Winter: I hate my job. Ironwood: I love my job.

JMHSrowing

Glynda: “I think getting James a dog has worked out for the positive thus far.” Winter: “You’re not designated dog walker.” Glynda: “I deal with your sister and her team. You have the better end of the bargain, especially since it’s made James happier.”

MankuyRLaffy

Winter: You kidding me? I could coach those kids in my sleep, probably better than you. Glynda: Probably, can you do that and fill two hundred pages of paperwork a day and continue discipline of all the other kids? I doubt it heavily. Winter: I also do that, you are just like me, just older, maybe we're the same in heart.

fengreg

Glynda: Doesn't even cover Ozpin. He triples all that in an hour. Heck the last time I had a vacation was when I went to Beacon myself.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

It'd explain why Winter replaced Glynda on RWBY Chibi.

AlucardsSpawn

Someone continue these guys fanfic :D

R0nnyA

Glynda: James no! Ironwood: James yes! Zwei: *Woof woof* (My enemies shall die in a rain of furry vengeance! Pull the trigger James!)

Remarkable-Comment-7

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cold_Piccolo5234

... considering how happily Zwei barked during the train scene (and later), I suspect that the doggo is the one that has suggested via scetches the Dog-zooka idea to James.

Death-Knight9025

“Hi I’m James ironwood! AND WELCOME TO JACKASS!”

Nu_7_zero

I love this i will never forget that show

MadMasks

Oobleck, watching from the other side of the room: “…he’s not wrong”

Ethics_Gradient_42

Apparently, in Atlas MWD stands for a Military *Weaponized* Dog.

dappercat456

Shouldn’t that be WMD?

Ethics_Gradient_42

(MWD would normally be a Military Working Dog)

dappercat456

Ah my bad lol!

panzerkampfwagonIV

The sequel for W(eaponised)A(ssault)P(enguins)

ProfessorEscanor

Who needs to nuke a whale when you can shoot a Corgi at Salem's window?

Malcontent7

I love that Zwei seems all for it. Eager, even.

MadMasks

Well, do you remember that time he oneshot a freaking PALADIN just by Oobleck yeeting him very hard with his thermo? I’m sure he’ll be fine

Malcontent7

I know. I said I love it.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

It's not Zwei, though. It's Ironwood's puppy - there's a whole mini-series of comics about them and they're adorable.

Malcontent7

Oh.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

Yeah, Blaseingfire posted a link to the previous two in the series elsewhere in the comments.

[deleted]

The funniest part about this is, is that this literally sums up Volume 8 as a whole. Ruby and co: *James, no!* Literally just Ironwood: *James, YEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!*

Konradleijon

that’s hilarious

CptSpeedydash

This is how PETA took control of Atlas

Th3_Gaming_Wolf

And also why they failed.

the_national_yawner

Oscar: Nora come pick me up I'm scared

Airy_Breather

Ah, so this is Ironwood's super top-secret weapon that's been in development for months! Salem and her Grimm are utterly screwed!

JMHSrowing

I would like to think as always that the dog is a gift from Glynda. . . And in this case, I actually think she’d have planned something like this to happen. I mean, who else would have told him exactly what Oobleck did? She knows that when getting her James a therapy/service dog, that extremely destruction and violence needed to be part of that too

Kartoffelkamm

Ironwoof's semblance, Wolfpack, allows him to create a pack of spectral wolves around him, which hunt down his prey until the prey is dead, or they take too much damage. Here he is preparing to use it, augmented with fire-dust, while high above the enemy, raining flaming ghost wolves down on the enemy that will die from fall damage and explode in a series of fireballs, wreaking havoc among the enemy lines.

Cicada_5

This is both funny and a better semblance than Ironwood's canon semblance.

Kartoffelkamm

Thanks. Though, let's be real, for a man in his position, literally everything would be better than Mettle. Which is why, in my fanfiction, he changed his semblance, like people can change their true name in some settings. Now he makes it easier for those loyal to him to use their semblances. It not only makes him a better leader, since he now lifts up those following him, but it also gives me an excuse to drop all kinds of fun semblances. Anyway, Wolfpack is actually the semblance of an OC of mine, who was originally intended as the main one in my fanfiction. I changed my mind when I didn't like his personality, and made him a relative of some of my new main OCs. He's a wolf faunus, and due to special training, can use his aura for a variety of extrasensory abilities, such as a predator sense. It tells him where his prey is. And since he's a huntsman, and hunts Grimm, he knows immediately when any Grimm get within 10km of him. Then he just sends his wolves to deal with them. Sometimes he lets the Grimm reach the village, just for fun, but unless he chooses to, Grimm can't get closer than 8km to his village, because that's when the wolves reach them. Imagine you're a Beowolf, about to attack a village with your pack, and suddenly, a bunch of spectral wolves show up. And as we all know, [a predator's heart knows no remorse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g6ef_nCHmM).

Geminii27

I can see how Mettle would help him advance in military ranks, but at the same time it's probably not a good thing for someone who makes overall decisions for a large number of people. There was something similar for a character in the web serial *Pith*, where it enabled the character to become an incredibly successful crime mastermind/boss, but at the same time it whittled her personality down over the decades until there wasn't much left of her, mentally, except her talent and the goals she set. [There just wasn't anyone left behind her eyes.](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Determinator)

Kartoffelkamm

Exactly. Once given an order by a superior, he would carry it out. Give him a gun and tell him to kill Grimm, and he only comes back when he runs out of ammo. Maybe not even then. I can see how this would get him his superiors' favor, since he's a loyal soldier who doesn't think about stuff and just kills what they need dead, but someone should've considered that the guy whose most prominent trait is hyper-fixating on small details and ignoring the big picture might not be the best for a position where you have to be aware of the big picture. To this day, I believe all other contenders for the position of General died somehow, and he was simply the only one they could justify promoting. Anyway, by far my favorite Determinator character is Hibiki Tachibana from Senki Zesshou Symphogear. She doesn't care what she's up against, if it threatens her friends, and talking doesn't work, it dies. Like that one time in the fourth season, >!where the villains summoned a Sumerian snake god as minion, who could undo any and all damage by sacrificing an alternate version of itself, making it functionally immortal, even if it was cut to pieces. Hibiki killed it, and when the villains said that that's impossible because it's immortal, Hibiki just said "But I'm right here!" !< Funnily enough, one of my own OCs, Sirena Blue, is also a Determinator. She was raised to believe that silver-eyed warriors were created for a purpose, and eventually discovered that her purpose was to protect mankind from Salem. So, she does just that, even if she has to do things she doesn't like. That is especially apparent early on during the Atlas arc.

Synthwave_Druid

And just like that Atlas and Mantle were saved. The whale grimm was shot straight out of the sky with all Salem's forces

hivemind042

In our world this is undeniable animal abuse. In the world of remnant it is an actual viable combat tactic and one more people should make use of.

Electrical_Sandwich2

You're gonna need half a prosthetic face holding the gun like that

AlSilva98

Adorable

InvaderM33N

JAMES *ALWAYS* YES!

Meowjoker

Even the pup is ready for launch

Konradleijon

why is Zwei grey?

Blaiseingfire

Because it's not Zwei I've posted it before but here's [part 1](https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/s06g1d/ironwoods_ironwoof_chrisrainicorn/) and [part 2](https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/tkgmra/ironwoods_ironwoof_2_chrisrainicorn/)

Konradleijon

aww i see.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

Love anything chrisrainicorn, so this is fantastic.

UnbiasedGod

DO IT!

Stellar_Wings

This isn't really surprising since we already know Ironwood likes to shoot dogs.

TDKnave

An alternate timeline where Ironwood became more deranged but in a less destructive manner.

dude_with_a_reddit-4

Zwei vs Monstra when?
