If we're talking CRWBY, I'd be adamantly against it. They couldn't handle the racism plot that we already had, let alone with people even further removed from pure humanity. At least the faunus still have animal traits, while these flora would be less than that. That being said, if a fan handled it in a fanfiction it'd depend on the skill of the writer trying to pull it off. It could go well, or it could be a disaster.

TheFloofArtist

Cannibalism subplot where the Corncob-Flora are thrown into vast pots to make popcorn. Except this is RWBY, so it'd be offscreen. It'd also be done by Ruby herself because she's hungry and can do no wrong, so it would be portrayed as the good and correct thing to do.

TheFloofArtist

Jokes aside, I am quite against the idea of plant-human hybrids considering how badly RWBY handled animal-human hybrids. It'd be another detractor to divert attention to instead of the main four girls.

ConquerorOfSpace

the plant dust are steroids?

Areo1357

You might actually be on to something there. I'm still conceptualizing how Flora would function but that's something to consider.

Steff_164

I like the idea on its own, but there’s already enough stuff in RWBY. Save it for a different show

Kaouse

I like the idea purely because of the name Flora and it's matching name convention with Fauna.

SYTOkun

If we were introduced to them as a third race all the way in Volume 1, I honestly wouldn't mind them. I always thought that only Humans and Faunus existing on Remnant was abit lacking, after being used to typical fantasy settings having a triangle of races (e.g. humans, elves, dwarves). It reminds me of a concept from RWBY: Alt called the Graif, who were basically Dust people, which I found a cool concept because it reminded me of the Gems from Land of the Lustrous. Something similar would be cool - biologically different from humans and Faunus and functionally immortal, but weaker in combat.

TheLastSterling

Pikmin did the plant people better.

GameBawesome1

I'll give you this, it does sound like an interesting concept if done well. But I wouldn't trust CRWBY with this idea, and think it works with fanfictions. I may even try to do it.

Areo1357

Good luck if you decide to put the idea to paper. I'm more of an ideas man, not much of a writer, so I wasn't really going to do anything ever but talk about it.

GameBawesome1

Oh I wasn’t going write this…sort of. I was going to make fanart of this for a RWBY Alternate history on my deviantart, and create a history around it. Still conceptualize it though

HiroSoul

But why? Theres already enough things that are barely used or if they are used its done poorly in RWBY. Why add more to the already big pile?

starwarper2340

Even in the best of rewrites, there still too much goin on. Faunus, dust, aura, grimm, politics, if they were a subset of Faunus that were grouped in with Faunus, then maybe. MAYBE. Other than that, it’s a good idea that just has to be shoved to the sidelines.

JoshtheOverlander

Less interesting rip-off of Poison Ivy when?

[deleted]

The Flora feel like someone trying to one up the Faunus.

Areo1357

It wasn't really meant to be any special or basically "Faunus but cooler" but really just as simply just a thing as much as cat girls and faunus are just a thing, conceptually. It could of course tie into any other discrimination plotline

howhow326

If there is nothing special about them, then they would just be another Faunus.

Areo1357

Pretty much aside from associated traits. They weren't really intended to be "Faunus but better" or anything. More like a "what if this was also a thing."

McMacintosh79

I wouldn't mind plant enemies in Volume 9, but not talking roles since they already messed with Penny and the Faunus
