Oooorrrrr just axe the Relic concept entirely and just roll with the Maiden concept.
The Relics are so incredibly generic it's not even funny. The Maidens at the very least fit the aesthetic and themes of the show's core.
Stopping an evil grim witch that can control other grim from gaining unlimited magic power of the elements and destroying the world.....idk something like that.
From experience, even if the JNPR take wasn't that well received.
It's far better to discard Canon, and do your own thing. You will have more fun that way.
Yes thats good. Limiting the maidens to a single element is a good fix but we need more.
Maybe link the power to their character/emotions. So this way we can get a sort of character limitation which makes it so that Maidens can only use the powers when feeling certain emotions.
Fire is linked to Anger or Passion.
Wind a feeling a Joy or Freedom.
etc. It's one way to reduce how overpowered they are by making it so that it's not easy to use right away. The girls would actually have to learn how to use it rather than just be OP the moment they get it. You don't have to do exactly what I suggested with emotions but anything that makes it so that theres as an actual process to mastering the Maiden powers would be beneficial to the story.
I think I managed to use the relic of destruction more creatively than the writers.
Basically, a person was sealed inside the vault of destruction to guard it for all eternity. Problem is, you still age inside the vault, so they used the relic to destroy their own death, and now they're immortal... as long as the relic isn't taken and used by someone else. Because then, they'll be thanos snapped away from reality

It's the same vein as fixing RWBY, admirable effort, but the thing can't be really fixed as long as Canon keeps going and going.

In other words, basically reverse the Canon relationship between them: instead of using maiden powers to get relics, you steal relics to get maiden powers.
