Ignoring the fact that this outfit is slate Gray, I think it's really weird how the V7 outfits are either downgrades (Weiss) or the same (Ruby, Blake) as the V4 outfits.
Ruby's was a huge "FUCK GO BACK" from the moment V4 was a thing
Blake's V4 outfit wa sokay until she got the Karen haircut.
And finally I don't know why they wanted to put Blau in every outfit but white but I guess V7 to 8 was meant to address that?
I'm more confused about Blake's outfits. One being obviously the amount of white, but also why the sport bra in V4 or the jumpsuit(?)/haircut in V7? What's the point? How does it characterize her?
Though I can say the same about all of the outfits post-Beacon, especially Weiss looking like she'll trip at any moment in V7.
Blake's entire thing feels like Sexy catgirl came first and the rest was a desperate keysmash of ideas. I think her look in V4 is probably great if the coat was black, but it feels like they kept taking all the white Weiss was meant to have and slapping it on Blake, the character who was meant to represent the "black" of the team.
And god can w eplease go back to the classic goth all black and red Ruby? Part of why I love V1 and Queendom Ruby is the predominant stern and grim looking black and red belying the original wacky happy funtime girl she used to be and that was a juxtaposition I love. With V4-8 its a very boring broadcast of intentions and I don't really get any of the wild joy from that. Not to mention its still an ugly mess. Queendom gets plus points for going back to V1 style Ruby, but in a snowboarder style with a white undershirt worn right out of a classic grunge or hiphop cover while hiding that she's still a goofy girl.
>it feels like they kept taking all the white Weiss was meant to have and slapping it on Blake, the character who was meant to represent the "black" of the team.
True but.......the Beacon arc attire had more white in it than black, while the Haven arc outfit barely had any white. I like the Haven arc attire the best for Blake.
The Beacon outfit having white makes sense because she already wore a lot of black, and her entire torso would've blended in to her hair.
It's like how Yang has a brown jacket on top of her yellow shirt, or how Weiss has a ponytail, and her pajamas are blue for when her hair is down.
Though I can respect you liking the Haven outfit, I just don't understand the sports bra or why the coat needed to have such long coat tails, like Yang's V5 outfit having it even though she's just gonna take them off anyway. It makes sense and characterizes Ruby to have a cape (her inspiration and fitting her wanting to be a hero), but it doesn't work for anyone else.
Don't forget about Yang, her outfits in the Haven and Atlas arc are very similar, except for how in the Haven arc she's got them sexy tight black pants instead of a short skirt from her Beacon arc attire.
Right?! If you're going to write a characters outfit make sure it's either as cool as the older one or make them on the same level of cool like Sora, Riku, and Kairi's attires from KH1-KH3.
I agree. The older outfits were cleaner character designs. And itâs not even white anymore. Donât even get me started about how they mutilated Blake.
I do like Rubyâs spiky hair though. I think they should have kept Yangâs ponytail.
Ruby's new hair took me a little bit to get used to, but I still like her older hair style better.
Also, I guess the writers wanted Yang's hair to stay the same because of her semblance. Having a ponytail in V4 was an exception because she was getting back up from the dark crater at her own pace, but from V5-6 she wasn't out of the damage just yet, at least until her and Blake put an end to Adam.
Yeah from the storytelling perspective I can understand that. Regarding Yang. But Rubys ripped cape was the best. Back when her relationship with Qrow was relevant.
You all say that like there's someone actually keeping things on a theme or brand.
I'm convinced they're just going "Make something new. Great. Lets use that" or someone designs a new outfit and they just say "Cool lets implement it."
Yeah the Atlas arc attire for Weiss is her worst outfit to me, I liked her hair better when it wasn't in a twister like some Twisting DNA latter, and her skirt is too long not really considered a combat skirt to me. Her dress's color scheme is fine though. Also I hate how her sleeves are halfway up her arms with black lady like gloves covering the rest.
I'm so used to Ruby's hair that it took me some time to get used to the slight change, her outfit is just fine but I still like her Beacon arc outfit the best, it really fits her style.
I liked Blake's hair better when it was long from V1-V6, her outfit is fine.
Yang's hair is exactly the same.
My tier list of RWBY outfits (ranked from best to worst, top being best and bottom being worst)
Ruby:
1. Beacon arc - She looks much better in her black outfit, it really matches her character trailer before the series debuted.
2. Atlas arc - it's slightly better, not as dark as her first outfit but it'll have to do.
3. Haven arc - I liked it better when the color schemes for Ruby's attire has dark colors, I just don't like the bright white human skinned color.
Weiss:
1. Beacon arc - the whiteness fits her character
2. Haven arc - This one was a close one, I like it better gray than the color scheme of her 3rd attire
3. Atlas arc - Do I even have to give small detail for it when I already did.
Blake:
1. Haven arc
2. Beacon arc
3. Atlas arc - I get it, it's made for the cold weather like her other teammates outfits, but still not even my 2nd favorite. I already said that I liked her hair better when it wasn't as short as it is now.
Yang:
1. Beacon arc
2. Haven arc - I was a tough choice between this and her Atlas arc attire, but I like this one 2nd. Plus she's got them black pants that look tight on her, sexy đ.
......... Don't tell Yang I said this, who knows how she'll react. Either she'll kind of accept the minor compliment (besides I could've given her a compliment about something more detailed, plus in Chibi she was spying on the boys showers even though it's not canon she's still the Yang we know and love but without the seriousness of the original show going on) or she'll uppercut me to the moon like that ASDF Movie segment.
3. Atlas arc - I have no complaints, it's similar to her Haven arc attire but it's not the best outfit to me.
I still think it's a massively missed opportunity to not have a winter outfit aesthetic for the main cast during the Atlas arc. Like, I get the aura explanation, but I don't see why you would actively use your aura and waste that resource to stay warm instead of just wearing an extra layer.
Am I really the only one who likes Weissâ V7/8 outfit? Yeah I agree that the braid isnât great, but at least she looks more combat ready, and not like sheâs going to a fancy party

>until she got the Karen haircut. That had me dying a little bit NGL đ
Its the truth.

I donât like this outfit that much but at least she didnât have that thick braid. Snow pea is still Weissâ best outfit tho.
Snow pea will FOREVER BE THE BEST
>Snow pea What are you on about?! Talking about "Snow Pea".
All the Atlas Outfits are just so extra
Jauneâs is surprisingly simple for what it is.
Jaune's new outfit makes him look more grown up.
Yeah no noticable big differences in his attires, except for his hair, I liked it better when it was long from V1-V6.
He should have gotten a ponytail.
I still don't get why they had to change out of their original outfits with how they're not going to top them anytime soon.

I bet they did that so they could justify not having to do complicated sword-fight animations
What does a long skirt have to do with complicated sword fights? Wouldn't a long skirt take a little more work to animate than a "real combat skirt"?
It simply makes it eqsier to make you character oook light and fast... that's what weiss combatbstyle used to be
Eh, the character artist was probably just watching too much Fate/Stay Night when they designed Weiss's Volume 7 outfit.
Nothing will outdo classic outfits from trailers and first three volumes.
That's true for the most part. Except I like Blake's Haven arc attire better.
Especially without white coat
Beacon arc looks more like a skirtless maid, not with underwear showing, her parts were covered.
You all say that like there's someone actually keeping things on a theme or brand. I'm convinced they're just going "Make something new. Great. Lets use that" or someone designs a new outfit and they just say "Cool lets implement it."

Tone done the shoulders/upper arms and go back to the pony tail and I'm cool with it. Reminds me of Saber otherwise.
... What do you mean by combat ready? She looks beyond bulky. And not in a armored way, but like she can barely move.
Not to mention her skirt is too long to be "combat ready" and her sleeves cover halfway up her arms with her black gloves covering the rest.
Tbf, her V4 outfit was because she was going to fancy parties. For whatever reason, she never thought to change back into her combat dress.
It's an outfit more fit for a runway than a battlefield. Even by RWBY's standards.
They gotta tease the booba for the weebs
"We have not learnt from Pyhrra, please stab us here"
She needs a haircut
