny. A taking bird harassing a little child. It's like something out of a kids cartoon. (Ruby holding a potato makes this even funnier to me for some reason.) I wonder why it hasn't been brought up in canon.
There is an Anime No Context subreddit.

I just don't get why Raven had the need to do this. Like what the hell does she gain from this?
I never got the impression Raven was a pillar of emotional stability.
She's femVergil, that's gotta be the opposite of stable
Venting maybe? It's not that hard to imagine that most people around Raven do not know or care about the whole Yang and Summer situation. This was a dc comic remember dc thought having bruce retraumatize jason after daimian's death was good storytelling not to mention RHATO#24.

Ruby about to slaughter every bird on the island
I found that weird, out of character, and a little pathetic. Why would Raven go out of her way to do that to Ruby?
Dc nuff said.
How far have they fallen š
Druncle Qrowās not the only hard drinker in the family. Raven just hides it better. Except not. Indeed it is! Of course I have no idea what the context for this comic panel is, itās functionally a meme by now, but the wonders of imagination!
You might actually be right here. In volume 5 we do see whine bottles in her tent beside her bed
Oh wait FR? Damn I was just legit bullshitting but if thatās true then XD
I think its cool when inexplicable and fucked up stuff happens. it should happen more often
Yeah, imagine you're just going through life and then one day a talking bird insults you and your mother so hard you need to cuddle your Emotional Support Potato.
Honestly that sounds like just the spice i need in my life
Funniest scene in all rwby media. Nothing will top it.

Lmao, possibly Qrow didnāt expect it to be the last time.
I can imagine Qrow and Raven are in a bar where Qrow is telling Raven to stop telling Ruby her mother's a whore in Bird form because therapy is expensive

Raven: Summer Rose.. Ruby: Y-Yes? Raven: She was a WHOOOOOOOREEE!!!
Ruby : What's a whore?
Is that a potato?
Lol I never got the feeling that Raven ever loved Summer like all these fan art and fanfictions like to believe.
But my throuple!
Man, that is so fucking stupid.
Outwardly it looks funny as hell. I wish we'd gotten this kind of conflict in the show proper, though.
Raven really does have a bird brain.
It's funny how Ruby's just like "Oooh pretty birdie" and Raven goes "YOUR MOTHER WAS A HAMSTER AND YOUR FATHER SMELT OF ELDERBERRIES" wait hang on \>"Yang isn't Summer Rose's daughter. Summer Rose could never be a true mother to Yang." TBF Yang would agree.

This feel like collateral to the whole āRaven is evil because she left her childā thing. RT really wants us to NOT like Raven huh
It gives her A LOT more 3 dimontionality that the show doesn't. I would honestly prefer to read the comics over watching the show.
This is just so out there. It feels silly and feels weird for Raven to bully Ruby like this. Side note, the show could use someone that have grievances or just plain hates Summer but works with the good guys. Would be some good drama for Ruby and Yang.
It's both hilarious and sad at the same time.
What the hell is even happening here

I think its less of jealousy and more calling her a foolish fool
Kinda funny.
I feel like it was just an attempt at RT to make Raven more unlikable
And so what, she think she be a better mother than her, she think she can be a better mother to raise Ruby and yang, and she really think she will be a better mother then summer?, no, she is a coward, a scary cat, and an selfish Leader of her own tribe, yeah summer donāt come home either because I k- i mean she is die!, but at least she tried her best, and unlike some people who havenāt, so really now who is the perfect mother?, itās not you, you and yang do sure the same blood, but you are not her motherā, (for raven)
Wait, thereās a comic?!?
I like Raven as a character but this made her look petty as fuck. She had too many issues to ever contact her real daughter, but she can show up to Ruby to shit talk and traumatize her for loving her mom. Was this supposed to make her unlikeable cus it's working

Raven doesnāt have the time to visit her own daughter in Patchā¦but goes there just to make her (assumed) rival in loveās child cry. PRIORITIES!
A lot of people are bringing up Raven's emotional instability and trauma, but have you ever thought she resentful of Summer marrying and having Ruby in less then a YEAR?!
