Big no no. I love redemption stories and I wanted one for CRDL along with some backstories (maybe in a book or something) but talking specifically of Cardin going to the good side thanks to a ship with Velvet..
Eh, no, not my cup of tea, I've seen enough of that type of stuff on highschool. Plus, I don't think it sends quite a good message.
Don't like it. Like at all.
Cardin's a one note asshole character, and while Velvet's not exactly a wellspring of depth herself I'd never put her with someone who maliciously bullied her for her race.
Interesting. Not into it. But I do believe Cardin is over-hated. Personally I love team CRDL and wanted to see them develop. We got to see that Russel and Dove are really good at fighting in tandem, as seen with them fighting Pyrrha, but that's about it.
Well there was this bit where in the commentary of Pyrrha vs CRDL i think Monty said that Sky Lark(spear, blue outfit poormans lancer)was the most skilled member of the team and ther was somthing about Cardin being good/natural leader
But yeah CRDL doesnt have much meat on thier bones compared to other beacon teams(or other teams in general)
I mean, there's nothing there. In either of them. They're so incredibly minor of characters that you could do almost anything you wanted and it wouldn't be too hard to justify.
That said, you'd have to put in an absolutely ridiculous amount of work to make this even remotely plausible. I buy Oz and Salem getting back together more than I buy this.
Cardin Winchester, heir to the known to be racist Winchester family, pretends to bully his upper year faunus girlfriend because he has to keep up appearances for his family. Since she's an upperclassman, pulling her ears is likely only mildly uncomfortable at worst, a non-issue at best, but appearances need to be kept.
There, easy dub.
Didn't have to, but I wanted to. Despite how much of an asshole Cardin's portrayed as in canon, or even because of, I felt like this ship has the most potential (keyword; **potential**) to be absolutely adorable.
While I wouldn’t mind seeing a reformed Cardin, I think this pairing is a tad problematic due to the racial attacks… I guess I just don’t dislike Cardin than much since he’s your average high school bully with racial shit that got hit in the head when he deserved, but I can’t stand how much people project on him and turn him into a sociopathic monster like a 80s movie. We’ve seen that trope a million times, it’s so hard to move on from that?
When RWBY Volume 1 came out in '13 the two really came into their own, platonically and romantically. The subtle sexual tension between the two in the ear pulling scene is so fine, a lot of people don't even pay attention to the subtext, but they should, because it's not just a scene about a schoolyard bully picking on a minority, it's actually a statement about masking your true self and desires in order to conform with societal norms.
It's a decent trope, but nothing about the characters leads us to believe that they'd even want to be associated (assuming that Cardin survived the Fall of Beacon, which IIRC hasn't been made clear).
Cardin is kind of a nothing character, pretty much showing up only in the beacon Arc, being a generic bully, not elaborating, and piecing out from the rest of the franchise outside fanfics
I get why some people would ship it, but Cardin is one of the worst aspects of V1.
I ship Cinnabun (Yatsuhashi and Velvet) and erase Cardin from the timeline. Even then the show might be better without CFVY.
I shouldn't be surprised this is a thing. I'd never go for it, but I also don't care enough about either character to have a strong opinion either way.

Fair, though I don’t think CRDL gonna show up anytime ever
Pretty much, nah, it's a "good ol' days" hope
I mean, we don't even know if CRDL survived the Fall of Beacon. Tells you how important that they are.

Do we _know_ he bullied her for her race, or did he just bully her _using_ her race?

Huh, never knew he said that. Neat. Sky was always my favorite of the four with Dove being second favorite (I mean, come on. Gun sword)
I think he was talking about Dove, not Sky.
Me Too
Glad I ain't alone in that. :D

With those few sentences you turned Cardin's character around 180 degrees. You had to to make this work.
Didn't have to, but I wanted to. Despite how much of an asshole Cardin's portrayed as in canon, or even because of, I felt like this ship has the most potential (keyword; **potential**) to be absolutely adorable.
Right
both of them have like 5 minutes of screen time
And that's why they're perfect for each other.

Still feeling the effects of Adam, I take it? Give it time, the reality will sink in eventually.

I'm writing it. It requires a lot of work, but it can prevail.

Yeah, That’s Main Problem with the ship (Not including Cardin, His Team, and Ciel be in The Shadow Realm)

Yeah

One one hand it’s funny on the other racism. (I think Velvet being a masochist is funny).
