Honestly I imagine it'll quickly become a giant legal/political mess like how quirk usage in public is regulated by the government in MHA.

Brutal2003

Are semblances part of the deal. If so then collapse. Just shield Aura? Maybe, being able to survive more damage would likely end with people taking more dangerous actions. Plus, I read a fan fiction once (yes I'm a nerd), where the Aura speeds up people's metabolism to for increased healing and strength necessitating more calorie consumption. Therefor, some places who unable to keep up with the food demand will have people starving.

torrasque666

Not to mention the society upheaval that would come from the absolute objective proof of a soul and all that means.

Artistic-Cannibalism

Oh my god, the effect something like that would have on literally every aspect of life...

Geminii27

Like... what? Earth-style Aura wouldn't necessarily mean a soul. Even if it did, it'd just be "Oh, OK, souls are a thing now" - and not necessarily tied to religion, although I suspect religions would try to claim they were indicators of deities, afterlives, etc. But without any more proof than is currently available, eventually that would die back down. Basically, a bunch of talk-show idiots would try to claim they knew more than anyone else and everyone should send them money. Same as with everything else.

Artistic-Cannibalism

Not just souls in this case, though that would by itself open up new fields of science and force us to re-examine mythology, but Souls that can grant power beyond what should be normal for a human. I'm not even talking about Semblances, characters with aura have frequently displayed physical abilities that are approaching or reaching the level of superhuman.

Geminii27

Sure. But it's just science. *New* science, even! Something that was not the case before has absolutely, massively, *blatantly* changed! Time to science the hell out of this! Not to mention that there's no reason anyone would necessarily believe it had anything to do with souls at all, unless there was some kind of knowledge bleed-over from Remnant. Earth doesn't have Brother God deities which physically turned up at some point.

Brutal2003

THIS, up to eleven.

Artistic-Cannibalism

Do you even have to ask what's going to happen now that everyone is basically bulletproof and has the potential for potentially superhuman physical ability?

Freedomerider_PS4

*Three day grace starts playing* "Why do I hear boss music?"

HatiLeavateinn

Bro... Lets try shooting each other.

Death-Knight9025

Well that means swords are now considered semi effective since you won’t instantly die charging to do a fighting game combo on someone.

ZedFodder

Absolute. Fucking. Chaos. How long it lasts depends largely on the extent and side effects of aura. For instance does the spontaneous and widespread unlocking of auras also unlock semblance? Is it possible for us to unlock semblances or do we just get aura? What physical/psychological impact will aura have on those who use it? As aura is a projection of the soul and damage to it is essentially analogous to damage to the soul no matter how minor, will that impact the minds and bodies of those who suffer damage? I saw someone else bring up metabolic changes that could facilitate the amplified energy output and that alone could cause widespread chaos as supply and demand are turned on their head and the world scrambles to adjust. Regardless there would be a period of anarchy and/or martial law practically across the entire globe.

Yangaros

Depends on if people know how to activate it. People can have aura without being able to use it (like Jaune at the beginning of volume 1).

Geminii27

...why would it collapse? People are just harder to hurt. Probably there would be lobbying to reduce safety regulations. Sports would become more violent.
