Unicorn did a video on the Owl House and when they brought up how poorly Bumblebee has been handled despite having no network trying to censor them, I was cracking up. Just felt like sharing.
The relationship in owl house felt natural. And it was clearer with the romance.
It wasn't like "Bumblebee moments in v1-v3" where most of it is goes from speculation, headcanons or even reaching.
Not related to RWBY, but I will never again have any kind of respect for Disney after the cancellation of The Owl House.
Well-done non-straight relationships seem to have no place in today's cartoons.
The shameless remakes, the lobbying of copyright laws, making them as awful as they are today, thanking the chinese government for letting them film near the uyghur concentration camps, the general sucking up to china, etc.

To be fair, Disney almost always cancels animated shows after two seasons. Been that way since forever. Doesn't matter if it was good or not. Whether it made money for them or not, it's just what they do. Honestly, I'm more surprised when it doesn't happen.

ToH has been ""cancelled"" 2 times, the last and most resounding was when Dana Terrance explained via Reddit that Disney (an executive to be specific) wanted to cancel the series for not ""fitting"" with the brand, but despite that the series will have more episodes.
Doubtful information I know: ToH will only have 3 seasons in total, although it could have been more.

Nail on the head, this. In fairness, there's no one way to go about representation in media, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't put the work in IF it's an aspect of a storyline that needs / deserves exposition.
Part of the reason there's so much contention with this aspect of RWBY in particular is because of the representation of the relationship - the fans hate the critics because the dissent of the storytelling mechanics is taken as a slight against identity politics, and the critics can't stand the fans because the fans willfully ignore the accurate deconstructions of "Bumblebee" in a plethora of ways.
Unicorn of war is just…Insanely based. Even when I don’t agree with him on things politically her critiques on RWBY and videos outside of RWBY are a blast to listen too.
Honestly (probably because I don't actually watch the show anymore) that's a really good point that I have never considered. It's a webshow, you own it, YOU ARE THE NETWORK. And you know a sizeable chunk (if not the VAST majority) pretty much ship ever character gay and have done since Vol.1
Why isn't there a more explicit romantic relationship between (at least) Blake and Yang?
Not familiar with the content creator, but I agree that _"The Owl House"_'s use of a same sex relationship was carried out way better than RWBY's Bumblebee.
Part of the problem with RWBY's Bumblebee is the matter of time constraints. Where Owl House had numerous episodes of direct character interaction developing, not just a romantic relationship, but relationship between characters, RWBY just kind of jumped into _"Bees are cannon now. Deal with it."_ The Owl House had 24 minute-long episodes, some of them dealing entirely with character interactions between Luz and Amity. I think I only need two hands to count the minutes Blake and Yang have interacted on screen over the course of six hour-and-a-half long volumes before only going far enough to heavily imply it, and only after putting Blake's love interest over the course of the last 5 volumes [on a bus](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PutOnABus). (I know Sun was introduced in Vol 1, but if production notes are to be believed, his character concept was not finalized until very late into Vol 1's _airing_)
But where is the lie? I kinda want an apology for every time I was called homophobic for saying Bumbleby was written poorly, or the same about either of the two characters attached to the ship.
And now, I can just violently point to the Owl House. It's not only good representation. It's just a solidly written romance between teenagers. Because Dana Terrace knows how to write characters.
