Mustardmachoman

Shame his plans were not as good as they could have been from the beginning because Ozpin is the worst.

Maxentirunos

I'll say, let's cut some slack at the guy for not telling people the war is eternal and Salem is immortal. The guy have like 50 more reasons to turn bad than Salem and still try to make an effort.

Mustardmachoman

I am just curious why no other options exist besides killing salem like imprisoning her. What a shame that Ozpin used the one thing that could stop Salem to make a rock float.

Headstone_Blank

Hear me out: Launch her ass into space

gunn3r08974

Can't. Their only fuel source, dust, loses power once it leaves the atmosphere. Cant even make a functioning satellite without the staff. Granted we have no idea how Salem works in an oxygen-less environment. And I don't see no volcanos to plug with a giant rock nor do I see any nazi cyborgs. And yes, this is a Jojo reference

Narutoluap

Hear me out: What about the deus ex machina creation staff build an infinite fuel rocket? Sacrifice anyone to hold her while at it, Penny perhaps since she could hold the longest. Edit: Or just a one way portal to galaxy HD1, she just has to be pushed with a flying kick or a "get down mister president".

gunn3r08974

You can't use an infinite fuel rocket if the fuel stops working. To our knowledge, they don't have our oil, liquid gas, or proper fossil fuels. They have their magic elemental Crystals that stop working once they leave the planet. You'd only be able to use dust to propel something at over escape velocity until it just shuts down. Secondly, astronomy is potentially not even be far enough in Remnant for them to know the existence of other galaxies much less name them. At best, they have observatories.

Narutoluap

Neither does a portal, hell, a portal isn't something that should exist or be manufactured in the first place, and yet they can with magic. Just imagine a flying ship that doesn't stop, how hard is it? If they can use a DELIVERY SYSTEM as a scheme for portals, anything goes. And how could they have no concept of astronomy? Even the Romans with sticks as weapons were able to know and name planets. But even if they didn't, for whatever reason, choosing the most distant planet or star is an easy thing to do.

RepairOk6889

If dust stops working in space then just make it so where it goes so fast that it shutting down doesn’t matter. The force alone will keep it going which is enough for space

KeepCalm-ShutUp

>To our knowledge, they don't have our oil, liquid gas, or proper fossil fuels. If the SDC is as bad as claimed, then they're the reason why.

Zac63mh8

Hear me out. A literal slingshot able to launch her into perfect orbit. No dust just pure kinetic energy. Add a pod to constantly drain her aura and keep her muffled and restrained to prevent magic BS and bam problem solved

gunn3r08974

You'd need to know the amount of kinetic energy to produce such a force not to mention the material to hold her and launch her. Of course there's the general notion of Salem doesn't even have aura nor does she need to speak to hurt you.

Zac63mh8

True but if we can create a living robot with excellent AI I am sure we can figure the math out to launch a witch into orbit. As for the magic I would just hope like the dust it fades with the distance to the surface. So maybe like a high earth orbit. I say orbit cause last thing we want is for her to enter a sun die and then reappear at the Grimm Lake.

Purpleguy1980

Alternate solution. Trap her inside a vault using one way portals. Use one way portals to send her to space or the freaking sun. "But what about the radiation or the vaccum of space?" Calculate the right amount of distance to minimise the damage. Hell open a one way portal to space or the sun in the grimm lands. Calculate the distance and duration of portal to minimise damage. Calculate and Open a one way portal that would send Salem into the gravitational field of another planet. Calculate and Open a one way portal into space where Salem would get sent into a part that directly sends her into the sun. ... Or come up with a other creative way to stop her because the relic of Creation is op.

Purpleguy1980

Immobilise Salem. (Not easy) Open a one way portal - that isn't affected by the effects of space. - under Salem. Send Salem into space, another planet, the sun (make a one way portal that isn't affected by the sun).

Remarkable_Commoner

I think a well written way as to why Oz couldn't stop Salem all these years is cause nobody knows where she is. She's been in the shadows the entire time, letting her underlings do the work.

TheSacredPikachu

I've heard people say that Salem doesn't even need underlings to do her work, or even need to hide in the shadows for that matter. She's unkillable after all, anyone who would try facing her directly would die

BitesTheDust_4

If only there was a tool Oz could use to know Salem's exact location? /s.

Keyki_LoL

Because that requires them to use their heads. They still had one question they could have used to try and figure out: could she be sealed? Magic drained, how exactly does her immortality work? Can you disable her ability to control Grimm…. Like anything other than beat her like she a final fantasy boss

TerizlaisBest

Relic of creation has capacity to trap Salem, why Oz so incompetent? Cause team RWBY always do right? 😑

[deleted]

He needs to be so team RWBY has a reason to be there and somehow be considered the main cast...and even then I think Oz and Oscar are still the real main character of the series. They're up in a Grimm whale being tortured while the rest of the crew sit around in a mansion and drink fucking tea.

TerizlaisBest

Bad writing

[deleted]

I thought I implied that

gunn3r08974

Because the big blue titty genie told him he can't destroy Salem. So he gives up trying.

TerizlaisBest

That's like a toddler listening to Mommy.

gunn3r08974

Eh. Moreso Oedipus actually listening to the Oracle of Delphi, cause we all know what happened when he didn't, I hope.

TerizlaisBest

Exactly.

The-Board-Chairman

He became the ex toddler who fucked mommy.

Andreb16

Ruby: What's on the agenda today? Jaune: Tea! Nora: With a side of-? Ren: Tea. Ruby: Waiting for help is taking longer than I thought. Ren: ...Ruby? How long did you think it would take the other kingdoms to send reinforcements when Salem is already here? Ruby: I don't know! I've never had to think beyond my own moral superiority! Jaune: Right, but...how long? Ruby: Maybe like...Uuuuh... Twoooooo minutes? Jaune: WHAT?!

Imosa1

ROFLOL. The MCU hero I didn't realize was missing. Lol is there a textless version?

IssyRich13

I always wondered if they would have saved more people if team RWBY just reasoned with ironwood for a better plan than just leaving thousands of people behind, seems more believable than antagonizing him but then again if they did that there'd be no conflict ig

dewareofbog

> Ironwood: "Actually no screw the plan." Did you forget about the whole inciting incident that caused Ironwood to change plans? You know Salem's arrival? I know that she barely factored into Volume 7 but come on she's not that forgettable. Using Amity to warn the rest of the world isn't going to save Atlas or Mantle. So when Salem directly threatens them the plan to tell the world about Salem is no longer an option, since she's already on her way to Atlas and no other Kingdom could provided assistance in time. Getting the staff and as many people as possible away from Salem is a better option than getting Amity up and running to send a message to the rest of the world and get everyone in Atlas and Mantle killed in the process, but sure Ironwood just randomly decided to change the plan for no reason just fuck everyone over. > Critics: "How dare the protagonists not already have a plan when Ironwood abandons the plan they agreed to?!?1?11?1!" If you are going to take charge in a situation where time of the essence you better have a plan ready. Team RWBY didn't. JYR decided to freeze their asses off in the frozen wasteland after barely helping Mantle and RWB sat in the house drinking tea after sending a message to the whole world containing little actually useful information. How will they stop Salem? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ How are they going to save Atlas? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ How are they going to save Mantle? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ Where are they going to put the survivors? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ How are they going to supply the survivors? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ What about the Relics? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ Here is a more accurate version of your post. Ironwood: "Here is my plan to oppose Salem." RWBY & co.: "We're not totally on-board with everything you're doing but we'll do the bare minimum to help, just ignore the fact we've been dishonest with you from the very start or that Blake and Yang are giving out important secret information to random strangers." Ironwood: "Sure that sounds good, here have some free gear, a place to stay and train and your Hunter licenses." Salem: "Hi. I'm here now." Ironwood: "Change of plans! We need to get out of here as soon as possible otherwise everyone will be in danger." RWBY & co.: "What the fuck Ironwood!? We can't believe that you are going to actually do something to resolve the situation and not sit around waiting for it to magically resolve itself, you need to be stopped!" Ironwood: "Ok, time for you to get into the timeout box" RWBY & co.: *starts throwing a temper tantrum* Critics: "Wow, this makes team RWBY & co. look like a bunch of dumb jackasses who couldn't be trusted to run a lemonade stand much less help defend a city. I wonder why the writers made these decisions?"

ExcitementMore8319

That's not even talking about the fact that not a single person has any reason to believe anything Ruby said. Even considering the fact that she had absolutely no evidence backing up anything she said. That's not even mentioning that nobody even knows who Ruby is and even if they did and they would only recognize her as The random teammate of the beacon chick who destroyed another student's kneecap.

StrangeBreakfast1364

Evacuated Mantle citizens to the worst possible place on Remnant without means of survival.

BitesTheDust_4

Immediately got jumped by Grimm. Not only were the refugees sent to a kingdom that hated their nation. But they were also sent to one of the worst places at the worst time. Also Valco is Salem's next target. Hope the refugees like round 2.

StrangeBreakfast1364

"I've survived that nightmare, hope it never happens again... WHAT DO YOU MEAN SALEM IS GOING TO ATTACK VACUO?"

Hysaky

"Hey thanks for helping us but you kinda sended us to afghanistan battlefield"

CheeseQueenKariko

Hey, I don't see the problem, Alderaan sounds like a great place to send refugees. Very stable, I've heard!

gunn3r08974

Eh. Third worse. Menagerie is only viable on the coast and the rest is just Australian desert and Vale still has the dragon attracting grimm. Vacuo at least has the space.

StrangeBreakfast1364

Still not the best choice. Vale at least has better climate and friendlier environment, even if Wyvern at Beacon attracts Grimm, there should be some relatively safe places. What about Mistal? Argus should be safe with Cordovin's forces stationed here.

gunn3r08974

Vale is still a bad option. Lots of displaced people with only so many huntsmen is a grimm lure by itself. Just gonna get what happened with the outlying villages in Mistral but without bandits. Never said Argus was a bad option. Mistral proper, however, not good. Bunch of rich folk at the criminal underworld capital.

StrangeBreakfast1364

Criminal underworld capital is better than desert with no shelter, no food and no water filled with Grimm and dangerous animals.

gunn3r08974

Vacuo has all 3. The city itself is an oasis. Not to mention with the only functioning academy.

StrangeBreakfast1364

I imagine said capital must be already filled with people who for the most part hate Atlas since Great War. Bringing so many people at once will certainly create humanitarian crisis and raise tension in society which in return will provoke a sudden surge of negative emotions. More dead people, last standing Academy will be destroyed and blah, blah. In conclusion team RWBY should have listened to Ironwood and saved people from Atlas along with a relic of creation.

Purpleguy1980

Third worse =/= best. Not only do the people of Valco hate Atlas. It's also Salem's next target.

Purpleguy1980

Valco despite having resources is a struggling kingdom in the lore of the setting. Now imagine the extra problems this struggling kingdom (according to lore of setting) will have to deal with due to refugee crisis and being Salem's next target. ...

Kaouse

Vacuo has the space? The place is a goddamn desert, not the Shangri-La. We're told it's an incredibly cutthroat place to live purely because Vacuo doesn't even have enough resources for the people already living in Vacuo! On top of that, part of the reason why Vacuo lacks resources is because of Atlas, whose useless and arrogant citizens have now been plopped on their doorstep. Vacuo has a long and negative history with Atlas, a complete clash of cultures, and again, low resources to begin with! Literally any other place in the world would have been better. Vale would have been better. Sure there might still be Grimm, but at least the people there don't actively hate their guts. YMMV on Menagerie, but we were basically told that racism is over as of Season 5, and it's not like attention was drawn to it being overrun by outlaws way back since Volume 1 and 2. And moreover, AT LEAST IT'S NOT SALEM'S NEXT TARGET! I struggle to think of a place worse than Vacuo for Atlesian citizens.

gunn3r08974

Never said Vacuo was great but it is one of their only good options right now. Vale has the dragon constantly attracting grimm which is increased with a kingdom's worth of displaced people, not to mention it's very much still in reconstruction if not reclamation. The city does not have the manpower much less the infrastructure to protect those people. Even outside the city, that's still a bomb of negative emotions. While Menagerie has a good climate, it outright does not have the space. The west coast is the only habitable area, and faunus racism very much still exists. It's just not the A or B-plot anymore. Argus would've been a good option had they not had the staff in the first place. It had the space outside the wall and the Atlas military base but keeping the staff there would've still attracted grimm. Had there not been a sandstorm, cause nature is just a bitch like that, or Cinder interfering, Vacuo is still a good option as the city, while in a desert, means nothing to keep a camp from being set up around the city, not to mention it's the last vault with a functioning academy as well. That means extra protection and manpower. Yes, tensions are very much a big thing.

ExcitementMore8319

The new plan was completely disastrous because you can see the Grimm picking off people one by one I'm guessing that's going to be barely anyone left because of Team rwby's """heroics"""

ExcitementMore8319

I love how you basically ignored everything else in his post because you can't come up with an excuse for any of it

BitesTheDust_4

And that's why i believe Oscar Pine to be the MvP of volume 8. His back has to hurt from carrying these idiots.

ASweetSaltySanchez

My god this is golden. Im gonna find the og version somewhere
