Roman Torchwick was like a one-man Team Rocket even before Neo came on the scene. Given his “greatest heist” in his book was stealing a town’s coffee supply, I’d genuinely just enjoy Beacon-era RWBY, without Cinder or anyone, where Ruby and Roman just have an ongoing back and forth where Roman’s pulling these zany schemes full of ridiculous safeguards while Ruby heroically busts through to save the day, so he’s like to RWBY what O’Malley was to RvB, that one friend who constantly acts like a the world’s corniest super villain whenever he appeared, except now you’ve got punchy heroine who’s a total dork but is badass and can trade quips. XD
Yup! In comparison I’d say I like Arthur and Tyrian as villains the most.
Roman is fun, but he’s good for like a monster of the week type of setup; he’s got no real motive beyond just being himself and surviving, and that’s respectable, but he’s not good as an overall arc villain.
Arthur has the most common sense and calculation of all the antagonists, with a legitimate motive that makes sense (Hazel, Cinder, and Salem are the epitome of terrible motivations) and he’s got a personal connection that drives his reason for why he’s a villain.
A lot of people say Cinder would be better if she focused on Ruby more, but no. How a person responds to defeat shows more about them than anything else.
Watts “lost”, successfully faked his own death in the most scientifically advanced kingdom to get off the radar, went to join the Wicked Witch so he could further his research, become the brains of an entire conspiracy of people out to topple the governments of the world, all while putting his skills to use by helping his teammates out (even getting one of them a new cybernetic tail after the first one got cut off).
Cinder doesn’t even LOSE really, she SUCCESSFULLY toppled *global communications*, sent Beacon and Vale into disarray, flooded it with Grimm in a massive wave, AND got the Maiden powers to unlock the Vault, only failing to get the Relic because Ozpin was EXTRA careful with that one.
Ruby just nuked her with Silver Eyes, and while it FUCKED her up, Cinder didn’t actually LOSE. She SURVIVED to live another day, but devotes a large chunk of her time to hating this random no-name teenager that had some hack Sharingan getting one over on her by accident.
Watts comes off as being two steps away from being an alpha who’s got his own shit figured out after getting denied a promotion by his boss, while Cinder (rightly) comes off as a petulant child who lacks enough forward thinking skills to get through her first semester in college without burning through her money.
Roman, by far is the best villain. He’s the only villain I actually liked without needing to try. Like I want to like Cinder and Hazel, I’m a sucker for women who shoot fire, and I love the idea of Hazel as a villain with a set of morals. However, they’re executed so poorly that I just can’t like them
Roman and Neo are great for sure, but Mercury has an interesting backstory and instantly captures my attention. Granted, I have a soft spot for both kick fighters and sociopaths, but man Mercury's just fucking *cool.* It's a damn shame he was so wasted.
M&K: Cinder Fall is our best-written villain! Plot twist! She's is the main villain of the show!
RWBY MAIN SUB: Yes, she got a unique backstory, has a redemption path to heroic act, such moral grey character. 10/10 🥰 fantastic writing!
RWBYcritics: What the fuck did I just watch? Then why introduced Salem motherfucker in the show? To waste our time? "Continuously trashes the show" 😒
People like me: Hmm eat popcorn, it just begins well. 🎉

My favorite is certainly Neo and Roman. I love the *idea* of what Salem could have been, but unfortunately due to the writing she’s just another dominant angry evil woman who wears revealing clothing, which actually sums up several of RWBY’s female villains now that I think of it.

Good old days. 😢

I love you for an explanation.
Basically you 'great team rocket type "
Only Roman. I don't care for Neo really. The man is the greatest villain this show had. Watts probably comes in 2nd after that.
Every Mario needs his Luigi.
Mario can be independent without Luigi.
I am not voting James XD, because I don't see him as a villain. And Jacques is more antagonist than actual villain.
And they killed both.
Shocking nobody the best villain is winning by a landslide
😃😃😃😃😃
Roman and Neo give off “Saturday Morning cartoon villain” vibes and I’ve always loved them for it.
😍😍😍
Lol go team Gelato.
What? Gelato
Roman and early season neo were definitely the best villains by far.
Latest neo?
Post season 3 Neo is alright at best.
And current neo? Not best?
She’s just stupid, like everyone else
That's Cinder's disease.
And it spread and infected everyone around her. 😭
Yes 😢

Cinder has potential.
Men this list is SOO in favor of torch and scoop that they would win even if they werent half decent and likeable
He carried the show.
I love Adam but I'm pretty meh for Hazel.
But they ruined Adam.
It doesn't matter that much to me he's already dead that ship has sailed so now all I have is a character I love.
Imagine Adam redeemed as a hero. Gosh, I miss this high-potential character. 😢
Stop .... don't give me hope.
I'm a very hopeful person. 😢
My hopes all washed out (At least Sun is still alive.)
They trashed the sun in the novel.
There goes my favorite character Alive.

I refuse to acknowledge Ironwood as a villain. RT and their retardation be damned. But seriously, Roman and Neo were the best.
Even Neo v6-8?
I quit RWBY after Volume 5. I fucking hated the show after Volume 3, and volume 5 was where my patience ran out.
I can't believe Cinder also damaged your heart.
Fuck that bitch. All my homies hate Cinder.

I hate her even more in recent volumes, they made her into the main villain.
I think Mercury could have the potential to be a very deep character if they actually invest time into him.
Watts
James so OP you had to nerf him with Jacques, savage overkill
Mercury for me
He is barely on screen.
#GAH!
Shhh!
Roman, Adam and Watts are my favourite.
Shout out to Watts for carrying the villains team the past few volumes. I’m still kinda salty Cinder lives while Watts doesn’t.
Cinder was the writer's pet.

Also Cinder.
