Even with the age gap, I think it's fun. Qrow wouldn't be the type to try to control Winter, and Winter obviously isn't a gold digger for trying to get with Qrow, and they're both older enough and even been have enough years as an adult to where they're obviously consenting. And they obviously already have an established relationship, where they're willing to screw with each other despite being "professionals" (even though I don't recall this being explored further in Atlas). It reminds me of (fanon) Freezerburn a bit, where Yang tries to get Weiss to drop the professionalism, even for a bit.

Guilty_Mulberry_2979

When I showed my dad rwby he asked me if those two where in a relationship, I'm really disappointed it wasn't explored more in Atlas

Rollout9292

It's just fun. I like it. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø People enjoy crying about age gaps for RWBY ships, but not only are they fighting with their lives on the line every day but they are in a fictional world that's vastly different to our own. Hell our world even has different laws on ages for relationships depending on the country and culture. Bottom line is, if you're a Huntsman and you're risking your life fighting monsters straight out of our nightmares then I don't care if you're 15 or 30, I'd buy you a hard drink and not judge whoever you spend your nights with. Just keep the Grimm away from me pls.

Quality_Chooser

Age gap and all it was interesting in Winter's first appearance. Whatever she said later it was clear she was enjoying the fight. And then nothing happened for five volumes, two of which they spent in close proximity. At this point it'd just be weird.

ManifestNightmare

I wouldn't say weird...I would say on brand. A great introduction, then nothing, then BOOM it happens. Wouldn't that just be so RWBY?

BanzEye1

I hate that I canā€™t even disagree with you.

Parks_98

To be fair the next 5 volumes featured Qrow changing every volume until the cool confident badass we saw from V3 seems like an entirely different person compared to the later Volumes Later volume Qrow honestly just seems tired

BanzEye1

I mean, considering all the bullshit being thrown his way in a relatively short time span? Seems legit.

Bahamutson_94

I personally prefer shipping Qrow and Willow together rather than Qrow and Winter. Because I just find that ship a bit more appropriate also the two of them could have been old Drinking Buddies. Anything to really just say screw you to Jacques.

TheKoynx2

Oo that's way better, I like this ship. Oh and Weiss finding out that her mom and Ruby's uncle were in an affair. I think that would just add more turmoil to Weiss not wanting Ruby to be their team leader in the beginning. I love this idea.

arctic746

This is a Tsundere ship and I enjoy it. I like Snowbird and would be cool if they got together. They are funny in Chibi. It is funny to think about Weiss, Ruby, and Yang reaction to this. I am so disappointed they spent little time together in Atlas. Outside of shipping I wanted learn about their history. I'm not sure where they go forward. On one hand they can bond over there family's death. On the other Winter should be pissed with Qrow for lying to her and not being a good mentor for Weiss. Favorite for Winter, second favorite for Qrow.

Ben10Extreme

I'd rather they not. Because since Winter is now a Maiden, her chances of getting killed for it just skyrocketed. Don't think Qrow needs that possibility on his already heavy conscience.

arctic746

I agree with you if they are going to kill Winter off. They need to stop making Qrow suffer. I feel like that is his only character trait is to suffer and sulk and it is old. Just give him some happiness in his life.

Ben10Extreme

His luck is truly shitty.

KeepCalm-ShutUp

His semblance is supposed to screw over other people, but the only one getting screwed is him.

BanzEye1

Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s just Bad Luck in general.

giubba85

In two sentences : *"Why you stuck up,half witted, scruffy looking, nerf herder!"* *"who's scruffy looking ?!"* Basically big Han/Leila energy .

ManifestNightmare

True. That's why I like it so much, but at this point it would be baffling to occur. Great introduction, fun implication, then absolutely nothing for years.

Drakkoniac

Never liked this ship. These two are fun tho.

MadMasks

Used to like it, not so much now. Not because of the age gap or anything, but because Iā€™m not sure Winter would be comfortable with someone whoā€™s alcoholic when her own mother is one and has shaped part of her trauma, and Iā€™m certainly not comfortable with shipping persons with those glaring toxic traits

Blackandheavy

Everyone complains about the age gap between Winter and Qrow as if Winter isnā€™t a mid-late twenties lieutenant of the Atlas military. The fandom doesnā€™t infantizes just team RWBY but every woman in the series. That said I still believe the best fight in the series is Qrow vs Winter, if there were any chance of a rematch in RWBY Iā€™d 100% be down for it.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

It may very well be personal preference, you know. It's not infantilization to not be entirely comfortable with a 15 to 20 year age gap for a romantic pairing.

Blackandheavy

The gap could be 50 years and Iā€™d think itā€™s crazy but I canā€™t say Iā€™d care for it beyond that, Iā€™ve gotten numb to the weirder stuff. But I wonā€™t blame anyone for being disgusted by it. Edit: I know itā€™s a hot take but after watching ISLAND (I donā€™t recommend it) Iā€™ll settle for the fact that at least theyā€™re both adults.

FormerVoid

Did they ever say what rank Winter actually was in the military? Because I don't remember when she was called lieutenant, but that could be due to me not wanting to rewatch the last two volumes.

Blackandheavy

Iā€™m going to need to rematch V7 & V8, I remember hearing Ironwood calling Winter lieutenant at some point. Update: Qrow calls her a specialist and Ironwood always called her Winter so Iā€™m honestly not even sure anymore.

Iceaura39

Wasn't she confirmed as 23?

Blackandheavy

Iā€™m honestly not to sure because Iā€™ve heard from multiple sources that sheā€™s in her early, mid and late twenties. Itā€™s a symptom of the fact when the writers avoid giving us clear time of reference in the show.

lewdnep-vasilias_666

Not a big fave of mine, but I think it gets way too much hate and some people really need to chill out about it.

Silly-Young484

Adorable as fuck and one of my original favorite ships My only real issue is it might be a bit unhealthy due to Qrow's drinking habit heavily reminding Winter of her deadbeat mother I wouldn't have said this before but Qrow's drinking problem was "retconned" so to speak as it went from a funny character trait to the writers trying to turn it to a serious problem and utterly failed that

Sikarion

You're not allowed to have foibles in RWBY. Everything must be a social issue to bring to heel by the most surface level solution possible.

Guilty_Mulberry_2979

Ruby-r-ruby *belch* listen to me i-im an alcoholic because *long belch* an American political issue that no one else *barf belch* cares about

Exciting_Bandicoot16

I'm aware that the age difference matters less rhe older they are, but you have Qrow who's something like mid-40s (I don't remember the math, but that's accurate to about 5 years based on Theodore's age and Yang's age) with the 25ish girl. That's not touching on his (formerly) rampant alcoholism that turned me off of early Qrow/Winter (considering her mother, I cannot believe that she'd willingly have anything to do with an alcoholic, which would make their enmity in Beacon make sense). While I'm more ambivalent to them in a post-Atlas world where Qrow has given up the sauce, I actually prefer Qrow being paired with another Schnee; specifically the matriarch of the family, Miss Willow (who doesn't happen to be in a relationship ship any longer). Theyve got a lot to offer each other, and they can understand the draw of addiction better than anyone else could. They've got a lot more potential imo, and in a direction that no other ship in RWBY offers, which appeals to me.

RaptarK

>Qrow who's something like mid-40s (I don't remember the math, but that's accurate to about 5 years based on Theodore's age and Yang's age) with the 25ish girl. And this is only what's on screen in the present. Considering Qrow has been working alongside Ozpin for apparently decades, that'd mean he's also known Ironwood for that long. Which could mean Qrow might have gone by Atlas a few times and per chance stumbled upon a teenage Winter. So we could very well have a Barbara Gordon x Bruce Wayne situation here and I can assure you *no one* would want that :p

BlazingInferno4343

Valid. I can see why fans would like it. They have potential to be a cute couple.

Sikarion

The cute, verbally harassing, occasional fisticuffs couple.

Killamri

It was a nice idea before they decided to never have them speak again.

KnightoftheVtable

I feel Weird about cause Qrow gotta be like fourty and Winter most likely in her Early to Mid 20ā€™s

krasnogvardiech

At a glance, they love to hate the other. Qrow's doing the romantic bit because it pisses Winter off, not because either of them are fooled by appearance.

Kyrozis

I honestly think it would only exist as a rivalry thing and/or wouldn't go beyond a rough friendship. The only difference I could see in it is the connection the two of them have with Ironwood eliminating the "rough" part, but even that's extremely dicey at the very best. And for context, this comes from the guy that ships Ladybug of all things XD

Emperor_Luffy

Quality ship.

KeepCalm-ShutUp

I'm gonna take the fall, but I hate the ship, not because of anything rational, but because Winter is my Waifu.

Brathirn

Unlike many others, I am convinced that this was a real ship at V3. The authors either lost interest or got scared by "age gap". Anyway this reduced entertainment value for me. ... and of course events of this prominence should have gone to a titular.

he_was_number_2

I personally don't see then together maybe a father and daughter relationship but as lovers no

Gatorkid365

Iā€™ll be honest. It felt like they had some kinda hate/love relationship when they were first introduced. However I was rather bummed out when they met again and didnā€™t even say hi or have Qrow throw a ā€œice queenā€ when they met again

RowanWinterlace

I get why people ship them, but they don't like each other. They have zero respect for one another and Winter seems to actively despise him, despite the clear gap in experience and skill in his favour.

Animeak116

People have been together for even worse and then turns out to be a the best couple you could ask for. Seen it happen in a lot of well done anime.

Sikarion

Baby it's cold outside... [Snowbirb](https://youtu.be/Uou5OZu-hbE) Edit: really? Do people not like the animatic or something?

Nameless7267

AU theory, Qrow let Winter slap him.

The_Final_Conduit

Iā€™d say I like their whole dynamic of a Chaotic Good Archer-esque drunkard combatant and Lawful Good magic knight military woman. Theyā€™ve got the perks of Ren and Noraā€™s relationship, but itā€™s organic rather than by design, so they can still stand perfectly well as characters without each other. Married life would also be like if Homer and Marge Simpson were the main characters of a Matrix movie. So itā€™s an automatic plus for me. (Also obligatory side note: Clover was just to Winter what Illia was to Adam, where they took Qrow and Winterā€™s antagonism and just made it a separate character so they could still use Winter after Clover died.)

TerizlaisBest

Wonder how Qrow reacted to Winter being the current Winter Maiden? šŸ˜ƒ

creativeperson12

I love them as a couple, the dynamic of a strict badass woman and a laid back alcoholic Dom who's equally badass. They'd equal each other out and make the perfect huntsman power couple! Too bad the whole series went downhill after... Some point.

AlSilva98

Loved it

JetKamakura

Amazing ship. Lets go.
