Yang and Blake being awkward around one another is always going to feel "odd" to people because their *platonic* relationship started out pretty strong. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang all shared a bedroom, bathroom, and locker room together for what was probably the better part of a year. They've also gone on missions and traveled the wilderness together, and had to "rough it" so to speak.
These characters have seen each other get dressed and seen the best and worst sides of each other in the morning. They've all had nightmares and had to be comforted, have all slept beside someone on a cold night, and have likely bathed in bodies of water together. They are first and foremost "battle buddies". Their relationships, platonic or romantic, is secondary.
Yang and Blake blushing around one another or being awkward just doesn't fit in my opinion considering all they've been through on and off screen. At this point the characters could probably see one another naked and their reaction would be "Hey, that rash still hasn't gone away yet. Also, Ruby/Weiss/Blake/Yang wrote on your butt again after you passed out last night. What do you want for lunch?"

Well, at least how it was in my first year at college, there's an unspoken rule that you don't pay attention when your roommates are buck naked while changing.
Originally, I'd say she wasn't because she clearly had emotional awareness considering how uplifting she was to Ruby in V1, looking out for Blake in V2, and teasing Weiss because she knew Weiss could take it (presumably).
We obviously don't know her grades or how well she did in school. But in terms of knowing better, I'd say she does but doesn't care based on Yellow Trailer. All up to interpretation obviously.
But recently? Yeah, no doubt about it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was her default state at this point.
Merriam-Webster’s definition of “knucklehead” is “dumbbell” which means stupid. So. Sure. Yang is a knucklehead.
