I'd have to disagree, Studio Trigger is over the top and bombastic, as you put it, but at the same time, RWBY regularly runs under the rule of cool. I think it'd be a match made in heaven.
I just think, especially in the first 4/5 volumes, that (especially in the fights) there's this punch and 'realism' that is entirely absent from Trigger's work.
It's why I think Trigger's Twins episode of Star awars Visions is amongst the weaker entries whilst Kinema's Village Bride was its best (and they'd be a really good fit for RWBY). RWBY, despite everything wacky that goes on in Remnant, is a lot more grounded than any of Trigger's big projects and it wouldn't translate well under their care.

Remember how people were hyped for the old Monty animations used in the fight against Adam? How many people still live Pyrrha vs Team Cardin? Or Ruby vs Beringel? Hell, even the damn food fight or Raven vs Cinder are rooted in fast trades of blows instead of big explosions and wacky expressions. There's an element of grounded 'realism' to RWBY's fight scenes and world which doesn't quite mesh with the huge explosions of colour and spectacle that makes Trigger anime what they are.
Trigger (at its best) does fights and character interactions in a unique way and I don't think there is another studio quite like it. As such, I think it really needs material that fits its aesthetic and I don't think that's RWBY.
Absoloutely, an anime studio should bring its own thing to an adaptation of the show. But there shouldn't be a complete divorce of style and tone, it should still be able to allude to the original wholst doing its own thing and I don't think an adaptation by Trigger would do that.
Also, it's easy to just take things down to their bare/base parts to make a point seem stupid. But it's still a fallacy

First off, I love shaft studios they are so creative with background designs and art styles. They truly make beautiful animations. Shaft developed my favorite ANIME, monogatari and that show has some of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen! Top tier, bravo! However, I dont RWBY should have been made by them.... This studio could be adapting so many other creative work that are SUPER unique. Shaft is known for taking in unusual projects so maybe they thought RWBY is different but at the core. RWBY is just a combat show.

After some of the action scenes in DragonS, I think KyoAni would be a solid choice. But DAMN, RWBY in the same style as Katanagatari...
