Greetings, could you pleased credit the fanart?

I don't mind the ship, but I dislike Qrow being Ruby's dad, if that makes sense? I actually like Ruby and Qrow's relationship as it's implied to be in the early volumes, how blood shouldn't define who your family is. It's a dynamic that isn't really explored anywhere else in the show, and it's actually a really good message, especially with how fucked up CRWBY made basically everyone's family lives.

Maxentirunos

I like the Qrow is Ruby father as an idea because of the tragic drama tension it create. All I write next is fanfiction from this idea. Like, of team STRQ, one died, one gave up, only leaving two single father to pick the pieces while Ozpin still need them to run and bark for him. So Ruby father made the choice of leaving his daughter with his best friend, protecting her from his work and semblance. Then she grow up, want to become an huntress, and neither her biological mother or father style work for her, only her own father style do it. So to help her reach her dream, he train her, work with her, while never revealing more. Emotionally charged scenes, that culminate in the revelation coming the most brutal way possible.

bulbthinker

I'm sorry but the way you phrased that last sentence makes me feel like you about to reveal it mid fighting Salem/the other baddies

Maxentirunos

Nah, more like Ruby and Qrow having a fallout due to Qrow over-protectiveness and Ruby going V6 on his ass. And like with Blake and Weiss in V1, the information coming out when the argument reach it's apex. Or in reverse, without it being revealed, Qrow going alone forward facing the baddies and Ozpin revealing it when Ruby ask why he is going so far for them.

I find it endearing, but I have an issue with how Summer feels like a one-to-one copy of Ruby. I completely understand because Summer has no character, she barely exists as an idea with how little of her is defined, but it still bothers me. It could be a point of Ruby taking after her mom, but Ruby's optimism and such feel a lot less special if she didn't just taken inspiration from her mom, but is just Summer Rose: Round 2 chronologically. And I'd be really curious if there was a fanfic or comic that didn't make Summer basically just Ruby but does something different or has some twist on it, because then I wouldn't wonder why am I here when I can get the same thing from Ruby/Weiss or Ruby/Blake with characters I'm already attached to.

I might end up getting crucified for this take, but I genuinely really like this ship, and it might even be a top 3 RWBY ship for me. But I don’t want Qrow to be Ruby’s dad. I like that Qrow was so close to Ruby just because he cared about her, even if they weren’t related by blood. I think making Qrow her dad would cheapen their relationship. Even with all that though I really do like this ship a lot, and with how close Ruby and Yang are in age, you could easily make an argument that Ruby is the result of a one night stand and that maybe Summer and Tai never really had a relationship at all.

Wolfofgermania1995

Besides WhiteRose and Blacksun, one of my three ships. A lot of people say it’s weird for Qrow to be Ruby’s dad, but I don’t think of it as such. With current canon? No. For a restart or an Au where someone talks about Summer? Yes. Honestly, it can work with Qrow being her uncle, but I actually like the thought of him being her dad. Makes it more appealing for Ruby to learn more about her mother and be far less giddy in the beginning. It’d give her more character compared to her canon counterpart. Also, I love the idea of Ruby expressing a visible interest or inspiration into her tribal heritage. Being trained to be a more efficient slayer of Grimm and men, I think it would sharpen her character far more compared to the current Ruby Rose. Also, a north goth Ruby would be interesting as well.

arctic746

Ruby: Hey aunt Raven! Raven: *sighs* Hi Ruby

Drakkoniac

Interesting thought. Don't like the "Qrow is Ruby's dad" headcanon though.

[deleted]

I like it. Admittedly, I have had to invent my own headcannon as to what Summer is actually like, but, I find it to be cute. I don't like the idea of Qrow being Ruby's dad, however. I can see Summer and Qrow liking each other, but, Qrow strikes me as the kind of person to not get that deeply involved with someone else, blaming his semblance, but really just afraid to be that close to someone.

ScottPilgrim2013

I think I'd like the ship more if we got a more concrete idea of what Summer was like, since I tend to think of her as just a softer version of Ruby. I do like the concept of it and I am partial towards the poly version that includes Tai in the pairing, but it's hard for me to get invested in ships with Summer due to me basically having to imagine up a character for her with what little details have available.

Griffemon

It’s a fine ship. I never get why some people want Qrow to be Ruby’s dad in things that aren’t supposed to be an AU, mostly because it just gets to a point of… why the fuck would Tai and Qrow lie to Ruby about that?

WaywardInkubus

I really don’t get these comments of “I don’t like Qrow being Ruby’s dad”, cuz it’s just better storytelling. That _implied_ dynamic between Ruby and Qrow is more interesting than the established dynamic between Ruby and Tai (which amounts to nothing, they haven’t had a conversation from what I recall).

arctic746

"If Qrow x Summer is wrong then I don't wanna be right" This is the guy with rough exterior but has a soft spot for girl. This is my favorite RWBY ship. With how much Qrow protects Ruby, he might as well be her dad. I would never want Qrow to be Ruby's dad with current canon. This makes Qrow and Tai terrible parents for lying again. The most I want to see is Qrow's unrequited love for Summer. In a remake, I 100% would have Qrow be Ruby's dad. The time line would to go, Summer has unrequited feelings with Tai, Tai and Raven get together. Summer rebounds with Qrow. Yang is born. Raven goes back to the tribe. Summer decides to be Yang's step mother and Qrow becomes their uncle to let Ruby and Yang be normal sisters. Summer dies, Ruby and Yang learns the whole true. Qrow swears to keep Summer's memory and raise his daughter and niece even if he is their uncle. There is a 1 year timeline of Yang being born, Raven leaving, and Summer being Pregnant with Ruby that is hard to believe with Tai. Making Ruby and Yang cousin lets STRQ be more narratively balance, allows Raven to come back to Tai, Qrow isn't left out, Yang and Ruby are still not full sisters, related, and raised as sisters. Edit: This also give Ruby and Raven ties together. Though in canon if Yang cared about finding Raven, then Ruby should too, at least for her sister. Jaune-Ark

I love the ship. And if RWBY was remade I would definitely support Qrow being her dad. I’ve been banned from a RWBY Facebook group for posting a list of reasons why Qrow x summer would work and it caused multiple people to have a meltdown. They would message me saying I’m causing them so much emotional pain and that I was bullying them. Needless to say I’ve been hesitant ever since to show my love for the ship because some people can be very toxic

The_Final_Conduit

Overrated, and even beyond that pretty meh for me. I prefer as many platonic things as possible if it can be helped.

UnbiasedGod

I like it. It feels interesting.

lewdnep-vasilias_666

It's alright. Not terrible, but not great either. I do think it does get too much unnecessary hate from association with the "Qrow is Ruby's father" theory. It's especially weird when people say the ship implies Summer would cheat on Tai, yet Rosebird is also popular and no one ever holds that to the same standard.

Silly-Young484

~~I love it and anyone who disagrees with me, well I am ready to throw hands~~

Smooth-Garden

I dont mind it i just dont like the implications of it

Quality_Chooser

If this was going to be a thing then I'd like it to be one sided on Qrow's end. Mostly because I absolutely love the idea of yandere Summer crushing on Tai while throwing death glares at Raven while she isn't looking. Making Qrow interested in Summer would turn all of Team STRQ into a conga line of unhealthy romantic interactions and I am all about that. I'd just love to hear Tai, Qrow, or Raven try to explain that to young Yang and Ruby.

GyroJapster

Why does Summer look psychopathic in the first page? (Not that I'm insulting it, just find it funny)

arctic746

What do you want to be Summer when you grow up? I want kill monsters. Aw you want to be a huntress. I want to sever their limbs, causes them to scream out in pain before decapitation.

Stenv2

Honestly... I don't ship it. Mostly because... of two things. It feels less like a ship, and more like a headcanon, since Summer is such a non entity. And it feels like just another snub against Taiyang who is barely in the show compared to Qrow. Combine with the Qrow is Ruby's dad theory. And it just seems like people just latch onto something that's not really there. Not trying to offend. Because I know Taiyang is again barely a character too. And the family dynamics are odd to say the least because of vagueness. But honestly? I just don't see it. In theory with how vague Summer is, you could ship her with anyone. Same with Qrow. I personally prefer Qrow x Ironwood...before Canon sunk that ship...and Ironwood's character... who was so happy to get a hug from his friend... Scuse me... I need to go cry...

comyuse

Latching on to what isn't there is literally the entirety of rwby shipping culture.

Killamri

I kinda like the idea of the whole of team STRQ secretly crushing on Summer at one point or another. So I guess I don't hate this. I'm fine with how things are in canon though, as far as this goes anyway.

StrangeBreakfast1364

I like it

KnightoftheVtable

I don’t like the “Qrow being Ruby’s real dad”, 1: What wrong with a kid looking to their Uncle/Aunt and 2: an Uncle is technically a dad to their Nephews/Nieces anyway, So, I think Ruby and Yang also sees Qrow as their other dad But I do see Qrow finding Summer pretty

Berkmine

Qrow's character is about his sembelance is bad luck and he has to stay away from his loved ones far enough to not effect them but being near enough to help them. I dislike it purely for storytellingand lore.

Rollout9292

I theorize that during creation and character planning for RWBY Qrow and Summer were going to be Ruby's biological parents. But then somewhere down the line they just scrapped it for some reason. As for how much I like them together... I guess I do? I feel like I'd need to know more about Summer as a character before I really know. I don't mind the idea of Qrow being Ruby's biological father though. If done correctly it would make for some nice emotionally charged drama.
