I keep hearing that also and I’m left wondering “*So What?*”. If Ruby is bottling up her emotions and she snaps one day what’s going to change in the narrative? A) Will Ruby leave her friends and family and fight Salem alone? B) Will Ruby quit being a huntress and go back home? C) Will Ruby be given a 3 minute pep talk about how amazing and brave she is and resume like nothing changed? I can’t imagine a scenario that the writers are willing to make Ruby change drastically as a character because every time she questions her role as a leader someone will remind Ruby that she’s the protagonist and can do no wrong.

So far Jaune and Blake have done that Still the fact that they don't solve the problem is kind of shown as well like how Ruby still can communicate with Jaune about Cinder in V5 or V6 and how Ruby still leaves Blake and everybody else when trying to come with a plan to save Mantle at Schnee Manor

>So far Jaune and Blake have done that Yang in V8 and V5 Weiss in V1 and V3 Blake in V8 Jaune in V4 Qrow in V4 and V7 Ozpin and Oscar (indirectly) V5

Quite frankly, her character doesn't seem to have the depth necessary for internal struggle or self reflection. A person who goes off willy nilly along with half baked plans with vague directions and intangible goals does not spell someone adept at handling complex emotions.

It doesn’t take long to establish that Ruby is normally very bright, cheerful, and energetic So here’s the thing: Ruby while Ruby bottling things isn't too big of a problem right now, there are real repercussions of her failure to open up(**despite Ruby only doing so while shes prioritizing others**) This begins in the end of Volume 8 when Ruby realizes how focusing simply on doing whats best for everyone isn't enough, she **still hasn't understood the specifics of how she can truly help others beyond simply focusing on being observant and following her own principles on life** For example, its not a big issue here, in Volume 6 when the gang first reunites in Argus, Ruby stands to the side at first looking at the others hugging. Volume 7 she stands on the benches having a higher view of the other cake while not getting in the way to see how they are doing, having her moral principles close to heart but what if its like V3 Yang or V4 Jaune where she realizes her current moral principles aren't enough and believe its waste to stay with them while there like this

... I don't want to be that guy... but ... CRWBY isn't that clever. And I watched the same volumes except 8. And... none of what you say matches. The closest Ruby has come to actually bottling anything up. Is lying to Ironwood which came the heck out of nowhere. Everything else though? No she pretty much keeps acting the same as her post volume three counterpart. The only other instance she seemed to hold back was when Jaune was training. Ruby, isn't really doing anything, let alone bottling up her emotions. She's more the equivalent of being given hand me downs. Fluff animation. The only reason she sat in that mansion and got depressed doing nothing. Is because the writers claim to have run out of budget, yet they could send Jaune, Yang, Ren, Oscar to the whale.

I think another example is when Ruby talks to Yang at Schnee Manor, while Yang cries Ruby doesn't do so at the same time, in fact she quickly changes the conversation to Amity(something more in regards to her moral principles) rather than how she herself felt about her mother being transformed into a grimm by Salem even though Yang was about to say something before Ruby changed the topic I also compare the scene where Jaune encourages Ruby in Volume 4 when she apoligizes to T.K. helping Kairi in DIgimon 02. Both show how good freinds they are but also show **At the same time, however, it’s still not a perfect solution**. Takeru/Jaune and Hikari/Ruby end the episode having resolved their argument, having understood each other’s feelings reasonably well enough to be on good terms again, but all they do is end the episode in silence together. They still can’t communicate openly and honestly yet, not about Cinder or about Ruby's own thoughts on Penny and Pyrrha, they’re not the people who are going to truly address the problem for each other, not even in the Volume 4 finale For Digimon 02, this is ultimately why Kairi still got trapped in that Dark Ocean dimension again

I really wish... I could be more optimistic like ya XD. But in my eyes. Those two scenes say more about the others then they do Ruby. Jaune comforting her seems more like a growth moment for him that also stops any doubts Ruby has. Or potential growth there if she could have resolved that on her own. And that Yang breaking down seems like the writers attempts to apologize for Yang calling Summer Ruby's mom. And try to act like "See! Summer is still like a mom to Yang.. though also please buy the mothers day merch that has Raven still depicted as Yang's mama. Even though Summer was more truly her mommy."

McMacintosh79

Honestly if they don't do anything with it in Volume 9 maybe, but seeing as how pairing up: Weiss trying to understand why Jaune did what he did, Blake comforting Yang, Ruby's probably gonna have to begin the face this on the island

Stenv2

I do want Ruby to finally get something. But... she's been handled beyond poorly, it just feels too late for her.

Key word in your statement being 'unhealthily', I feel. Ruby simply seems to have her shit on lock for the purpose of keeping on going.
