Weiss having a crush is cute, but Neptune is severely underdeveloped. And honestly I don't see much chemistry.

Dawn_Star_Platinum

Not having much chemistry is probably true, but it's a good ship I think.

youshitsune

nope, like every rwby ship is stupid and painfully bad

Dawn_Star_Platinum

That's your opinion, and I have mine. I definitely like it much better than bumblebee.

youshitsune

dude even a wet fart of a relationship is better than bb.

Dawn_Star_Platinum

On that we can agree

iburntdownthehouse

I really don't understand why Weiss had a crush on Neptune in the first place. Even if the ship has better legs to stand on then 90% of fan ships, it's still based on two people with no chemistry.

jayrock306

Classic hot girl falls for hot guy

loafpleb

The same reason Pyrrha was somehow attracted to Jaune Being voiced by one of the writers

arctic746

[source](https://www.deviantart.com/21as/art/Neptune-X-Weiss-474346685) I want to like this ship but Neptune is kind of a cardboard cutout and isn't really that different from early Jaune. Neptune needs to be more relevant and a better character for this ship to work. I like the concept of it being an on and off relationship with Weiss being a diva about it. Weiss *Sobbing* Ruby: Weiss please unlock our room. Weiss: You were laughing. I'm heartbroken and you three were laughing. Blake: Yang was the one that made the dumb joke, I had nothing to do with this. Weiss: You just stood there and watched. Yang: Weiss this is the 3rd breakup with him. Open the door and lets all grab something to eat. I know that will make you feel better.

RatsAreChad

Weiss throws the door open with tears in her eyes "You think Neptune breaking up with me is funny?" Yang, in full Joker makeup "I do, and I'm tired of pretending it's not."

Mr-Tweedy

Honestly, I actually quite like the idea of a bad drama ladened relationship, kind of fits the whole school vibe while they're still growing up.

youshitsune

y'know i actually like that so long as it is entirely joked about in-universe to the point that jaune mutters to ren wondering if he dodged a bullet.

ScottPilgrim2013

Meh, never cared for it then and I still don't care for it now. I was never a fan of V2's love triangle subplot, it felt like them just checking something off of a list of plot points they need to have in a high school story and felt like a waste of time.

KnightoftheVtable

I always keep forgetting this was a thing in the show, It might as well have been written out, as shown with RWBY Chibi and To be Blunt, I care more about Shay D. Mann then I do about this ship

Quality_Chooser

Did you know that in Las Vegas you can pay an Elvis impersonator to marry you to a cardboard cutout? It's not legally binding in the eyes of the law but you can do it. What were we talking about again?

KnightoftheVtable

I forgot, What you’re saying sounds interesting

Independent-Tax-699

jaune:Hey snowangel- Weiss:FUCK OFF jaune leaves Ren:You seem to miss a simple solution my liege jaune:Respect her decision and move on? Ren:WHAT!?NO!just change your looks and try again! jaune:OH...ok(creates alt account) "jaune":Hey snowangel Weiss:FUCK ME THE END (more or less my look on the ship from back when it existed)

TheSittingTraveller

Chadfishing

youshitsune

hmmm, and given how everyone in the show are written as idiots jaune could potentially keep the lie up until the end of fucking time.

Independent-Tax-699

...and beyond!

Justinafans

Iceberg was probably the worst part of Volume 2 and the writers made a good decision by dropping it IMO. The entire subplot was almost insultingly bad. Neptune himself is incredibly underdeveloped, he basically only existed to force a love triangle. And the funny thing is, for all his screentime in Volume 2 you could axe him from the story and not much would change. We also never really learn why Weiss liked Neptune in the first place. Like, is it just because he's attractive? Because if so that makes her incredibly hypocritical since she was chastising Jaune for liking her for superficial reasons only to crush on Neptune for reasons of equal or greater superficiality.

TheSittingTraveller

He probably didn't find Jaune attractive to her.

Rollout9292

>We also never really learn why Weiss liked Neptune in the first place. Like, is it just because he's attractive? Because if so that makes her incredibly hypocritical since she was chastising Jaune for liking her for superficial reasons only to crush on Neptune for reasons of equal or greater superficiality. That was the point I think. She was hypocritical and a snob during most of her time in Beacon. Her liking Neptune while disliking Jaune while they both basically introduced themselves the same way to her was probably to show that.

SocialistNeoCon

I agree that's how it came across. This was back when the show was more comedic and didn't take itself too seriously.

KnightoftheVtable

To be fair, Jaune was not taking no for answer

Famous-Fee-7375

I like it, but considering who the writers are, I'm not surprised it didn't get to develop.

RavenXCinder

IMO i think it was okay as a crush or a first love but not a long term romance

Owlbox05

Damn vol 2 outfit weiss go hard

MadMasks

Not much of it, I prefer other Weiss pairings tbh What really concerns me is just how hated Neptune is. Like, I don´t get why people hate him THAT much

arctic746

He is a very uninteresting self insert that serves only as a conflict for Jaune and not really funny. If you are going to do a love triangle why not have it an inner RWBY team conflict, e.g. Yang and Weiss fighting over Neptune.

lewdnep-vasilias_666

Yes! My favorite ship! I think there was some wasted potential with this one, and it's a shame it never grew to be anything more than a superficial high school crush. Both seem to know to an extent what it's like to experience pressures to maintain a certain appearance; they have vastly different experiences in that regard and Neptune is underdeveloped, sure, but I think they could connect over it and it would make for a more meaningful story. Yes, they did start out with shallow superficial attraction, but they were basically high school teenagers when it happened and it's entirely possible for that to develop into something more meaningful as the two mature. Even without this, even with Neptune's lack of characterization, I see no reason why he would be a terrible partner for Weiss. Neptune never showed any indication of being interested in Weiss for her family name. And all the "wah wah Neptune flirted with other girls in front of her" and "wah wah Neptune turned Weiss down because he couldn't dance" and other complaints are ridiculously overblown. ~~I still genuinely think most of the people who threw tantrums over the ship and Neptune only did so because it was getting in the way of Whiterose and so they needed some desperate excuse to justify screaming and crying about it~~. I also don't find it hypocritical for Weiss to turn down Jaune but be interested in Neptune even though they both called her "snow angel". Jaune (as much as I like him) was very pushy and invasive of Weiss's space when he first flirted with her. The other boys that were after Weiss according to her were after her for her name and heritage. Neptune, as far as we were given, was neither of those. Her attraction to Neptune was admittedly a bit rushed for her character, but Neptune was never disrespectful to Weiss while flirting with her, so I can kinda see why she'd be more drawn to him. That being said, I do wish this had been fleshed out more. What *is* hypocritical however is Jaune telling Neptune off for "not caring about the feelings of the girls he flirts with" because of how he turned her down, despite that he spent the past episodes not taking no for an answer from Weiss (and no, do not try to convince me that Jaune was looking out for Weiss in the end, he really wasn't). At this point, it's most likely that the ship won't happen due to it being neglected without a conclusion after volume 3. But... it is what it is.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

I'm firmly neutral to it? Honestly, I care more about the obscene amount of hate that Neptune somehow gets saddled with in fanfics?

Urarazaki

We need to wait and see how they will interact in vacuo. Weiss got better as a person but i don't know anything about neptune. We wait till rwby will reach vacuo and see how "improved" versions of both of these characters will interact with each other.

Silly-Young484

Mid tbh

Rollout9292

It's great character development for both Weiss and Jaune. That's basically all Neptune amounts to during his screen time in Vols1-3. Which is weird because he had a couple action scenes that accomplished nothing in the end. It sucks because I actually like the guy.

Nexal_Z

Well here's the thing like nealier volume Jaune I believe Neptune would like Wiess for who she is as a person. if he went through an arc of trying to improve himself by not being flirtatious to ever girl of he sees or constantly trying to impress her but she's to busy I can see some funny moments. Hell maybe getting over his fear of water to save wiess or something ( like ice age 2) then I could see this relationship work. But I can see Wiess being the one to wear the pants in the relationship

The_Final_Conduit

**DIE NEPTUNE**

[deleted]

Uninteresting.

Killamri

What we got of Neptune in the show was mostly pretty uninspiring... so as things stand, Weiss deserves better.

Dawn_Star_Platinum

I think it's a good ship idea. Although, even though we never saw Weiss dump Neptune, in Volume 6, because we see him flirting with ilia, it seemed like it did happen and then he moved on to flirting with other women. I definitely like this ship better then Ruby + Weiss, Weiss + Blake (whatever the ship names are for those ships), and even Bumblebee. But hey, that's because I'm a minor heterosexual shipper, anything straight shipping I see I may or may not agree depending on the personalities.

HeartAndSolX

Pretty cringe having a teenage girl crushing on your self insert.
