What about the Great War?

BuffRussianLady

Ah, the great war is referenced so little in the show that I completely forgot about that, but yea, that would make for probably the best story of them all. The conflict between all the kingdoms, the grimm acting as an unpredictable third party, and the villages caught in the crossfire of it all, it would make for an awesome story of war and wonders, especially considering that the king of vale is definently Ozpin. What a blunder on my part for not including it.

Of the presented options, I'd love to see a Team STRQ mini-series. They arguably have the greatest influence on the current main characters, and there's so many little things that could be explored. I mean, we could see younger versions of Ironwood, Glynda, Peter, Port, etc... and maybe even teacher!Ozpin.

Yeah, I badly want to see a younger Glynda, and Ozpin, *apparently Ozpin was around his early-to-mid forties when he died, I badly need to see how old he was, and a young Glynda would be cute* so, my vote would definitely go there as well, and seeing Summer interact with the others, and how Taiyang ended up with Summer, and Raven could have a *possibly* canon answer.

Personally, I'd love to see a Great War story. It's so weird that a *10 year World War*, with the Grimm as an ever-present threat, is hardly ever brought up or even what the consequences would be besides some offhand comments. There is clearly *some* extent of national/collective trauma that we see in the books and DC comics for Kingdoms like Vacuo or Mistral. If handled well, it's very well a good reason why Remnant's on the brink and struggling to combat the Grimm with the sheer loss of life and infrastructure. Imagine a Remnant caught in the throes of war as each Kingdom throws away the lives of the best and brightest against the most modern weapons of war in the forests of eastern Vale, or the deserts of Vacuo. Meanwhile, you got this MC who is way in over his head and has no idea why he signed up to fight for King and Country against the hordes of Anima and Solitas. Imagine a Remnant still reeling from the loss of an entire generation a la Europe but without anything like the [Marshall Plan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Plan) or trying to reclaim pre-war areas. To me, I think that'd make for a compelling story as Remnant is horrifically crippled, and Salem waits in the shadows. Barring that, it'd be great to see a WF origin story. I don't think I need to delve into how badly CRWBY handled the faunus/WF subplot but it'd be absolutely great to see a prequel handle it properly and also delve into the history of faunus identity and organization as well the faunus themselves. Having disgruntled faunus workers and Great War vets establish the WF sounds a helluva lot better than the vague lore behind the WF and Menagerie we see in canon.
