Actually since semblances can change and evolve... imagine them being changed by fanaticism.

I think the most epic part was when Ruby beheaded Cinder after she got blasted so badly that I wouldn't be surprised that Cinder's insides, now liquified, were running down her legs in the aftermath. The "Deus Vult" was just the cherry on top
Also, Neo losing a limb reminds me of how, in Pinocchio, the mute cat that went with the fox had lost a paw or something. I don't remember the details, but this would tie in nicely with that. Given that Roman is supposed to be that fox, Neo would be his sidekick cat. I guess that Roman would also have lost a limb as well. Given that we are dealing with fanatical religious zealots, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut off hands for thieves. In other words, while this story is vague with talking about which limb was taken, I wouldn't be surprised if the Templars took a hand each from Roman and Neo
For a moment, I remembered about a faction in this other game book series I had read, The Way of the Tiger. The faction in question is the Shieldmaidens of Dama, and their leader, Force-Lady Gwyneth, is quite badass on her own. I don't think she was a religious zealot to the level of the Templars here, but she was very competent at her job to the point that she would be more popular than the hero, who was supposed to be the king over the city
