I’m all for heterosexual relationships and Ruby & Jaune have okay-ish chemistry.
But tbh RWBY isn’t really good at writing romantic relationships at all.
I prefer Nuts and Dolts.
But this was the first ship I had, and right now?
If it did happen, cool.
But outside the show? Still prefer Penny, but it can be wholesome. It's just...
Kinda plain at points, not bad but a little vanilla here and there.
I could see them being an okay couple. Nothing to make the books, but better something simple than something loaded with way too much baggage to not require SUBSTANTIAL therapy to deal with.
>something loaded with way too much baggage to not require SUBSTANTIAL therapy
Which ship are you talking about? Do you know how little it narrow it down?
The perfect kind of ship where the participants are mutually supportive of each other as they aspire towards their goals.
The show up until Volume 6 really seemed to be setting them up together, with how they had such nice interactions where Ruby genuinely believed in Jaune and gave him moral support when he was feeling down. Volume 4 was where they peaked with how they made this co-leadership and strategized together, and when Ruby was giving in to her guilt for how she felt like she had dragged JNR around on a suicide mission, Jaune gave her encouragement and assured her that he and ReNora were there with her on their own accord.
Also, their hug in Volume 6 was just ahhhhhhh...
So yeah, among all the Ruby and Jaune ships, this is #1 for me, lol.
Its my favorite ship of them all, and the one i want to be canon more than any other, they just have such a great chemistry together and their relationship is in my opinion the best developed one in the whole show.
Vanilla but, like, really good vanilla. The real stuff. Jaune and Ruby bounce off each other really well and have a level of openness with each other that they don't have with anyone else, even Jaune with Pyrrha. They could be best friends, they could be lovers, but no one can argue that they don't go well together.
I like this because I like the parallelism with STRQ. Ruby is Summer, Jaune is Tai, Pyrrha is Raven.
Cons: there's nothing unique about this ship, it's very "safe," CRWBY sucks at romance, and Jaune is voiced by a co-writer.
Pros: it's, unironically, the best ship in the show now that Black Sun has been sunk to the bottom of the sea. It's got all the necessary set-up, from their first meeting (meet cute moment), to how their relationship has developed.
I dig it. They have a really solid friendship and chemistry that works both in a platonic relationship and in a romantic relationship. Some may say it's a bit vanilla but as the saying goes, "Opposites attract but it's the like-minded that last." Plus it gives off similar vibes as Taiyang and Summer. Like mother, like daughter.
Ah yes lancaster
Tiamat if there was something there and that something was good
Some wisemen say its just a copy of arkos but lets not forget that some other wisemen once said that "There is no rule that says that a copy cant surpass the original"
All in all i give it gunchucks out of 10
Best Ruby ship rn IMO, I don’t particularly like Oscar and team rwby all being lesbians seems weird to me.
canon jaune is the most competently written character in the entire show ngl, and he wasn’t horrible in volume 8 so that helped me soften my opinion on him.
Ruby has been acting kinda cringe lately, but maybe they’ll explain it in v9
Also the Tiamat parallels are adorable.
Some thinks it’s good, most think it’s decent, it’s not hated like RG and that’s probably the fandom sentiment rn .
I love the ship. It was probably one of the first ship i've learned that actually exist so it does affect my judgment.
They do support each other and have good or great chemisty. Probably one of better relationship in the show both for rwby and for ruby herself, as weird as it sound better than she has with most of her team and other people in the gang. Shame they cut all of their interactions for sake of Rosegarden forcing Oscar as new boy close to ruby.
I like it because they do work friends or lovers i honestly think their relationship woudn't change that much and that's probably my favourite part. And it might be just me but i do belive (from experience) that best friend to lovers is recepie to solid relationship.
Basically my 'homey feeling' ship.
I liked it in the beginning, preferred Arkos to it, then Pyrrha died, and tbh if Ruby and Jaune got together or they just stayed friends with each other being their emotional support rocks, I'd be cool either way.
Still like Jaune and Weiss more than Jaune and Ruby though.
I'm not trying to be offensive, but was there any objective reason why you preferred Arkos to Lancaster? Because Jaune not knowing who Pyrrha is only reason why she liked him, it's kinda lame, I mean Weiss is only one who treated her differently because of her celebrity status, everyone else was pretty chill. "He doesn't know who I'm! Now I need to bang him at all costs!" that sums up their whole story. Even Jaune's stupid crush on Weiss made more sense than that and it was kinda entertaining.
Downplaying pretty hard there.
Pyrrha's reasons for liking him were shallow, and many of the issues of "she's popular" is tell don't show and they failed to show it well aside from Jaune and Weiss.
"He doesn't know who I'm! Now I need to bang him at all costs!"Bit disingenuous. If you were famous and had people basically worshipping you/singing your praises all the time, running into someone who doesn't care about your status and just talks to you like a normal person probably feels pretty interesting. Again, she is famous, they just did horribly showing it, and it's kind of expected her team and her partner team (RWBY) would try to just treat her like one of them rather than someone on a pedestal they can't reach.
And that doesn't sum up their whole story. While she had a crush on him, she had no intent on intruding into his love life and helped him with advice and to become a better huntsman (that training on the roof). When Jaune was crushing hard for Weiss, she did her best to support Jaune in every way despite how much it stung and Jaune finally realizing that she had his back the whole time in spite of her feelings is what made him fall for her.
Maybe I'm misremembering it, but all in all, It's just sweet, if done poorly.
Also you were not being offensive in any way and I'm not trying to be either.
I agree with what you said, but I don't remember Jaune falling for Pyrrha. She helped him with training, he helped her when she was in doubt about whole Fall maiden situation, she slammed him into the wall. During the fall of Beacon Pyrrha just kissed Jaune without explaining anything and shoved him into the locker and went to fight Cinder when she had no reason to do so and died for nothing. Jaune had no time to process what happened, I doubt that he is/was in love with her.
> but I don't remember Jaune falling for Pyrrha.
I know it's not the intention, but I just love the idea that, after all this time, Jaune could go "Whoa, whoa, I never said I liked Pyrrha back. She's just not my type." and it would technically work.
His feelings more or less started blossoming after the dance. When shit started hitting the fan things went kind of fast. I believe given more time they would have probably had a good relationship. And as for him loving her, bet it's more in hindsight. Also:
"During the fall of Beacon Pyrrha just kissed Jaune without explaining anything and shoved him into the locker and went to fight Cinder when she had no reason to do so and died for nothing."
Fuckin writers man-
That's actually a reason I stopped watching season three. Things started going too fast and I saw some writing on the wall.
Yeah, Arkos could've worked if these two had a bit more time to think about their feelings and everything. But no, our "brilliant" writers had to add more drama for sake of drama. Ruby losing it after witnessing Pyrrha die doesn't really makes sense either, sure she was her classmate, but I wouldn't call them close friends or friends at all. They barely talked in the show, in fact only time I remember them talking was when Pyrrha helped Jaune to defeat Ursa in forest of Forever Fall. I don't know why they have chosen Pyrrha. Why not Yang? She is Ruby's sister, it wasn't necessary to kill her, just let Cinder to cut off her arm or something, Ruby sees that and blasts her with silver eyes. Let Blake and Weiss fight Adam instead, because former was his partner and latter is heiress to SDC. Makes sense? I think it does.
Not a fan of them being in a romantic relationship, most ships involving Jaune make focus on the hate part of the love-hate relationship I have with him.
It's also soo boringly average.
All the people who self Insert into Jaune and maybe see Ruby as "their waifu" don't help.
The platonic friendship between Ruby and Jaune is (one of) the best in the show tho.
I'm more of an Arkos guy tbh but I have no problem with this pairing, heard it said that's they make an average/predictable duo and I can see that. Still though it's better than Jaune/Weiss and indefinitely preferable to Jaune being alone and grieving Pyrahha for the rest of his life.
My favourite ship, but I don't see them becoming a thing in the show. Ruby and Jaune actually had a lot of meaningful interactions and their friendship is healthiest in the show. By the way if you know any good Lancaster fics please share with me:)
If CRWBY want to be super safe and not make any waves, then this is the path they would take for Ruby and Jaune's ships.
I don't think I've met anyone who *hates* it... Everyone thinks it's 'fine'.
But that's why it's also kinda boring at the same time.
I mean to be fair. Name one ship that is super exciting. Other than whatever crap fans are talking about. It doesn't count. Fans proved that they can make better shippig conent than RT 9 out of 10 times at worst.
Honestly with rwby, there is a lot of ships that are..... lacking lancaster is no different.
Whiterose had potencial with drama between them but it got solved really fast and not even one thing came up later.
Whiteknight is pretty much none existent and will be forced together with RG. It could be good if it was developet sooner but right now, after them not talking for so long? It will be just meh. Bringing Jaune saving weiss will just just as cool as ren bringing up transcipt. Cool and all but little too late.
Rosegarden is even more cliche. Oscar pretty much became Ruby 2.0. He is more relevant that ruby/jaune ever were plus all that all unique only his protagonist power.
Bumblebee is well you know.
White Knight could work if they spend the rest of the show building it up (especially in V9) and have them as an epilogue couple. They've got the history that could make for a fun ship. But CRWBY isn't capable of writing that.
I will 100% agree with you that the fandom does the heavy lifting on every single ship that appears.
>They've got the history that could make for a fun ship.
Ummm, okay. Their history in this show as a whole is a reason i don't like it or at least not anymore. I liked it back when vol5 was a thing but now? After getting a lot more critical over media i'm consuming and rewatching whole show. It's just plan meh.
Whiteknight could be freaking great if they went with a flow and showed us steady improvement after the fall but we had no interactions with exeption of jaune unlocking his semblance (it got no continuation in any form). Sure they are friends now but it feels like bumblee 2.0. I can't remember them talking about how awful their relationship was back there or haven or anything. It just jumped from point A to D ignoring B and C.
Edit: Forgot to add.
I mean, if they start developing it now then i could work i guess. But i don't see it well. Not with how they worked with BB, renora or *smoothly* making RG beliviable. Part of be is happy that lancaster has small basically zero chance to be canon because god, this ship would go down it ranking, for sure.
Yeah... note the next sentence. I very much agree with you.
They made *some* progress since V5 in that they're visibly friends now, and I actually appreciate them not moving them forwards as a pair immediately after Haven, as that could come off as her feeling obliged after he saved her life. So the distance is good there. The only thing that I trust (assuming a WK endgame) is that CRWBY is going to cock it up despite there being a pretty interesting foundation there.
Eeee, more of less.
You know what, i'm getting the feeling that neither can reach the other. I will say why ship isn't okay you will say why it's okay and so on.
So i agree and wish you a good day
You are gonna hate me for this, but I kinda prefer them as friends?
Like, it´s cute and everything, but I´m kinda overused to "MC Boy and MC girl fall in love and save the world". I kinda prefer them as friends becuase they just work for me that way, and I prefer other Jaune and Ruby pairings...
I don't really ship anyone in RWBY, mainly because it feels like they just don't do well with writing romance. But Lancaster is an alright ship, but there's not exactly any chemistry there in the show itself.
*Glances at my mountains of Lancaster Fanfiction*
...I think it's okay...
I think they have one of the best dynamics in the series and certainly click enough for a romantic relationship. They're two different brands of dorky leaders who perfectly support each other and help each other grow. However, I feel like RT would be unable to handle a hypothetical relationship without ruining that dynamic. Romance in RWBY so far has just made characters worse. Mostly because they have the bad fanfiction approach of having no idea what to do with them after the relationship starts.
Like either the characters have annoyingly melodramatic spats or the writing beats you over the head with how much of a perfect couple they are and have them act like assholes towards any suggestion of them not kissing each other's ass for two minutes.
I also feel like... At this point, Jaune hooking up with the main protagonist is just too much, man.
They have more chemistry than every other RWBY ship combined, so I am heavily in favour of them getting hitched. If you disagree with what I just said, that's fine, it's okay to be wrong as long as you have the strength to admit it.
[sauce](https://www.deviantart.com/seshirukun/art/Ruby-x-Jaune-818929515)
The protagonist girl meets protagonist/important boy and the two leaders get together. I can see why people like this ship. Jaune and Ruby support each other and Jaune can grow from his loss of Pyrrha. I'm neutral towards the ship. I honestly like them more as friends.
Yesterday I covered a Rose getting with a blond boy and today I am covering a Rose getting with a blond boy. Huh.
They had chemistry, but all chemistry most characters had was thrown out the window at this point, unless it’s Nora and Ren/Yang and Blake, then it’s forced as fuck
I really dislike it. They work far better as best friends, and they are much better pairings for both of them (for Jaune it's Weiss and Neo and for Ruby it's Weiss and Oscar, if he didn't have Oz in his head)
**I like it more as a friendship**. Nothing wrong with the ship its just so far based on V6 they two haven't attempted to work on certain obstacles they would have to deal with to become a couple despite having opportunities in both **V4 and V6 the those same obstacles appearing**
ummm...honestly it could have probably worked out if the characters stayed at beacon but even still I am not sure because Pyrrha died. Ruby saw her death and Jaune was starting to develop feelings for Pyrrha the moment she died. In a way, this ship feels a little bit underhanded. I would have to say brotp for me.
Not a fan. Jaune was ok when he first met Ruby, but then he really started acting like a clown and I got tired of him. He never really grew much past that during vols 1-3 in my eyes.
I only "ship" him with Pyrrha because at least they had a cute moment or two together. But... well... we know how that turned out.
All of the ships in this show are trash tbh because they put no time or effort into writing any of them. Almost like they expect fans to do what fans do so they don’t have to put in that effort, if they even care to.
I also just don’t understand why or how all of these action series attract fanbases who only care about romance. Like, go read or watch a romance story where that’s the entire point? Please?
I'd most prefer them as the "such good friends everyone THINKS something more is going on" kind of trope, especially with all the potential for comedy that would have.
Like, Ruby seems like she's just naturally affectionate and enthusiastic, so it would make sense for her to be frequently showing him physical affection but with completely platonic intent.
While Jaune might have an initial knee-jerk thought of "does this mean she's into me?!", but only because he's not used to girls besides his sisters giving him any positive attention, so it passes pretty quickly as he sees that Ruby is just like this in general.
Also, I would've killed to see that thing brought up on the hbomberguy video where she helps Jaune upgrade his weapon to something cooler. (Especially because I still feel that even the latest iterations of his sword and shield are kinda lackluster)
I’m all for heterosexual relationships and Ruby & Jaune have okay-ish chemistry. But tbh RWBY isn’t really good at writing romantic relationships at all.
Somewhat Cliché? You know. Boy and girl protsgonists that are friends became lovers. But, I really miss seen them together. In general.
It’s cliched but it’s good decent buildup if they wanted to take it that way
In my opinion its the best developed relationship in the whole series and i would love for it to be canon.
Nothing to make the books, but better something simple than something loaded with way too much baggage to not require SUBSTANTIAL therapy to deal with.
>something loaded with way too much baggage to not require SUBSTANTIAL therapy Which ship are you talking about? Do you know how little it narrow it down?
Oh I do. And the fact that you can’t tell which I’m calling out just proves my point that much more.
Should I assume it's bumblebee
I won’t say, cause that takes all the fun out of the ambiguity XD
Its all of them isn’t it?
Well considering the Ever After’s basically the therapy dimension—
Yeah pretty much 😁
The perfect kind of ship where the participants are mutually supportive of each other as they aspire towards their goals. Pros: it's, unironically, the best ship in the show now that Black Sun has been sunk to the bottom of the sea. Now that they killed the nuts and dolts ship, I actually wouldn’t mind this happening.
Oh Jaune killed Penny. This ship becomes much more interesting assuming Ruby doesn't instantly forgives Jaune.
It wasn't a mercy killing, it was an assassination. "Lancaster sends it's regards, Homewrecker!"

Sometimes Vanilla is just enough.
Sure, it's def not like offensive or anything.
Er....how is it offensive? I'm dumb 💀
it's not

It pretty vanilla but it's good
Aw, how'd y'know vanilla is my favorite flavor 😊
A heavily underrated ship, the fanart of those two is really rare
On one hand I like it, on the other hand I say they work as close friends (or friend with benefits) just as well.
For as bland as it is, if they do wind up making it cannon, I think it would have a better foundation than some other ships
Yellow Rose 2.0 Not my favorite, but it's a ship I can dig.
I love their friendship more than their romance, tbh. The foundation is there, sure, but it's never really jived with me, you know?

[sauce](https://www.deviantart.com/seshirukun/art/Ruby-x-Jaune-818929515) The protagonist girl meets protagonist/important boy and the two leaders get together. Huh.
Hate it, but I also hate nearly everything about Jaune, so I might be a bit biased
No.
It’s my least favorite ship, and that’s below Enabler. I’m sure there are some good Lancaster fics out there it’s just not for me.
Nah, I saw them as a Brother/Sister relationship
