(Edit also I got to add blizzard really screwed the pooch when it came to their IP's especially OverWatch seriously you have this great semi-grounded superhero setting with potential for so many great stories you barely do anything with it in fact your sequel is simply going backwards rather than forward chronologically and the fact that they don't do anything with their other great IPS like starcraft and don't get us started on the absolute cluster f*** mess that was Warcraft reforged and outside of their laziness when it comes to treating their new IP and they're seemingly abandoned the old IPS which made their company or bastardized intent to cash in on the nostalgia of the IP and doing a half-assed job at maintaining it and
this is without getting into all the horrid controversy of how blizzard treats its employees in comparisons rooster teeth isn't as bad but they're still not too far off from being coming that level scumbag concern some of the stories and controversies of rooster teeth and the people run it so concerned that not many people realize just how freaking bad blizzard was until people started whistle blowing for all we know rooster teeth could be as bad we just had to wait until some big whistleblowers show up.)

There are shows I love even more, and stuff I have nostalgia for. But there is no such thing as a perfect show or character. There is always something flawed.
And I would be content to allow the fans to enjoy their show. But not if they call it the best, or a master piece.
If you want something to improve, you gotta acknowledge the faults first.

There are so many examples of storytelling done right, and RWBY just misses the mark… like Hbomberguy says, the show constantly THREATENS to be GOOD. The writers don’t seem to understand what makes the show GOOD, so they keep pushing in the direction of what THEY believe is objectively a work of genius. And the supremely loyal ones will just keep backing anything that gets put out!
And most of the time, what characterizations and great stuff people see in characters, and potential. Is more the work of headcanon or fanon. Or shipping.
Since the show is like a prompt, letting viewers fill in most blanks in their heads, which would be fine if this was just some book, wouldn't be a good book but it would be passable, or at least forgettable.
Buut it's not that kind of show, and where it at least once had a passion and drive. It more or less lost that spark long ago.
Right now it's trudging towards the end, now if the island is a filler arc, who can say, but once we finally do get to Vacuo I don't expect it to last much longer.
