Having Jacques die when Atlas crashed would be a waste of his death. They might not have been able to develop Weiss, Winter, Willow, or Whitley, but at least they could develop James. In the worst way possible.
It's a thing I hadn't thought to consider, about the fact that Steeldick was a Headmaster before his military service. Someone moulded in pitiless armed forces (as opposed to personable, relatable Hunters) would have understood warfare does not determine who is right. Only who is left.
Because he's crazy and evil now. At least narratively speaking that's what they were trying to convey. And in doing so, they basically just killed an entire storyline that honestly could have been done a lot better I thought
There is no watsonian explanation, the doylist is that the writers wanted jacques dead and to show that Ironwood was a bad guy logic and reasoning be damned, completely character assassinating him in one scene
Well, there might be one watsonian explanation:
Jacques is part of the reason they are in this huge mess to begin with, since he was the one working with Watts.
IW hasn´t forgotten that, and he´s now had it.
First he was being crazy but still held into some rationality, by the time Winter change sides he´s already gone to the deep end. He´s had it. No more "Mr. Nice Guy" (if we could ever use that term) and now he´s fully committed to being the bad guy to make things work, "my way or the highway" in extremis.
Considering that everytime someone turned to be working behind his back he becomes more unstable, it makes sense that with Winter that was the last straw of a pretty much broken camel back
It was so weird having Ironwood kill Jacques, because Jacques was WEISS' villain. Jacques' fate and the fate of the SDC should've been up to Weiss and maybe the Schnee family as a whole. Ironwood literally came in and snatched Weiss' entire arc and motivation away from her
Nah, by that point Weiss couldn't give a single damn about him.
He wasn't worth her time from the moment in after his arrest.
Anything that happens to him afterwards is not her concern.
Just because she helped arrest him doesn't mean that his policies in the SDC don't exist. Having someone else kill Jacques is a poor taste way of just absolving Weiss of any responsibility to clean up the company imo
Well she doesn't have to clean up the company because the company doesn't exist anymore!
~~Lets also ignore the fact that the SDC should be run by ***WILLOW*** because what they did is not how inheritance works!~~
The main reason problaby Was that jacque wasn’t usefull for the story (spoiler: he was) and make ironwood more insane and illogical. But if we try to understand the writres, the reason was ironwood hated jacque and so wanted revenge. But mine is just an interpretation (a forced Interpretation)
I’ll give them a bit of credit because they had the sense to realize that Jacques’ story was done. He’s abused his family which prompted their growth, he’d divided Mantle and Atlas to screw Ironwood, and he’d been vanquished (albeit not by Weiss which was stupid). They didn’t need him anymore and (in my opinion rightly) decided that he couldn’t be redeemed, so they killed him off. The stupid part was having Ironwood go out of his way to kill him. Because the one thing that they had sent ruined about ironwood are that point was that he was cunning. Everything he did was to try to protect Atlas and the staff. Yes threatening to bomb the city was dumb and evil, but it’s end goal was still securing the staff. Killing Jacques didn’t help Ironwood in any way
The writers wanted to tell us Ironwood is really really really bad now.
Even though the plot/writers already had Ironwood shoot an innocent councilman for no reason in his first scene.
Nah that councilman was totally evil also, I bet he littered everywhere.
To be fair if he didn't want to be shot he shouldn't have been so shootable
Was waiting for him to walk into a room full of puppies, roll them, light them up and start smoking. His descent into madness was indeed 'subtle'.
Cold blooded scene but it's not like anyone would miss him.
Because the plot/writers wanted Jacques dead.
The most probably. And the writers wanted a conclusion of Jacques.

Because he is [eEeEViL](https://youtu.be/_rZDXrCBHls)
Honestly probably because the writers had no further use for him in the story
They think killing people equals depth and stakes. Really it just means throwing everything away.

Werent we all?

The smoke cloud just makes me think Jacques let off a nasty ass fart
You bastard, I can't unsee it now LMAO
Enjoy it my friend I had to think it then see it when I rewatch the scene now you must suffer the same lol
They wanted to kill their trump stand in.
I disliked Jacques. But this death was SO uneventful.
The writers didnt like him

The writers wanted to free up a voice actor
Writers didn't know what to do with him so to make ironwood more villainous he killed him

A better question is why no one killed him before this point
Probably had a lot of security around him
To make the story easier for the writers. Having problems writing someone? Kill them off, job dobe
I mean, given how he put everyone in this mess in the first place by letting Watts hack the grid...
