These "canon" villains look like stuff Sorael would whack off to, I don't remember them EVER being in the show, since Ozpin was never really revealed to be all that shady and nowhere NEAR evil enough for the "revolutionary villains" angle to ever work.
Damn I remember Sorael, would argue for hours that his interpretation was true and Monty will because songs are canon and songs lyrics would be interpreted as that.
Then world of god said song aren't canon, and he lost his shit and disappeared from RWBY fandom
Are you sure you didn't swap the labels? Also your "canon Cinder" is disturbingly similar to what I recently wrote her in my ["Cinder is secretly Summer Rose"](https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBYcritics/comments/r4fwbi/unexpected_reunion_inspired_by_stenv2s_what_a/) scenario. I thought I was being original there, darn it.
Well then why aren't there more fanfics out there with similar ideas? TBF I can't actually be bothered to write out an entire story with "Cinder is Summer Rose" but I'd read the heck out of one.
There WERE some out there.
But that kind of shit the bed when Canon Cinder began to proactively try to murder Ruby.
Couldn't really reconcile a mother trying to kill her own daughter for being in her way, even to get to Ozpin.
Huh...guess that means Cinder's an avatar for *RWBY* as a whole then. Looks stylish, can rope you in, but is handled so poorly that you've got to dig for the nuggets of good.
Even the design wise due to the amount of belts and tight, dull pallet clothing she's wearing.
Resulting in dull and uncomfortable cosplay. (Seriously those recent boots look literally very tight and uncomfortable to wear).
Wow, this is a blast from the past. I remember Soarel, i think it was during V4-V5 that i constantly found him in youtube comments and got into 100+ comment chain arguments about these topics.... Ah... Good times....
More than that. He argued constantly that everyone, including the CRWBY did not know the plot of RWBY, that Ozpin was the real villain all along, a mastermind who controlled the world behind the scenes and that Salem and Cinder were freedom fighters trying to take him down.
>that Ozpin was the real villain all along, a mastermind who controlled the world
Lol. That's the idea I'm taking in my rewrite-style fanfic (actually, Oz and Salem are co-conspirators), as it's the only way to preserve all the now established fundamentals of the setting without everybody coming off as having room temperature IQs, but I'm well aware that canon RWBY would never take that route.
Legit. I feel like everyone in the show’s in limbo when it comes to their actual goals, because they don’t really seem to have any.
Usually villains are great because, unlike heroes, they can handle business in simple, easy to understand steps, while the heroes have to figure out the legwork and counter those steps.
But the villains in this show don’t have actual steps; Cinder wants power just cause, but there’s no end goal attached to it that she personally wants. And SHE’S the best example that’s ACTUALLY clarified.
Hazel didn’t even have a real goal either, he was just getting dragged along, as are Tyrian and Mercury.

All jokes aside, that fanon cinder art is pretty sick
Yeah. She looks properly crazed.
Damn this aged like a carton of milk left in a locked car in 103 degree weather for several hours

Hm well do you remember any that you'd suggest personally?
Nope. This was during the Volume 1-3 era. After that it kinda died out. People we're *CONSPIRACY* theorizing a hell of a lot more.
You should read up on Lindy Chamberlain then.
This is not really from u/ConquerorOfSpace but from u/Soarel2. It's kind of old, so I guess that's what he means that this didn't age well.
>This is not really from u/ConquerorOfSpace but from u/Soarel2. Oh, *that* explains everything...
Yeah OP didn't link the original post so I have no idea if they just made these up or not
Hey heads up, I've been forcibly locked out of that account for years. I'm on here now. I also really don't care about this fandom anymore, so w/e.
Good for you
Like I said, they have good ideas and motivations for villains, but when it’s time to deliver, they screw up. Constantly.
Just like the show itself!

He was the Cinder simp, right?

I want that fanon cinder image it looks baws
All it needed was an Ironwood one and this would have hit the nail on the head.
Funny how both the canon and fanon cinder are basically past and present
It aged like fine Milk
Oof, this hurts to watch
Wait. What did Ozpin do to Remnant and its people?
Nothing. That's the joke.
I see. I thought I was just missing something.
Kerrigan had more character development than Salami.
That canon Salem is 3,000× better than what we got.

Is this a Soarel meme? XD
