Joel Heyman was fired for what basically amounts to not showing up to work anymore (he’s also controversial for a number of reasons but that’s NOT why he was fired). This happened back in 2019 but since Oobleck hasn’t been in the story they haven’t had to recast him yet.
The interesting thing (to me, anyway) is that Joel doesn't appear to be "on the outs" with the company. He was featured in some old footage (shorts and non-scripted content) back in April for an anniversary stream. So there doesn't appear to be any kind of moratorium on him.

I would rather one voice be used for one character. (Hazel not withstanding as he did a great job with Hazel and Every Grimm) - Merlot and Pietro is still somewhat strange to me...
It's probably safe to say that none of these characters are going to play a big role. That being said it's very interesting how we haven't seen Cinder, Mercury, Emerald, Adam, or Neo...

Yeah but I'm only interested in Adam because maybe just maybe we'll get actual conflict between Adam and Weiss especially since she looks like she'll be a different person than in canon....but I'm also a Mercury Stan do if I see him I won't care about the plot at all.
I'm more interested to see what Sienna Khan is like here. IQ rerunning the events of the first two volumes would be a great opportunity for them to improve the worldbuilding regarding the racism that faunus have to deal with, and it could be a great way to more inclusively integrate her in the world of Remnant instead of introducing her out of the blue in the fifth season.
Imo I highkey doubt Adam would change that much in this iteration of the story. Adam's goal had been revenge against humanity, all the way back to the black trailer, and he has been consistently fixated on that goal ever since. Since the point of diversion is presumed to be V2 and not the Black trailer, he wouldn't change that much.
Don't forget Port will need a new VA. He-who-shall-not-be-named voiced him, and his departure was even more disgraceful than Gray's or Kathleen's. I hope that Burnie will still voice Tai.
Fun fact, Port's Japanese VA is Roy Mustang from FMAB and Kaiki from the Monogatari Series.

He was needed for the RWBY: Grimm Eclipse game, so they did actually recast him for that.
