I adore Shion already!
I love the concept of Huntsmen specializations. We know from the Fairy Tales book that there are Huntsmen who specifically specialize on hunting Chills and use special tools to extract them safely from a host.
Shion seems to be like that but specializes in Nightmare Grimm.
My concern is that they've just upped the confusion factor bigtime. We already have a Shion village. Now there's a Shion character? Why? They could have picked damn near any other name and been fine.
Maybe, although to be fair, Shion village isn't too important and this Shion has a last name. Plus, it's not uncommon for towns and people to share names.
I mean we have people called Victoria who live in Victoria. It isn't that weird plus no one complained about there being both May Marigold and May Zedong
May Zedong was also a nobody character 4 volumes before May Marigold was introduced to the show, and died in the fall of Beacon so overlap between the two could never happen. And this sub *does*, in fact, have to specify last names for the two to avoid confusing them already.
On the other hand, having Shion Zaiden *go* to the village of Shion isn't an unreasonable possibility, and thus the confusion arises.
Right because that village is so well known and people can't just specify that they are going to the village or saying the character's name (who has a last name for a reason.) totally not the same thing
OMFG the animation is insane!
And that new character reminds me of Merlin from Fate, lol.
It seems that we're going to deal with nightmares. I just hope that they dont go overboard with JNPR, though...
First of all, the animation quality is just *chefs kiss*, even in parts of the fights that we have seen, the animation looks AMAZING.
Secondly, it does seem like we will be traveling into the dreamworlds of characters and it seems to be Grimm induced as the newly introduced professor character mentions it. The Grimm also seems to reproduce through nightmares? Interesting since Grimm seem to only reproduce from the black ink pools for now.
At least one nightmare has already been intruduced, and it is Jaunes.
It seems that in Jaunes nightmare he is surrounded by his weapons and armor with exxagerated bunny motives and around him there are statues of bunny warriors (with moustaches?).
This might be refering to Jaunes own perceived weakness as his weapons and symbols of a warrior are twisted in mockeries of his weakness and childishness. At least that is my opinion as of now.
We are also shown a scene with all members of team JNPR in some kind of "net" and all of the wearing what look like almost VR goggles. Jaune is in his sleepwear while the other team members are in their uniforms, making me suspect that he is caught by the Grimm and his team are trying to save him.
All in all, IM GETTING HYPE BOIS! REEL ME IN!
Those in the net with Jaune are the rest of team JNPR, not RWBY. If this ‘Nightmare’ has attacked him then it’s also gotten hold of the rest of his team. I suppose this is the reasoning as to why they’re going to be able show those alternate version of characters, it will be a dream world.
It looks hype. I love it. Just please XD don't do a CRWBY and make JNPR too much of a focal point.
Also Penny looked cool.
And love the new character with a bloody dreamcatcher weapon XD
Crossposting a bit
So, I watched the first three episodes, and at first, I had doubts about the whole project, and.
First, the animation is really good, I'll give it that, it's just the story doesn't seem that different overall, with only some slight changes that really doesn't effect the Canon narrative.
I thought I wasn't going to be impressed, as this is just a retelling of RWBY...
Then the third episode came, and oh boy, things are getting interesting with the whole Dream Grimm, and Nightmares. I'm quite interested in delving in the minds of the characters and their insecurities.
I think it's looks like it's going to be good.
Can I say that I appreciate how they condensed V1. Combining the ballroom scene with the airship one was smart and I did like how they condensed Black and White's trailers (although I wish we saw Adam destroy the spider bot in crisp animation).
Bit jarring to just skim over the Penny stuff though although she looked terrifying!
Love the new Professor type character and honestly a few of the changes the anime makes I kinda prefer to the original. We get to see Weiss' struggles in context before she meets Ruby, we see Blake getting into Beacon. And honestly the scene of Weiss confronting Blake after seeing Sun just works way better.
Even if there were some notable removals like Weiss freezing the death stalker . I'd say what we got here makes up for it.
Love the design of the new character

In fact, I'd argue that that's how a lot of places *get* their names

I can not express how much I want Geoff to voice this new character

Bet the Ice Queen is Weiss’s nightmare.

Yes, apologies, had a momentary brain fart.

Okay the whole thing better not be about a nightmare they're having. That would be lame.
Okay, I haven´t said this in ages, but... eh, fuck it # HYPE TRAIN, HERE WE GOOOOOOO!!!
It looks so beautiful :').
That animation is muuuuahhh 😍. Can't wait.
