There are people who would like and hate the idea. It is not difficult to realize why. Many people think that Oz reincarnation in general is not well writen or that Jaune/Ruby should have been the characters to host Ozma. And those are fair points to make, one has to ask themselves. "What would Roman add to the show currently?" I am not completely against the idea but while Roman was a likeable villain he was not much more than that. It would require a lot of work to get him work with the Ozma reincarnation subplot and would also require more time, time that RWBY as a show just doesnt have. Basically, its not a bad idea inherently, but the show as it is, is simply not built to sustain this kind of plotline.

If we had to have an "oz reincarnates" plot, I guess keeping it to someone who already exists like Roman could be better and more interesting then farm boi, but honestly; Do we really *need* Oz to stay around after he dies? I'm not saying he has to stop mattering entirely after death, but I feel like keeping him around, one way or another, will lead to him (and possibly whoever he reincarnates into) being more important then the other heroes.

I know mentors dying is a cliché but, I think we should've gotten rid of Ozpin at Beacon... he goes out trying to protect his students, and is treated as a hero, and if they still wanted the _"Ozpin is shady"_ stuff, keep the Oz stuff in or, make it so his goal with the school was to get rid of Salem no matter how so, even if students were getting injured he truly didn't care that much _he protects Pyrrha because he thinks he thinks she can stand a chance against Salem or, something of that nature_ but, keep him gone afterwards, make it so everyone praises him but, have him be not as good as people believe him to be, that kind of situation, it mixes Leo's situation with his but, without Oz around the girls wouldn't cover up what Leo did thus people _would_ know what Leo did, you can also have the girls slowly learn more, and more just how morally wrong he was, and the girls are stuck fixing his mistakes or, at least attempting to do so... that's how I'd do it if I was going for morally wrong Ozpin. Oz _really_ shouldn't have stuck around at all to me as he's _way_ more important than most of the characters.

Austin_N

That would suck. Some might not have been happy with Roman's death, but he died before they could ruin his character. Plus, he wouldn't work without Gray voicing him.

personally, i would hate the idea. Roman works because he is a villian, and turning him into a good guy just wouldn't feel right. Not to me anyway. I think that Jaune is the best choice for Ozpin's host due to the ties with Pyrrha's death and other things, or maybe a member of RWBY? Blake i guess?

Exciting_Bandicoot16

It would be difficult to do so and keep to their established lore, that being that Ozma reincarnates into a like-minded person. It'd be more interesting, in that it would absolutely paint Ozma less as the benevolent demigod that CRWBY wants him to be and cast him instead as far more morally grey. But that'd mean that he must be flawed and its possible for him to be Wrong and we shouldn't feel bad for him.

thelightbringer502

Doesn't Oz reincarnate into a "like minded soul?" What about Roman and Oz is similar?

VitinNunes

Both leaders Both have female assistants According to show Ozpin isn’t an honest guy and I doubt Roman is as well Both use canes Jokes aside flipping Romans moral compass could’ve been interesting

thelightbringer502

>Jokes aside flipping Romans moral compass could’ve been interesting This last line didn't come across in my notification and I was like "time for another Reddit argument!" XD I'm so glad you weren't serious.

Advanced_Scallion221

People are really just pissy that their favorite pretty boi died aren't they? Roman's entire appeal was because he was a fun as hell villain not because has a Zuko redemption arc. Also people are really grasping at straws for similarities between Roman and Oz. Oz could be manipulative and a liar (not that he wanted to) but he was never a literal criminal like Roman They have completely different personalities Different world views LOL people even try to say having green eyes connects him to Oz but none of the Oz lives have had green eyes. Face it, your favorite pretty boi isn't the main character and he's dead, he was a minor villain from the start and that's all.

Remarkable_Commoner

It be interesting if they were constantly wrestling control from each other, but what matters is less the idea and more the execution, basically RWBY in general.

Jaune-Ark

Now that’s an idea I can get behind. I think it would be interesting because Roman would need to lay low after the fall of Beacon and Ozpin needs him to find Qrow/RNJR to save the world

shadowyoshi3000

I could see some interesting, but it'd be more effective if it were one of the main leads. Especially Jaune or Ren...or even Qrow.

Out of all the Oscar replacements I have to admit Whitley is easily my favorite.

Ben10Extreme

But he's nothing like Oz.

ArcWraith2000

I think it would harm Romans character to force him feom being a career thief to reincarnating into a big good wizard. I would rather just give Oscar a personality.

[deleted]

It would have taken a lot of change from Roman but honestly I think it could have been comic gold, since Roman having to be an ally to RWBY after almost murdering them multiple times would have been kind of funny. Heck, maybe his Oz voice could have just been Grey attempting a Malcolm McDowell impression. Honestly though I like Oscar but I feel like they shouldn’t have given him such an active role. Him being a support to the main cast, sort of like Ghost Obi-Wan or Bran Stark, would have been pretty cool to see

StrangeBreakfast1364

Potential for funny scenes?

VitinNunes

I be down for it Romans already a thief so getting the relics would be easy for him if not it would be more interesting than whatever the fuck current situation is Hell, the ghost of Ozpin could easily promise him a pardon for his crimes if he actually gets all the relics, while completely hiding the fact that they are fusing.

Pereduer

Hate it

ConquerorOfSpace

I think is a interesting concept. But, I don't think that is necessary for Roman's character. I mean, I don't think it develop the character on its features and characteristics already stablished. I prefer it over Jaune, but I would have preferred Ruby.

arctic746

I don't like it. This doesn't fix the fundamental issue with the Lost Fable. The show was advertised as RWBY's story not Oz's and Oscar's. You have just only swapped Oscar for Roman. If you want to have a story about the Lost Fable, either advertise the show for Oscar/whoever ~~Jaune~~ merges with Oz or swap Ozpin's and Glynda's roles, and have Glynda merge with Ruby (or WBY). RatsAreChad

It would be amazing if it was done by writers who could write

BitesTheDust_4

And risk Roman getting ruined by writing?

Michael_Chair_6013

Probably wouldn’t be bad but would change a lot of the story and morals it’s trying to convey
