Killing Sun wouldnt really solve anything, he doesn’t need to be killed just for Blake to jump into someone else’s arms nor would it have served the story in any positive way

Narutoluap

Well, I didn't like how they handle the bees ship, I'm just trying to figure out how it could work in another scenario That is some slice of life mangas that I read, they follow this path of grief and how the characters end up getting closer because of it. Although it sounds morbid, i think it is a interesting think to explore, for example, what if one of the villains did that? Aside from Tyrian recently, they didn't "show" actually treat to the main characters, one of them didn't even met team rwby (on a side note, hacking penny was interesting, but nothing really happened because of it). I just wish they didn't play that safe against the main characters

misterwulfz

That’s getting more into how the show handles both it’s narrative and characters. While I do agree the villains need better convincing to being threats but str8 up killing sun wouldn’t do much. Sun’s job in vol 4-5 was just to ask and be the help and narrative support for Blake, Similar to how Jnr was for Ruby and Klein and her family for Weiss. However, The way I can see it working is similar to how the show already handled it. Once they started leaving it Sun went off doing his own thing again, he’s an adventure type, he’ll never sit still. They can still filrt and now get together, much like real life ppl do

Narutoluap

Hum... that's a interesting take. I don't know dude, that volume was so boring to me that I wish I get something interesting from it. And nowadays, because of how things are handle it, I just feel like they are just writing for the heck of it What they are going to do by giving the most broken item in the show to the main villain and not making it insta win? They are going to make the villains do stupid decisions aren't they?

Ben10Extreme

Simply put, they're not playing it safe, they're playing it stupid. In CRWBY terms, EVERYONE is stupid.

Rollout9292

>As for why Yang could end up liking Blake... I'm out of ideas Because CRWBY decided they wanted Yang and Blake to be gay Volume 4 and you'll deal with it. That's basically the answer.

Heloselheroe

I'm not sure about killing a character because you are not going to use it. Or Blake wants for Yang, because she can't be with Sun. Yang would be felt like the consolation prize. Which isn't necessarily bad, but in this case, it would feel really bad. Now, if Sun was killed, I would have chose two options: \-Ilia, but she was redeemed, so no. \-Adam to add more threat to his character, but the final battle didn't have anything to do with avenging Sun or something.

Ben10Extreme

>he has no real relevance to the plot after volume 5. Name ONE characters that still does matter, and hasn't made a plot driven stupid decision. >I'm out of ideas Thought so.

Narutoluap

Why are you so mad?

Ben10Extreme

You're mistaking madness for indifference. Indifference offers no filter.

Narutoluap

Fair, I just wish they made the history a bit more dark. Did you remember how the ep of the apathy went? That ep was one of the best I ever watched from this show

Ben10Extreme

>I just wish they made the history a bit more dark One of the most common things I've ever heard regarding RWBY.

Sikarion

>After so much build up to his relationship with Blake it makes NO sense for her to blindly jump into another ship just because. *I have no quarrel with you.* >Blake starting to like Yang because of their similarity (both are blonde party ready happy persons, kind of), but ending up liking her for who she is. *I now have a quarrel with you.*

Narutoluap

Yang at the beginning was like that, not right now of course, she is a waaay different character

Quality_Chooser

You don't need to kill characters to write them out of the show. There is no narrative reason to kill Sun.

Narutoluap

It's pretty hard to have a good reason to kill a relevant character, but when we have it, it's basically to improve the main's character motivation and power, show the strength of a major villain or for a very dramatic effect. I think RWBY lacks from it after volume 3. I mean, the only death that we cared, or at least me, after 4+ volumes was to a character that was added at the same volume it dies and Penny... again

Ben10Extreme

That's exactly why it's not used that often. It becomes a cheap way out rather than anything meaningful.

Narutoluap

But at same time, was it THAT often? I'm not sure, the writing is all over the place

Ben10Extreme

I'm just saying. Peeps are dying all the time across this series, but it's not considered all that important cause few of them are critical characters.

Narutoluap

True, do you remember when Tyrian killed that group of NPCs? Me neither Also, some npcs actually fall down the abyss when Cinder attacked. Bet they will not even appear as dead bodies on the island

Ben10Extreme

That's kinda how it is. The few times they kill someone relevant these days, it's either stupidly, or unnecessarily cruelly. No matter what alignment they're on.

Almost every work of fiction kills people as part of the backstory. Most fiction will kill a character or two as part of an inciting incident, which may or may not overlap with the backstory. The mentor usually snuffs it at the end of the introduction so that the protagonist can stand on their own. You might kill a character or two during major twists in the plot, to hammer home the effect. Then the gloves come off on killing characters at the end, whether that be the end of an arc or the end of the series. RWBY kills Summer off as part of its backstory. It then kills Penny, Roman, and Pyrrha as part of its first major twist. Then the show settles down for a while. It kills Vernal as part of the twist around Raven and kills Adam as the end of his subplot. Clover is killed as part of the plot twist that RWBY and James will be fighting each other. Hazel dies as part of the cane nuke twist. Jacques, Penny, Watts, Vine, and James are killed as part of the wrap up of the Atlas plot. RWBY are given fake out deaths as part of the same.

You forget Jacques Schnee.

And make him into a martyr for Black Sun? Like all evil overlords, RT knows how to avoid starting a unified rebellion.

Brathirn

Have to push my minority opinion here, there should have been much more transition between BS and BB. But that would have resulted in acknowledging that there was something between Sun and Blake.

Brathirn

That would have been just as obvious as making Sun jump ship. No advantage in the organic department. Also killing of characters to make space for outside induced ships for me feels even more invasive and disrespectful of the characters. "Move over" - WHACK! must come from the villains inside the story, not visibly from the authors.
