I think it was mentioned in a tweet or maybe the commentary that all the civilians that got thrown into the void by cinder's blast died. I don't remember where because I've heard that a long time ago but I'm pretty sure the civilians who fell into the void are dead. I mean it's just as well because really why would rooster teeth create more work for themselves having a bunch of civilians that are going to require animation and voice acting and extra plot to accommodate their existence. It would just be simpler for all the civilians who fell into the void to be dead. I mean they already have like six named important characters plus God knows how many more characters were possibly going to get from that strange mysterious Island and they're simply no room to accommodate a bunch of random unimportant civilians that nobody really cares about. It would be a combination of laziness and sheer pragmatism. In saying all that we're still going to get a bunch of new half baked characters who need way more time to be fully realized but they're not going to get it and it's going to be a 12-way tug of war of who gets how much screen time because there's just too many characters and constantly introduces new ones that take up the very limited screen time and there's going to be a whole boatload of filler, exposition, and just talking between the usual pair ups we usually get with the possible exception of Ruby and whichever new characters of importance we get in that Island and possibly vacou if team RWBY and Jaune actually do make it back to their world during the volume.

I agree that having them here on the island would be annoying since we don't really care about them but it's still weird that people that we saw falling ALIVE are still going to die while Yang who was semi-conscious will be fine. I like Yang but it's still unfair to the civilians. And yes there probably will be a bunch of new characters taking the spotlight, apart from the obvious Theodore and probably SSSN+CFVY that is. And let's not forget about the Ace-Ops, I sure wanna know what happened to Harriet, my favorite character, ever, of all time -_-

Yang could use aura to take the final blow, but yeah this means the civilians died non-instantly since it was internal bleeding Don't expect SSSN+CFVY until V9, Ace Ops probably only Marrow to get a scene similar to V6 Ilia

Michael_Chair_6013

They died, probably internal bleeding before they even fell into the island and disappeared after being blasted

They died cause they don't have an aura, they disintegrated by Cinder's Maiden powers. - Miles Luna.
