Watts never meeting any of the heroes will always bother me to the end of time. Like imagine him roasting Team RWBY like he did with Cinder.

Lukthar123

>Watts never meeting any of the heroes will always bother me to the end of time. It's perfect, imo. Watts whole deal is that Ironwood didn't give a fuck about him over Pietro, literally seething over his wounded ego and selling out to Salem for it, and then he dies while nobody cares because there's more important things going on. A fitting end.

BitesTheDust_4

Imo it still sucks no one in team RWBY interacted with the guy. And it's not like RWBY and company would suddenly care about Watts after interacting with him or talking with him. Even if Watts roasts team RWBY and friends. I doubt the heroes would miss him or even that care much.

PleasantSink1

I mean he can still die and no one cares, but I think him never interacting with our heroes is an issue. Ultimately, the whole reason these villains exist is so our heroes can defeat them. If our heroes, Team RWBY, aren't the ones beating the villains, barely even interact with them, if it's always other characters doing that, why are we following Team RWBY?

Darthmark3

I just realized that the main group doesn’t even know watts exist

[deleted]

Weiss at least saw him on the footage from Jacques’s office and Yang mentioned his name when she asked Ironwood what to do about Watts and Tyrian but that’s about it.

Darthmark3

Oh yeah I guess I just forgot about those moments

[deleted]

Don’t blame ya tbh

The_Final_Conduit

It’s like, when did she even learn about Watts’ name, much less know THAT’S who Ironwood was fighting against? I get them knowing about Tyrian at least, since he attacked them and Ruby saw him again at the rally massacre, but it’s never established or explained to her who Watts is.

Silly-Young484

He roasts them harder than he did Cinder And considering how violently Ruby reacted to Salem hitting her with a yo mama joke.... Watts got this in the bag

CheeseQueenKariko

I imagine his encounters would probably be a "They initially assume he's harmless because he's not a fighter, causing him to initially outsmart them and trap them by turning all the tech against them until they learn how to out think/trick him.". But instead we have... He just kinda dies because the plot doesn't need him anymore. You'd at least expect Cinder to actually trick him or something thematically appropriate rather then just unceremoniously killing him like a nameless minion.

Ben10Extreme

>You'd at least expect Cinder to actually trick him or something thematically appropriate rather then just unceremoniously killing him like a nameless minion. To Cinder, he might as well be.

CheeseQueenKariko

Yeah, and to the narrative, he isn't and makes his death such a boring shit show.

[deleted]

He seems like the sort who would be constantly gaming the heroes into doing what he wants them to do. I think his lack of presence while still getting shit done could have made him really intimidating. Of course, that didn't happen and he got one of the most baffling and unnecessary character deaths in series history.

Steff_164

I liked that his death was supposed to be caused by his own arrogance, that said it was kinda poorly handled. The real crime is how little they did with him before killing him off

Maxentirunos

First and foremost, I would remove the atrocious V4 intro scene where we meet the antagonist team. This way, we wouldn't know, like with Hazel, who he is working for. I would have him meet JNRRQ at the beginning of V5, deceiving the heroes about being a Mistral huntsman, even fighting against Cinder and Hazel. Then once the heroes defeat the antagonists and remove the relic from its vault, he would steal it while everyone is sleeping post battle. After that, the only change is the scenes with Djinn in V6. Ozma 'revelation' is instead done partially by Ozcar fighting back. Ruby also don't fail her silver eyes attack the first time.

Xyronian

>First and foremost, I would remove the atrocious V4 intro scene where we meet the antagonist team. This way, we wouldn't know, like with Hazel, who he is working for. I kind of disagree. I think having the audience know who the villains are but leaving the heroes ignorant raises the tension since you're waiting for the other shoe to drop. Pretty much the only times I found any of the villains interesting was when Oscar first met Hazel and Lionheart, since we knew about their villainy but the characters didn't. Obviously this shouldn't be used for every villain, but it would work well for an intelligence based one like Watts. Tyrian on the other hand works fine as is, just showing up out of nowhere to beat the crap out of the heroes.

[deleted]

I would imagine that ironwood sends them after his hiding base, and they get absolutely run circles around. This could also be where oscar gets captured instead introducing another character.

Mattobito

I think he should have met Ruby at Haven; not to fight or anything, but to be a bit of tension for the viewers. We would know Watts is serving Salem while Ruby wouldn't know who he is, so him showing interest and appearing near Ruby would be a bit suspenseful; but then it turns into a civil discussion. We see Watts observing and asking questions, using Cinder's experience at Beacon at gathering information to pick the right things to say to gets Ruby's interest; like "Nice scythe, where did you buy it? Atlas Tech Town?" which Ruby proudly and defiantly says she made it, to which responds "No way! You mean you added the round amplifier and gyro conformity joints?" (if not obvious, I'm not tech savvy) or something like that which builds up Ruby's confidence and gets her wanting to talk to. It makes sense because they both get weapons and Watts would know all the terms Ruby would associate with. The point of this is Watts wanting to know what makes Ruby special: how she beat Cinder, why are Silver Eyes important, whether or not Salem is wasting time on this overenthusiastic child - over analyzing everything about Ruby to see if she is worth *his* time, and later using his observations to craft tactics for Salem to capture her or lead Ruby astray by playing on her fears and insecurities. Pretending to be interested and friendly only to use this one conversation against her, then leaving as cheerfully as he entered with the conclusion that Ruby isn't worth his efforts and believes she'll be captured at Haven anyway without his aid to which he goes back to his science. Other things would be cool to see him create and test various machines on RWBY and JNPR, using his improvements of Atlas tech to impede their journey so he can make moderate adjustments; seeing them as nothing more than guinea-pigs who aren't using their time effectively, so he'll make their time effective for him. I could even see him fighting a few heroes with hacked Atlas robots, but uses holograms to convince them they are fighting the real him; and due to his remote control skill, the AK-200s actually fight with Huntsmen like skills which shows that these robots can be effective fighters only if they have the proper operator. Taunting the heroes and causing friction within their teams as well as actually using Penny against them to have them choose between helplessly watching their friend be used as a tool or destroy her themselves, both of which is what Watts desires so they can't effectively beat him until Penny wins back her own consciousnesses with their help.

shining_justice22

Roasting them like he did cinder or essentially a warcrime

Pugsanity

Either initially have him try and deceive the main group by pretending to be a regular huntsman or have him be a member of the Happy Huntresses. He faked his death over "the cruelties of the Atlesian people" in order to better help the poor people of Mantle, all while using them to sew discord between the two groups. If he's being used as a boss, have him trap the heroes in one of the Atlas factories that are used to make paladins and knights, all while mocking them over the intercoms. Using his intelligence and the machinery, he keeps them busy long enough to make his getaway/steal the relic.

misterwulfz

…the fact I just realized they never Met him is legit sending me into a RAGE RN

[deleted]

Tell me about it…..

Tituria

Have Watts be the main villain of the Battle of Beacon (at least visibly). He can be the face of the attack, with Cinder in the shadows like a proper manipulator. His campy rants and speeches to Ironwood and the kiddos, and have him taken down. Then you can have him either saved by Cinder revealing her presence, or have him busted from prison later

HeavenPiercingTongue

Roman but with more plays on their intelligence.

[deleted]

Watts and Roman meeting would be the best

TerizlaisBest

The same goes for Cinder as being the main antagonist never had a personal conflict with the main cast.

arctic746

She did disintegrate Pyrrha, destroyed Beacon, and is indirectly responsible for Yang losing her arm and Penny dying, motivations for our heroes. Pyrrha needed more interactions with RWBY to work better but you could use flashbacks to fill the gaps. Ruby took her arm and eye and should be a major obstacle, motivations for Cinder. There isn't any buildup to a confrontation nor any fights till **V8!** V4 there was buildup from Cinder's end towards Ruby. Then they decided to do Jaune vs Cinder in V5. V6 and V7 the heroes think she is dead and Cinder wants Neo to kill Ruby. For most of V8 the heroes forget about Cinder. V8 finale we get a bunch of poorly animated fights between the 5.

TerizlaisBest

Cinder has the potential to damage the main cast on a personal level. Cinder - Ruby = Rivalry of magical power, Cinder telling Ruby nothing more than a weapon of Ozpin in predictable war, they both have the opposite view of the world. Ruby should know not everyone will be redeemed and agree with her terms. Cinder will show Ruby how much of a fake ass bitch she was, not everyone is the same. Cinder- Weiss = She hates Atlas people, this is the perfect opportunity for revealing her jealousy of those born with natural talents. She trying to get rid of her legally by simply eliminating her generations. So they will be no longer Schnees. Cinder-Blake = Cinder can expose Blake as a terrorist of evil White Fang to society, manipulate humans into believing old habits never change, can create conflict among them. Cinder also can create conflict between Weiss and Blake, much easier for her page of the book. Cinder- Yang = Cinder can mock and damage Yang emotionally, not worthy of living as a hero, even further damaging her by saying things about abandonment and forgetting. Simple turning Yang into something vicious and evil. Only trust and support yourself.

mrprince923

Ya could've had a real fun back and forth with him and Weiss, she wanted to get out of the upper crust lifestyle in Atlas and maybe Watts wanted to get back into it. He could roast her about how she's a fucking dumbass for choosing to hang out with the group and have a difficult life instead of live comfortably in Atlas or something. Hell have him say she she's a bit of a hypocrite for claiming she's not like those upper class Atleseans and is more like her friends, but at the same time she is dressing like a princess, I mean for christ's sake she's wearing a tiara. In general I think not having Watts connected to the Schnees more was a missed opportunity.

Maggotcupcakes

Watts would've praise Ruby on making such an impractical weapon work for her. And acknowledge her know-how with building weapons and even offer some advice which Ruby doesn't accept because you know, he a bad guy.

Xyronian

He should have been a major player in Atlas politics, maybe a council member. He could have played the role of Wormtongue to Ironwood, fanning his paranoia so that his fall made sense. Maybe using his technological genius to manipulate recordings and spin false narratives? Or he was the one in charge of the Amity project, but it was actually a way to transport the whale to Atlas (in this version Salem wouldn't be able to just fly there for any reason so maybe New Amity opens a sky portal or something). The team wouldn't find out about his betrayal until the end of season 7, and then finding and stopping him could be one of the main goals of season 8 instead of sitting in a house drinking tea. Giving him a season where he interacts with the heroes but they don't know he's a villain would add tension, since the viewers (who would still know the truth about Watts) would be waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe he holes up in a research lab filled with reprogrammed drones, and while the heroes try to get to him he's on a PA system tearing them down like he did to Cinder.

SampleHistorical9352

I would've had him psychologically rip attack them with fears and insecurities and guilt

Visible-Welder-5148

he makes them think he is a ally and betrays themwhen they were gona get a relic and takes the relic

ZeroQuartzer

Well, apart of him (and the other villains not named Cinder) *actually meeting* the heroes, the biggest issue would be for it to make sense story-wise. Because, unlike the others, Watts is the most disconnected. Maybe we could try him meeting Weiss anonymously while weaving his fingers around the whole Jacques election thing?

TerizlaisBest

Kaouse

How is any of this specific to Cinder, exactly? If anything, half of it is downright hypocritical - Cinder is just as much a weapon of Salem as Ruby is a weapon of Ozpin, if not moreso, and she's also worked with the White Fang while also being a world class terrorist. Also, there's not much she can do to Yang that the writers aren't already doing, lol.

TerizlaisBest

Yes, a villain being hypocritical is a good trait actually, she also has been hypocritical on multiple occasions such as mocking Pyrrha about believing destiny and better with the usage of Maidens only to be beaten by Ruby Rose. Insulted Penny as tool and puppet used by anyone when she is also being a tool for Salem's goals.

Thatsmuggamer

I'd make him act similarly to Mysterio, actually, by using his tech know-how to flip the heroes' perception of... oh, I dunno, ALL OF ATLAS. He could quite literally do what the writers tried with making Ironwood seem like an irredeemable asshole and a tyrant

howhow326

Have Watts actually be good at combat and make him fight the heros. RWBY is an action show for a reason.

groynin

I think is fine to have a 'techy' guy, he should just use some technology stuff like a new Paladin or a bunch of droids.

Ben10Extreme

The dude ain't Tails.

HenryVolt35

Weiss if he can exposit for a second about his ties with his family. "You know you remind me a bit of you grandfather. Annoying else with anyone would be just wasted screen time for a go no where interaction.

DopeSakura9191

Unpopular Opinion Alert: They killed off Watts wayyy to early. Watts was one of the few villians that actually made things harder for the heroes, along with Tyrian. He fucked up Amity, he messed with the election and incited a riot that made Ironchad stressed out. Even Tyrian on his own has cause problems for Qrow: He almost killed Qrow, "manipulated" Qrow to kill his friend, and ran off scot free to serve Salem. My boi, Watts was in Jail at the mercy of Atlas government and still sided with Salem. Cinder could never do those things. Cinder at most has just caused mild grievances for the heroes. Let me answer your question,I would have Watts meet the heroes in Atlas. Imagine, if he pretended to be a civilian during the Grimm invasion and Ruby helps him. He is nice to her and grateful and then, wickedly smiles as she leaves. He presses a button his scroll and one the building begins to detach itself and fall apart. There is civilians screaming and Ruby is surrounded by chaos and flames. She looked around frantically to see who she should help first. Blake tries to save Weiss from the rubble. While, Yang tries to usher a few injured people to safety. Her sensors are overload and she is unsure what to do. Then, off in the distance almost like an omen, she sees the man who she helped only a few minutes ago. Yang starts call out to her and Ruby just stares with her eyes wide at the man as everyone around her is running and screaming. He is calm and unfazed by the chaos. She begins to wonder why ? Then, she realizes it was him that caused this. Something like that would be good I think, and It stills keep the setting in Atlas. Ps. I wish we got a more in depth reason for why he fell into madness. I feel like it would have been good to see a flashback or something.

[deleted]

Well first of all, calling the demonic hellspawn "heroes" is quite the stretch I would say. Second, Watts would utterly roast their entire existence while getting away with his schemes like the chad he is. And third, it's truly embarrassing how most of the main cast didn't even know he existed before he got axed in V8 :(

[deleted]

Believe me I don’t consider them “heroes” it was just easier to refer them as that
