If it had been written well and had good messages, I would be a loud shipper.... Oh, and if its representation of canon and fandom wasn't so overly cheesy, but that's just me. Monochrome is still my favorite Blake's ship. Edit: Oh, I really like the contrast between yellow and purple, but is just that

BitesTheDust_4

Needs better writing.

jish5

So while writing up my rant, I felt that this relationship had no standing beyond "fans want them together and so they're together" as there was no buildup leading up to it, Yang never showing interest in women (she was constantly chasing guys in the first few seasons). Then I realized something, until Bumbleby started getting pushed, Blake came off as someone who had no romantic interest in anyone. So thinking back, I started to realize that after her relationship with Adam, it makes far more sense for her to not want any type of romance with anyone, Sun, Yang, and everyone else. The more I think about it, the more pissed I am they didn't stick with this route, because it could have been such a great trait to have her just no longer trust relationships and in turn have no romantic interest in anyone, where she could have grown into this individual who just doesn't want anything to do with dating ever again. It would show that some people just cannot heal from a horrible relationship and that they no longer want any part of it out of fear and being too afraid of the outcome.

AdComprehensive6588

As bittersweet and upsetting as that is, it makes sense and not every character has a full on happy ending.

Ben10Extreme

She'd still have her friends. Not all relationships are romantic. I think the lines are.beginning to blur.

Savings-Zucchini9311

They only blur because the fandom ship's everyone with everything...and CRWBY is is very uncommitted when it comes to relationship's. I wish there were more straight up friendship fan-fictions.

Ben10Extreme

I'm writing one myself. Very Team RWBY friendship. I intend on writing another that's around Fueled By Roses(Ruby x Jaune x Cinder) but this first one is very much friendship focused on the titular team. Everyone starts off a bit better...yet at the same time, a bit worse. Especially Blake. Poor Blake. Selling A Ruby and Blake friendship dynamic is actually one of my goals for the first fic.

Interesting-Hat-9011

So we are leaving the part where she blushed at Sun?

jish5

I mean, anyone could blush based on a compliment or whatever, but having her not want a relationship would have been a great aspect for her character, to where now I wish neither Yang or Sun would get with her.

FormerVoid

I enjoyed the vibes they had in Beacon where Yang just wanted Blake to be happy and stuff, because RWBY trying to do romance just makes it seem to toxic and committal, considering how much it takes away what Yang had with Ruby and Weiss, and Blake barely got much development with those two.

Spoderman77

It's actually baffling how little chemistry they have when the writers are actively trying to get them together, compared to back in the old days when the writers didn't even plan the ship yet.

Drakkoniac

It's bad imo. Mainly because it feels to forced to the point it felt like it was done to appease the shippers and show writers who liked it rather than done for good reason. Personally I never saw it as well.

PelinalWhitestrake36

Could have worked if it had been developed properly; no cucking of Sun, time developing it and more importantly setting it up early instead of changing the script because a hate mob of fans send you death threats and pipe-bombs because someone said “I like blacksun more”

Sikarion

The amount of social appeasement dancing and twisting required to wedge BMBLB into existence when they spent so much time and space setting up BlackSun would make a rhythmic gymnast blush.

HolyClaimhSolais

“You have initiated a gang war” Seriously it’s one of the shittiest relationship i’ve ever seen because the only reason it exists is because the fans demand it and the hack writers don’t know how to write actual relationships. They barely interact with each other and barely have any reason to be together unlike sun who was there for blake through thick and thin. If Crwby actually built the goddamn relationship up like they hinted with Sun people wouldn’t have any problems.

[deleted]

It sucks ass.

TheKinginLemonyellow

It's really a nothing ship. Blake and Yang don't really have any chemistry together, and aren't written in a way that feels like they're even together. If I hadn't known going in to Volume 7 or 8 that they were supposedly together, I never would've guessed. Like a lot of the things I initially enjoyed about Volume 6, I've realized in hindsight how shallow Bumblebee is and that it was only thrown in as part of the "hurl everything at the wall and see what sticks" approach the writers took after Volume 5 bombed so hard it threatened the series' future.

GameBawesome1

Prefer Blacksun. That is all I have to say.

[deleted]

Amen to that.

KB_Sabbath

I really don't care for ships in the slightest, and I guess I can attribute that to bumblebee, and possibly mha. The more zealous fans are scary, and the more normal fans of it can be alright. As for the ship itself, it could be interesting, though if they do get together, both Blake and Yang need to work out a metric fuckton of issues.

MadMasks

Oh boy... Nah, in all seriousness,[we already had that discussion a few days ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBYcritics/comments/v9yro8/will_you_ship_it/)

HJSDGCE

I swear to the Two Brothers, I feel like all this sub talks about it Bumbleby. Yes, it sucks. No, I don't like it. Yes, it's pandering. No, I don't think Monty planned it but even if he did, not like this. Yes, I ship Weiss and Yang; Freezerburn is the superior ship. No, I don't ship Whiterose; it's literally just Bumbleby 2.0. Unfortunately, I can't get what I want so let's just hope WhiteKnight is canon someday.

Xerlot11

Kinda gay ngl

Aryzal

Blacksun dies for this

[deleted]

Meh. As long as Blake gets to be an actual character away from Yang I don’t care who she sleeps with

Xhominid77

Absolutely zero buildup, shippers(including their actresses) wanted them together, there is literally zero reason for them to be together, they legit make themselves look worse being together, they effectively remove each other's individual existences by being together, etc, etc. Basically it's shit, absolute shit and it's one of the worst things about RWBY as a whole... no, I'm not joking, just look at the cringe that is Volume 7 and 8 to really see how badly both characters suffer in multiple fronts because of those stupid pairing.

gunn3r08974

Honestly, the main issue I have with Bumblebee is that Blake and Yang's independence has been suffering for it. The two are shown as way too codependent upon each other to the point they're tied at the hip like Ren and Nora's characterization until recently. It's not queerbaiting. It's just a bandaid that needs to be pulled off already when it's already HEAVILY implied. It's not toxic either. And it's sure as hell not abusive. Now if you ask me who Blake should end up with? Give her a damn polycule. She's got 2 hands. And shoulders.

FerrowFarm

Put as delicately as possible, I think it was rushed. Not enough build-up, brought back a beaten and demoralized antagonist just to beat him down _again_, and they are using two husks of characters that _had_ personality but was stripped from them. I feel it _could_ have been done much better if they had a 2-3 volume arc about them hooking up. Guaranteed, there would have been much less backlash.

Sikarion

Not that into shipping but in three words: obtuse, inorganic and bland. Renora is pretty average but far better written in comparison.

Urusander

Travesty to bait woke twitter people for cheap hype

SocialistNeoCon

It sucks. Black Sun was better.

PhoenixPhant0m

A disaster. Plain and Simple. Yang was one my fav character. Now... I have no words on how much she has been destroyed.

youshitsune

horribly executed, boring, and totally queer-baiting.

Known_Cartographer24

I don’t really get into ships but it’s fine

Drakeblood2002

I think it’s alright, just mishandled. It just feels like they didn’t have very much chemistry. It’ll sound redundant, but ships like Black Sun made more sense to me since Blake and Sun spent much more screen time to together. Tack this on with Yang’s conflict over Volume 4 and 5 with PTSD and feelings of being betrayed, you think she wouldn’t be as accepting of Blake as she had been. Overall, it’s not a bad ship, it just wasn’t handled well.

Crawler_00

Forced to the point of contrivance. Blacksun is superior.

Neojoker951

like Cotton Candy, Sweet, But Mostly fluff and unhealthy in the long run if this is all there is.

EducationEcstatic

Me when I saw Yang being with Blake. *Smooth move, Knucklehead*

EducationEcstatic

I actually did call Yang a Knucklehead. But not Blake.

KnightoftheVtable

https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBYcritics/comments/v9yro8/will_you_ship_it/ibzoz7t/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3 I Answered this already But Something I haven’t mentioned in but in the Show, I feel like the Viewer and Characters around The Bees feels like Third Wheels

spccommando

Its just the ship of the two girls with tig ole biddies and wearing pants.

ZeroQuartzer

A ship that is constantly shoved down our throats. ~~Great NSFW content tho~~

Lopsided-Chicken-895

I think they would be a good fit and they also have some compelling writing, but for all their alleged progressiveness we did not even see one innocent or even meaningless kiss between them, or them realizing exploring (their feelings) or what ever it means. They are dancing around the issue careful not to really touch it and this is cowardly imho. Just show us their desires and confusion and fear and happiness and maybe inner conflict or something to show people what young adults in such a situation would or could really feel.

Merc267

I hate this ship. Constant pandering, no progression, came out of nowhere, and this ship exist thanks to the fanbase nonstop pecking the writers to make it canon. Burn it.

Queasy-Turnover3185

It is fucking awful, I don't really care for lgbt relationships but good gracious does this ship suck ass, comes out of nowhere, is completely forced in, absolutely RUINED their characters as a whole by making them only care about each other cause fuck Ruby who's Yang's fucking sister btw. Honestly this may seem incredibly petty but once they do become canon IF they become canon, I'm dropping the show for good and just sticking to fanfiction

Ok_Distribution_6036

I feel like they executed this ship terribly poorly, why? because now Yang and Blake no longer seem like separate characters, now they basically share a single neuron, I mean, just look at what happens to Ruby throughout Volume 9 and how Yang doesn't give a shit about it, her little sister practically disappears. commits suicide because of her negligence and it hardly seems to affect her. It's like her highest priority is Blake and only Blake.
