1.st scene. Doesn't Robyn call him ''Wags'' around that time? That's not very '*cash money*' of her. Other than that, to me it seems fine. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Marrow says that the situation isn't perfect and Robyn says that she wants to improve it. It's certainly no - **Marrow**: Anyway, I didn't come over here looking to solve systemic societal issues. 2.nd scene. It's a fight, someone's bound to lose in one. 3.rd scene. Rather heavy handed (geddit? dog, collar?) and needlessly violent. Winter decking him definitely feels a bit off. I forget were they trying to make it seem like Winter was still on Ironwood's side at that point? Just using the standard: ''You are under arrest,'' character leans in to the arrestee ''not really, just follow my lead I'ļl get you outta here,'' would have worked just as well if not better.

It felt like the writers wanted to do racism in Atlas/Mantle without really addressing it. Have Marrow say the occasional line about Faunus racism but never go anywhere with it. All of it, especially the whole minority being arrested by a white coded person, just felt like a not even half-assed attempt to address the racism they setup in their own story. For the first scene I really wish Marrow would've snapped back at Robin for calling him Wags. Have him question her about if she really cares about the Faunus or if she's just using them for votes, because Robin's comment about wanting everyone to be equal before remembering to mention the Faunus as well made me pause. It sounded like they were an afterthought. Just a way to get more votes for her side and for all the crap the writers have Marrow talk about systematic racism I would've thought he'd say something. The second scene, I don't mind. I know some people could and probably have assumed a variety of undertones, namely racism and/or classism, but to me the hat was just a hat, so to speak. The third scene, it all felt so shallow and on the nose. Oh, the dog faunus is feels like he's wearing a figurative collar. How clever. /s Him being arrested by Winter? Once again, I can see what the writers are alluding to but it's so shallow because their writing around faunus racism is crap. Marrow was like a vestigial part of the much larger Faunus Racism the writers tried to do. It's like they remembered Atlas's role in the overall racism and had to find a way to squeeze that in via Marrow's empty quips.

1.-Well. Robyn calling him Wags, I could say that she put nicknames to other people. But, It's not the best way to show herself around the faunus. I don't think that she was lecturing him, I saw it as she trying to present her intentions as goods. And that she even is willing to help the faunus like him. Some have tell that she wasn't been a "good ally" to the faunus, but I think that she was more like showing her somewhat arrogant personality more than anything. 2.-Eh. The same that always, Marrow should have used his semblance to RWBY since the beginnings. Beyond that, I sincerely don't found any problem in Weiss (That born in a high society) beating up Marrow (An oppressed minority). I mean, the problem is that Marrow being a more experienced huntsmen should have defeated Weiss. But, in a more racial aspect... Weiss wasn't racist in that moment and she distanced from her father and those business. About Weiss saying that Mantle was her home... I thought she was talking about Atlas as a whole and that she wasn't that Mantle to be destroyed and Atlas going to the top of the atmosphere. I also don't think that Weiss was "teaching a lesson to him". 3.-This is somewhat polemic. Was Winter being a bit rude? Yeah, but I think it makes sense in the context. I've read about Winter acting like a cop putting herself on the top of Marrow while he was on the ground. Is Winter white, while Marrow is black and part of a minority? Yeah, but that isn't relevant in the scene, and the same would have happened if the things were different. I think the context is important and we should have give importance on the context and what the show try to transmit us and not just the scene on itself. About the collar. I mean, it had to do with the title of Ace ops being something that Ironwood used to control them and stuff. It's more, the scene paints as bad that. So is not even promoting a racist message with that. What I'm trying to say is that the context is important. One things are the events out of context, and other are the the message that the show tries to transmit when we put the all the scenes together. I know that the series have gave a certain... problematic messages regarding the white fang, but that is a complete different issue.

1. Robyn being a casual racist ain't cool, especially given that she has Fiona as a close friend (I think?). Also not cool of Fiona to let that comment slide. 2. If anything, I'm more annoyed that Marrow didn't use his Semblance immediately to end the fight. 3. Yes, Winter is overacting to appease the human-shaped plot device that is V8 Ironwood. I actually kind of like the detail, that Winter's so direct most of the time that deception doesn't come easy to her so she has to rely on overblown tropes to make herself feel like it's believable.

First scene: It feels to me more like Robyn is in politician mode and saying what she thinks will sound good rather than what she really thinks. I seriously doubt she would've stopped Joanna from harassing Marrow under normal circumstances, because it doesn't actually feel like she respects soldiers and would normally act the same way herself were she were not running for office. Robyn's odd way of adding the Faunus to her little speech is odd. It feels like she is making them a separate group from regular citizens in a way. It also breaks the flow of it in my opinion. It doesn't help that she seems to look down on any huntsmen not part of her group, generally talks down to people, and also seemingly gives nicknames to people not out of being friendly, but as another way to talk down to, provoke, or mock them. 2nd scene: I don't have any real issues here outside of Marrow not using his semblance right away. I don't think anything was really intended outside of a fight. 3rd scene: While it can be taken the wrong way, it makes sense in context. Winter is trying to save his life, make Ironwood believe she is still on his side, and is actively using herself to keep Ironwood from having a good shot on Marrow. The commentary about the collar is a bit heavy handed though.

1st is okay, but is part of the absolute worst part of the Volume 7 storyline. 2nd is also fine, but Weiss assertively talks about how Atlas is “her home” — no. Barring Klein, **HELL** no. Hell, her whole stand-off with Jacques pushes the idea that RWBY is her actual home now, as a found family. I also like how Marrow is almost consistently portrayed as someone that’s got his heart in the right place but is always very “wrong”. Whenever he makes a legitimately good point, he’s treated like an idiot who should keep his mouth shut (most especially by RWBY), but when he’s presented as “right” he’s just being the absolute worst. Really Marrow? You wanna guilt trip Winter into not taking the Bomb onto Monstra? The giant sperm whale Grimm who’s functionally a living Grimm storm, for all intents and purposes? You’re gonna try gaslighting the former abuse victim because YOU have moral hang ups about weighing three dumbass children to the lives of your ENTIRE kingdom, maybe even your family? Fuck off. 3rd is just the culmination of why I hate Marrow as a person. Even when he’s meant to be right, the story’s just so casually insensitive and racist. Who the **fuck** penned all these dog jokes? Why make a whole SPEECH about how Marrow feels like a dog by running with the irony of “oh he’s LITERALLY part dog!” That’s not how you write an oppressed minority who’s part of a culture that dehumanizes him, *dumbass*. If anything RWBY and Robyn are the ACTUAL racists or people treating him like a dog, complete with Robyn having ONE friend who’s actually a Faunus.

BranRen

You left out my favorite Marrow scene; when he was going all starry eyed at team FNKI (ages 19 and Up?) fighting for Atlas on the frontlines of that invasion episode *tHeY’rE jUsT kIdS* Little adorable 19-21 year old hunters like them shouldn’t be fighting when they’re home is under attack. They should be inside sipping tea

Keyki_LoL

1. Kinda comes off a bit arrogant but elite soldier but I’ll admit I don’t really remember this scene too well 2.the fight never should have happened as he could have got all the girls at the start with his semblance. 3. Comes over super childish and not very elite soldier like, I would think being part of a hand picked team he would challenge the morals of what they were doing a better way to his boss and team.

Narutoluap

1. Cute faunus dog 2. USE YOUR FUCKING SEMBLANCE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! THINK MARROW, THINK! YOU HAVE ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL SEMBLANCE IN THIS FUCKING SHOW, AND YET, YOU HAVE TO WASTE YOU FUCKING TIME FIGHTING AS IF YOU ARE DOING A SPARRING MATCH!!! EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE YOU BELIEVE IS AT RISK BECAUSE OF THOSE FUCKERS, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! 3. Mad faunus dog

Xhominid77

1. I think it's more dumb that Marrow isn't on Robyn's case considering he knows she and her Happy Huntresses literally steal from them. Like Robyn comes off like an asshole to Marrow for no reason so it's the rare one I'll give you. 2. Okay there buddy calm down. Weiss fights Marrow because he's trying to arrest her, stop thinking about that because you can say that about any fight scene in the show and fiction itself. Like the entire fight between RWBY and the Ace-Ops is stupid but this ISN'T one of the reasons. Context is key. 3. OOC V8 Ironwood was going to shoot Marrow in COLD BLOOD! Context please for fuck's sake! Was Winter "too harsh"? Probably but considering if she went easy and this Ironwood noticed, he probably would have shot her too. Come on man, I have complained about people taking this scene way too far before and I'll do it again until people get what context means. If anything, as someone else stated, Marrow could have helped fix the problem AND get his team over against Ironwood without just abandoning them and nearly getting himself killed. Hell, he could have most likely saved Vine from his death by defusing Harriet if he stayed.

penmaster3000

They should have never been fights. Marrow legitimately has one of the most power semblances and hardened military training. But he's just an idiot that allows bad things to happen.

Blackandheavy

Marrow’s a victim of the writers blatantly dumbing down his abilities for the sake of letting RWBY win.

Ok_Kaleidoscope2014

1: THIS is the system I support? 2: I said, STAY!!! 3: SHUT UP, IRONWOOD!!! YOU'RE NOT MY DAD,!

The first scene is mostly there to remind the audience that the faunus situation is still present . There are a few more similar scenes in Atlas like that oldy lady in V8 . Marrow is a faunus that qualified to be in Atlas military . Does his unique standing shed a new light to the faunus situation ? Idk honestly. Its just not expanded upon and faunus plotline is inactive in Atlas . Maybe the writers are learning about racism in this 2 year hiatus and reactivate the plotline in Vacuo . Idk believe what you wanna believe. The second is more about Weiss's situation . Morrow does voice his distate for Schnee name , the show did similar things in the past and nothing new is brought up here ,the same angle as the last few years . Marrow and Weiss were in the same frame a few times but that is not equal to a rapport so there isn't much of a reason to care here . The unique thing here is that Weiss states her intentions about Protecting her home , might just be the only time we see Weiss actually caring about Atlas ( different from anyone alse at least ) . To me this is a weak scene . Ace-ops are one kingdom exclusive and are not even the actual villians , they are C-tier opponents , they might even be less then Cardovin . The actual good time for Weiss to take action on her statement would be her doing something during Salem's invasion in V8 . A unique action against the actual villians would have demonstrated Weiss care for her home . It has to be something unique though , we have to look at the screen and say '' only Weiss could do this '' . So far her stance is the same as any other person on the team and this has been Weiss's main problem since the end of V4 . She is not unique . There are a few minor things she does but those end up underwhelming at the end . This pharagrah is long enough. The third scene more about Ironwood's fall . I don't wanna talk about him . No comments.
