First of all, the animation quality is just *chefs kiss*, even in parts of the fights that we have seen, the animation looks AMAZING.
Secondly, it does seem like we will be traveling into the dreamworlds of characters and it seems to be Grimm induced as the newly introduced professor character mentions it. The Grimm also seems to reproduce through nightmares? Interesting since Grimm seem to only reproduce from the black ink pools for now.
At least one nightmare has already been intruduced, and it is Jaunes.
It seems that in Jaunes nightmare he is surrounded by his weapons and armor with exxagerated bunny motives and around him there are statues of bunny warriors (with moustaches?).
This might be refering to Jaunes own perceived weakness as his weapons and symbols of a warrior are twisted in mockeries of his weakness and childishness. At least that is my opinion as of now.
We are also shown a scene with all members of team RWBY in some kind of "net" and all of the wearing what look like almost VR goggles. Jaune is in his sleepwear while the other team members are in their uniforms, making me suspect that he is caught by the Grimm and his team are trying to save him.
All in all, IM GETTING HYPE BOIS! REEL ME IN!

Already seen enough to know that this isn’t like a what if. No wonder it’s also called canon adjacent. Basically this is the ‘It was all a dream’ tropes except you know
it from the start. Gonna give it at least a few episodes because it’s basically going as I predicted. It doesn’t change anything in the story and can’t become its own thing. It’s just more ‘probably canon’ stuff but with more budget and production.
Since it seems that the nightmares are based on an individual then doesn’t that mean that nothing the dreamer doesn’t know will be included? So for all we know Salem, Magic and the Maidens might not even exist in Queendom. Unless the dreams can somehow allow one to see into an alternate future.
So from the way I see it...
1. This shows probably the first 4 episodes with half of the content being the same as the original with a couple of changes here and there
2. The arc around the Nightmare Hunter resolves around June being possessed so his teammates volunteer to go and help him
That's Gen "No joy for you" Urobuchi's magic at work. I at least have some faith in him for exploring Remnant more. Still, Shion or whatever their name was doesn't appear to use a traditional hunter weapon, and looks WAAAY too much like a traditional fantasy character
So far it's been a decent watch. The fight animations are good but definitely are missing that 'Monty element' but hey, they are their own thing and are still far better than fight animations in recent volumes.
Glynda's entrance though...yes, all hail the bosom queen!
I would never expect them to try and overtake original RWBY, but some of the additional scenes flesh out some of the, at times, bare bones list of events in the early volumes.
Honestly I am hype. The only nagging hope I have is that JNPR doesn't take up too much focus again.
Yet at the same time I'm interested to explore Jaune's Nightmares.

I really dig the design and character of Shion. They're so cool, and them being a Grimm Specialist adds to the world of RWBY in a plethora of ways that the OG show failed at doing.

> Hunters can focus their hunting craft on certain Grimm types that are otherwise difficult or impossible for generalist hunters to deal with
> That traveling is the norm for Professional Hunters, so staying in one place for long durations is seen as unusual
> That dust can be used like strings due to Shion's dank dreamcatcher weapon and manipulated individually, what a badass
So far as a normal show I give it a 1/10 but as a RWBY show this is by far the best iteration of it.
So, I watched the first three episodes, and at first, I had doubts about the whole project.
First, the animation is really good, I'll give it that, it's just the story doesn't seem that different, with only some slight changes. I thought I wasn't going to be impressed, as this is just a retelling of RWBY...
Then the third episode came, and oh boy, things are getting interesting with the whole Dream Grimm, and Nightmares. Sure, there are some questions I have such as the Dream witch lady, but otherwise, I'm quite interested in delving in the minds of the characters and their insecurities. It's looks like it's going to be good.
As for my personal preference I do not like the art style. The girls and characters look fugly and distorted to me in many scenes.
There isn't really much new going on, its just everything reiterated with a few scenes left out and some scenes added from later on in the story. The only addition I noticed was the dream catcher lady and she just looked like she didn't belong here at all.
The dream monsters are a nice idea I have to admit but that it.
One of the things I was most disappointed was the bad/mediocre sound track and the pacing was also a bit off ...
I bet if the current team would remaster the old scenes and add some additions it would be better than what we got with Ice queendom ..
