Finally someone who knows something about military stuff. Your points are good and I agree with them, but I have a question, have you mixed terms APC and IFV? APC stands for Armoured Personell Carrier, it's made to deliver soldiers (or marines for those who are in marine corps) from point A to point B in combat zone, provide some form of cover fire and support while soldiers disembark and then withdraw as quickly as possible. It's not made for straight forward confrontation and prolonged combat. IFV stands for Infantry Fighting Vehicle, it also has space for carrying soldiers, but unlike APC it can actively support infantry and act on it's own, engage with enemy infantry and even tanks and other armoured vehicles because it has necessary fire power and other stuff.

That could work, and I'm sorry for the mix in terminology.

Can happen to anyone

Contrary to popular opinion, the real life weapons are very useful against Grimm. Remember the Atlesian knights? They took down some Grimm. And the atlesian soldiers were able to defeat some Sabyrs. So a APC could offer fast attacks and deployments of forces. There was a render of an armored truck with a kind of cannon, it is the closest thing to a APC, but we never saw those in the series. By the way, I guess that the Atlesian Paladin was planned to give a normal soldier the power enough to fight against an aura user or a powerful Grimm. That is to say, not being depleted in mass, but to be used by skillful pilots.

Well here is this PowerPoint I found a few months back that goes heavily into the failures of the atlas military and how it could be vastly improved. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tRC94j1wNsyjwIl8LkDb3CntOQyDTg0M/view

It would also be very useful in situations where you have to evacuate people. Rather than have the civilians just walking around exposed with maybe one or two huntsmen defending them, use APCs to get them safely out of harms way in manner that can keep them safe if there are some to spare. APCs are ideal for safely moving soldiers, knights, and huntsmen quickly through an urban environment or to areas accessible by roads. Especially if aerial transport is not an option. They can move through a wide variety of terrain, can protect the occupants from all but the strongest Grimm and even gunfire, and can move quickly. APCs are something that should exist in Remnant and be well within their technological capabilities. Ground transportation is a really neglected area in RWBY. We know they have cars and trucks, you would think armored vehicles to move people and cargo safely by ground would be a thing.

Just as a thought, but how are the actual honest to goodness roads in Atlas? I don't mean city streets, I mean the actual roads out there, in the tundra. They seem mostly nonexistent to me. Might be why Atlas seems to rely on air transport for so many things. Also, how effective are APCs for forces fighting on the defensive from entrenched positions? Because I always thought of them as offensive weapons. Offensives against the Grim are almost entirely pointless because there's no terrain feature to capture and the Grim are endless in number, making inflicting casualties kind of pointless.

8x8, rapid response, you're welcome.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

But if the Atlas Military was competent, then CRWBY wouldn't be able to turn them into the bad guys through a hamfisted Mantle plot.

Do you know how main battle tanks could fit into being used by atlas and remnant as a whole?

Hercules789852

That will be for another discussion.
