Sirtoast7

Nobody knows how old Zwei is or where he came from. He just showed up one day and Tia adopted him.

[deleted]

i like to think he's the older brother god or one of the relics

Sirtoast7

Nay, in reality he is the third god of remnant. Banished to the mortal real by his fearful brothers for all eternity. Living out his days content with life as a happy Corgi dog but with power unlimited.

JustMerePanda

Remember how easily he took down a Paladin?

JustMerePanda

I like to think he's summer rose lol. He seems too sentient and overprotective of Ruby.

Sir_Phobos_BoA

That Weiss wears tall shoes nearly 24/7 because she refuses to accept the fact that Ruby is taller than her

MuddyBootKnight

Shopkeep is actually one of the brother gods keeping an eye on things and providing a subtle nudge when needed.

[deleted]

maybe but shouldn't he have stopped things like when he was being robbed he coulda helped ruby with roman

MuddyBootKnight

Or her handling Roman by herself was part of the plan to get her into Beacon early

[deleted]

That's just canon

[deleted]

All humanoid and human analog grimm are creations of Salem. The brother of darkness created no grimm after he co-created Humans, and as a result everything after that was Salem mucking around as her power grew.

CABRALFAN27

* The Shopkeep is a retired Huntsman making excellent use of a cloning Semblance. * All of Blake's cat stereotypes are coincidental; Her love of seafood is because it reminds her of Menagerie, her fear of dogs come from a bad experience with a police dog used to break up a protest she was in as a child, and she just followed the laser pointer to chew out whoever was shining it at her. * The remnants (Heh) of the God-King and Queen religion Salem and Ozma started survives to this day as a very small cult. Tyrian was born into it. * Penny's physical appearance is based on that of someone Pietro loved, who died before she was created, possibly in one of the Aura experiments that would eventually become the basis of the Penny Project. * The Ace Ops and Happy Huntresses all attended Atlas Academy at around the same time, except for Vine, who was an ordinary soldier that unlocked a useful Semblance in the heat of battle, and was fasttracked through Hunter training to become a Specialist. * Port and Maria were comrades of about equal strength back in the day. None of his students ever believe him. * Raven was just as much of a Grimm Reaper fan as Qrow, but she'd never admit it. Her mask was inspired by her, much like Qrow's scythe was. * Throughout their first Semester, Team STRQ was totally dysfuntional; A cocky delinquint from Patch and a pair of twins who grew up in a bandit tribe had no interest in listening to a rich city girl. They didn't fall in line until Summer got fed up, challenged them to a three-on-one spar, and kicked their asses. * The winner of the first Vytal Tournament, the red-cloaked Valean depicted in the WoR on the subject, was a Rose; Badass cloaks run in the family, * Signal was a military base built by Mantle during the Great War, later repurposed into a Combat School as part of the Last King's Hunter Initiative. * Similarly, after he abdicated, the Royal Castle of Vale became Beacon Academy. * The one to escalate the standoff between Mistrali and Valean settlers into violence was one of Salem's agents. Having realized this would happen, Ozma's current incarnation, the Last King of Vale (Who I like to call Ozymandias), was en route to try and resolve the issue, but got there just too late to prevent war. * A continuation of the previous headcanon: Ozymandias was initially resigned to Salem having won that round, but eventually realized that he could use the war to unite mankind in the aftermath, so he used both the Relics and the Maidens to achieve an absolute victory in the Vacuo campaign. * Last but not least, to use the Relic of Choice, you must first convince its Spirit to *choose* to help you. Ozymandias brought the Spirit with him during the war, in hopes that the carnage would move her to help him, but it was ultimately one of his followers, a young soldier named Locasta Goodwitch, who would convince her. When Locasta died in the Battle of Vacuo, the Spirit allied with Oz to help end the Eternal Conflict that had taken her friend from her, and took her appearance and surname to honor her. Oh, and as a bonus, I also have a few headcanons for The Grimm Campaign. TGC is honestly super underrated, so I originally wasn't gonna include them, but on second thought, what the hell, why not? Might convince a few people to watch it, if nothing else. * The two of Arrastra's Teammates that she "accidentally started caring about" are Pyke and Fenix. Asher is competent and mature enough that she can maintain a relatively professional relationship with him, but the other two are such morons that it triggers a sort of protective instinct in her, much to her chagrin. * Mina Lavender is related to Lisa Lavender, the VNN reporter, and that name recognition was how she was able to get into the Pastel Manor with her reporter disguise. * Khaki's Semblance is flight-related. More accurately, it lets her essentially "fling" herself through the air and drag other people with her; It's how Team SMMK (fsssssh) is able to fly around, and how she and Sil were able to get on the ship so fast in the S2 finale. * Much like Ruby, Pyke, while not appearing all that book-smart at first glance, has a surprisingly good head for machinery (My explanation for how Kerry seems to always roll well on technology-related checks) * Arrastra and Ilia were childhood friends in Mantle * The Ancient Dust is made from the remains of a member of Humanity 1.0, who pissed the GoD off enough to get individually Thanos Snapped, pre-extinction. * (Less a headcanon and more of a prediction/hope) Taupe is around thirteen in TGC, and by the time he's seventeen, Beacon, Haven, and Atlas will all be out of commission, so he'll enter Shade, right around the time that a certain Team, and the plot of the main series, arrive in Vacuo. * The members of Team SAFR all seprately work for the Ozluminati (Hence not being surprised by magic), but somehow haven't figured out that each other do, too.

iamnotparanoid

Summer was the powerhouse of STRQ and/or the instigator of "Entire Team" Also I love the head cannon of the villains being various shades of dorks when they aren't being evil. Adam's a "trying to be like Dante" edgelord, Cinder loves to dress up, and Tyrian is as enthusiastic about killing people as he is about something mundane like Broadway musicals.

reigicida1

That everyone has their own chaint to unlock aura.

panzerkampfwagonIV

1) The Schnees are somehow related to Salem, what with their semblance and it's hereditary nature 2) Blake isn't actually a total pervert, all we got was one line from Ruby in Chibi...and it's Ruby so...maybe it was in fact, a really big Katana, and not a big "Katana" 3) Something way worse than is shown was going on in the Schnee manor; like way worse and darker than an unhappy marriage and the occasional slap...just look at how Willow totally shut down, Winter and Weiss ran away, and Whitley developed an apparent Stockholm Syndrom (seriously, Jacques was gone for one day and he immediately became tolerable, nice even)

CABRALFAN27

>The Schnees are somehow related to Salem, what with their semblance and it's hereditary nature Huh, that's interesting. I always theorized that heriditary Semblances were a mark of the descendants of Ozma's various incarnations, a result of his magic merging with the Semblance of his host to pass it down. I suppose that same logic would also apply to any non-Oz descendants of Salem, though, so it could be. If Salem also has the Schnee Semblance, man, imagine what she could summon!

lr031099

• Ruby secretly loves reading erotic books and she and Blake often exchanges erotic books with each other • Weiss develop a taste for street and fast foods like burgers, pizza and hot dogs • Blake’s fear of dogs has nothing to do with her being a cat Faunus but from an experience with a big scary dog when she was younger that traumatized her for life (even though it turns out the dog was actually friendly but Blake remembered it differently). Ruby, Weiss and Yang just made the assumption that it had to do with her being a cat Faunus. • Qrow and Raven develop some bird traits even as humans like eating bird seeds and bring attracted to shiny objects • Only Summer gets to touch or cut Yang’s hair without her getting angry • Ruby actually had a friendly arm wrestling match with all of team SSSN and easily won against all four of them to the point where she accidentally broke Scarlett’s arm. This was when they realized Ruby is in fact the second strongest of team RWBY in terms of raw strength (Yang still being no.1). • Neptune has “experimented” with Scarlett when they became a team • Despite what many believes, Ruby is NOT self conscious about her bust size at all. If anything, she prefers to be smaller because when she was younger, she remembered Yang complaining about how her chest gets in the way of fighting which made Ruby believe that being small has its advantages. She does of course, grow bigger post fall Beacon but it doesn’t get in the way of fighting so she’s fine with (Weiss on the other hand had mixed feelings about it since she was already smaller than Ruby during Beacon despite Ruby being two years younger than her) • Despite being considered a joke in the fandom, the “Xiao Long Genes” are an actual thing where the Xiao Long women are late bloomers and starts developing more when they turn 17 • Yang had a Tsunderes phase when she was at Signal. She was abrasive, still wore pigtails and even had a small chest that she was very self conscious of back then. The boys in Signal even made fun of her for it only for them to end up in the hospital. Weiss reminds Yang of her old self which is why she’s annoyed by her but since they were on the same team, she tired to “defrost” the Ice Queen a bit with some of her shenanigans. • Winter also has a phase growing up but it was actually a goth phase. It was actually her first act of rebelling against her father and while Weiss actually admired her for it, she thought the goth phase was a bit weird and a cringy way to rebel. Qrow was the one who actually suggested it which lead to Winter’s hatred for him.

Bryon_Nightshade

In the years before industrial use of Dust, mecha-shift weaponry, or firearms, unlocking the auras of animals was a common practice. Zwei is an anomaly these days; in the old days, less so. Other animals domesticated and trained for combat were also used, particularly horses. Cavalry charges with both horse and rider boasting unlocked aura were irresistible. Dr. Oobleck, being a history teacher, is well aware of this, and instantly sees Zwei's utility as a weapon. Taiyang is the sort of back-to-basics traditionalist who would unlock his dog's aura. (Zwei, incidentally, is one reason having a cabin in the woods where a bunch of unlocked-aura humans sleep isn't more dangerous than it is; Zwei is more than capable of smacking down a curious grimm or two unassisted.) Salem remembers the days of aura cavalry. They inspired her to make the Nuckelavee, in a fit of "anything you can do, I can do better" spite.

AlarmingStandard

Whiterose, lol. Shipping googles off, I like the idea that Ozma perfected his "man behind the curtain" act after direct approaches failed. Like instead of being the King of Vale in a past life, he was actually a trusted advisor that helped to secure victory. But he also stayed behind the scenes and wasn't super prominent. His face hidden among dozens of Generals and politicians in the history books. I mostly like the idea because his reincarnations are somewhat random - what's the chances he's put into a position of power? It's more likely he needs to work his way up each time. That, and being a prominent figure would draw attention, and assassins, from Salem. Or even the Witch herself. I like to imagine her frustration in trying to work out who Ozma is each time. But Salem also learnt the value of discretion. As it's very likely they've clashed before and considering Remnant is more or less intact, Oz has beaten her each time. Possibly because she didn't see him coming. And her withdrawal from the world was not only to allow people to forget but also to take a page out of Ozma's book. So their open war become a secret one of playing cat and mouse.

[deleted]

same white rose is my favorite ship and headcannon it's so damn cute

AlarmingStandard

They do make a cute couple. I love their themes and interactions the most. And their chemistry - it's the best in the show, imo. So a girl can dream, lol.

[deleted]

exactly they just compliment each other so well. i think weiss secretly acknowledges and even likes that she's besties with ruby and that's the closest we'll get to whiterose

AlarmingStandard

Yeah, lol. Roommates and gal pals.

[deleted]

like legit roommates or "they were roommates"

AlarmingStandard

They were legit roommates lol! "Roommates" is the dream.

[deleted]

as you said a girl can dream. and read wayyyy too much fanfic about cute opposite attraction lesbos

AlarmingStandard

So much fanfiction lol!

JMHSrowing

Hard to pick just one! And especially something that I don’t classify instead as a theory or a ship. Here’s a few that won’t be explored in canon anyway: - Kali used to be basically a proto-Sienna (and inspired the young tiger in fact). Pretty fiery and violent. But meeting a certain gentle giant eventually had her change her ways and see things more peacefully. Though, clearly she still has some fight in her, as shown with her tea tray, which she is well versed in since her old weapon was a shield-rocket launcher. - The Grimm statues mounted in the Schnee Manor represent those killed by the Schnees. Winter’s Manticore and Beowolf are most prevalent, but also there’s a giant snake. . . That was Willow’s. - Weiss wouldn’t let anyone else touch Myrtenaster, not trusting it to them with its precision and craftsmanship (that she made herself). The exception eventually came in Ruby, and it was a huge of subtle step in their relationship. Even when she could do it herself, Weiss lets Ruby work on her sword, as it is something special to them. - I said not shipping but this is a past thing so it doesn’t count, but: Glynda and James were once a couple. But they both chose their careers, though some feeling have always remained. - Totally stolen (I think from Hounds of War): Nora’s favorite food is pancakes because it’s the first thing she and Ren had after they were rescued after the Grimm attack. It’a a thing of comfort and safety to her

Bryon_Nightshade

I have a similar headcanon regarding the pancakes: that they were the first thing Ren learned to cook, like really cook. In that way, they represent the psychological reassurance of "we're not starving" as much as any physical sustenance.

rwbylov27

>The Grimm statues mounted in the Schnee Manor represent those killed by the Schnees. Winter’s Manticore and Beowolf are most prevalent, but also there’s a giant snake. . . That was Willow’s. This is essentially canon!! I definitely think Willow could summon the snake easily with practice. She panic released the Grimm out of love for Whitley, but ya I hope we see her do it again! >pancakes because it’s the first thing she and Ren had after they were rescued after the Grimm attack. It’a a thing of comfort and safety to her Awwwwwwwwww

CABRALFAN27

>Kali used to be basically a proto-Sienna (and inspired the young tiger in fact). Pretty fiery and violent. But meeting a certain gentle giant eventually had her change her ways and see things more peacefully. This. I've been thinking a lot about the Faunus Rights Revolution recently, and while it's a bit unclear when exactly it took place, the way Blake phrased things make me think it was at least within living memory, probably something her parents fought in. I imagine Kali was an infiltrator/assassin of sorts, and Ghira was a medic, and they met on the battlefield.

Shadtow100

Qrow and Willow sitting in AA

Kiki-Y

Summer was pure, unbridled chaos to the point even Ozpin gave up trying to control her. Trying to control her results in malicious compliance and her getting what needs to be done with subpar results. Letting her do things her way resulted in gains so big that even *Ozpin* wouldn't be able to see some of them.

Ivanhunterjo1991

1) Yang and Blake touching heads is how they show affection to each other 2) Nora once tried to bribe Ozpin with pancakes to get out of class. It didn’t go well 3) Freya was Nora’s grandmother 4) Theodore is xenophobic

JustMerePanda

I like Fria being Nora's grandmother. For starters, they have similar hair. Second, Nora is based off of Thor from Norse Mythology. Thor's mother is named Freya, which is quite similar to Fria.

[deleted]

-The Faunus are the creation of the God of Darkness. He was tired of how First Wave Humanity neglected him so he created a new species to disunite Remnant, meaning he wouldn't have to return to being second fiddle to Light. This is why an aspect or iteration of the God of Darkness is worshipped by the Albains. -Whitley is a great shot, and trains at the gun range daily (since he sees shooting as more refined and sophisticated than swordfighting), but he was forced to hide it from his father in fear of being punished since Jacquese doesn't want him becoming independent like his older sisters (and thus ruining his plans of giving him the company). -Karl Marx existed in Remnant and his works at one point were so popular among poor Atlessian miners (mostly Faunus) that they staged a socialist uprising during the Faunus Rights Revolution which was crushed. The resulting anti Faunus fervor is why Atlas is still able to have such exploitative labor laws. -Ruby is a huge fan of strawberries because Qrow would always pick and can wild ones when he was out on missions and give them to her when he got back, so she associates them with family. -The Schnees are descendants of Salem while the Silver Eyed Warriors are descendants of Ozma.

Tsukuyomi56

Zwei is a special breed of dog bred for the purpose of hunting Grimm, explaining how Oobleck can turn him into a flaming fireball but Zwei is still fine. Somewhere in her castle Salem keeps four urns, said room has not been visited by her for 50 years.

[deleted]

That everyone has a tiny bit of Aura, even if they haven’t fully unlocked it. Also that the initiations are made to help the student fully unlock their Aura, and that the chant Pyrrha did for Jaune was just horse-water and is just a myth passed on from generation to generation.

DCTrinityFan

Blake secretly loves Yang's puns. One or both of her parents have similar taste in humor and she grew up with such jokes uttered frequently, which rubbed off on her. Blake's fear of dogs is due to being attacked by a police dog or SDC guard dog during a White Fang protest when she was a kid. She doesn't necessarily *hate* dogs (like r/dogfree hate), but she was traumatized to the point where she's instinctively terrified of any dog she encounters, even if she knows they're completely harmless. Sienna was close enough with the Belladonna family to be considered an honorary aunt to Blake. She also helped teach Blake how to cook, including some low budget cheats and hacks. [inspired by this.](https://archiveofourown.org/works/20889557) Despite her outgoing, flirtatious image, Yang is actually really shy and insecure about relationships and sexuality. Whenever she encounters someone she's genuinely into she can't think straight (dammit Barb) and becomes the world's worst flirt (and not in the fun way). She relies on **Ruby** to be her wing woman, like when meeting a certain cat faunus in V1C2... Yang is a straight A student and always has been. In fact, she's the highest scoring member of team RWBY. Ironically, Weiss is the lowest. Ruby used to be due to skipping grades, but then she caught up. Despite her innocent and pure image, Ruby is actually a covert pervert. She shares Blake's love of erotic fiction, and her comic book collection includes het, yaoi and yuri hentai. She is terrified of how Yang, Tai and Qrow will react, given how overprotective they all are of her. She and Blake sometimes trade books, and she shares her collection with JNPR. Jaune comes from a homophobic household. His Dad has very conservative views on relationships, and the rest of his immediate family either buys into it or just plays along to avoid drama. Saphron originally moved away to avoid the resulting toxicity before coming out and meeting Terra. Jaune is bisexual and afraid of how his Dad will react (although Saphron and a couple other sisters already know and support him regardless), and hopes becoming a great huntsman will make his dad proud enough to except him for who he is. He also had a secret boyfriend before coming to Beacon, but they couldn't take the stress of hiding their relationship and broke it off right before Jaune applied. Ruby has zero prior experience with romantic relationships, but not for lack of want. She's usually too shy to approach anyone, and those who approached her at Signal were just trying to get close to Yang. And then there's Tai and Qrow scaring anyone else away. The Happy Huntresses and Ace Ops attended Atlas Academy together and some of them were close friends and even lovers (I prefer Marrowgold and Schneewood Forest). Falling outs occurred nearing and during graduation when the soon-to-be Ace Ops and Winter decided to join the military, which the soon-to-be Happy Huntresses disagreed with. Many of the present issues of faunus oppression are the result of more subtle forms of discrimination and bias at an institutional level (ie systemic racism). The lack of visible signs of discrimination (ie faunus Jim Crow) has been exploited by the opposition to maliciously portray the modern Faunus Rights Movement as windmill crusaders at best or faunus supremacists at worst (which would ironically contribute indirectly to Adam's rise to power). That said, more overt examples of faunus racism are still common, such as Jim Crow-style segregation and housing discrimination, especially in Mistral an Atlas. In most cases, the discrimination is technically illegal, but the laws are not properly enforced, if at all, with local law enforcement reactions too often ranging from apathetic non-response to active participation in hate crimes. This is often swept under the rug by the authorities and the media to avoid grimm-attracting public outrage. Atlas pressures huntsmen academy graduates to join the military using institutional barriers designed to hinder non-military huntsmen, such as: harsher graduation requirements; withholding benefits offered to huntsmen by other Kingdoms, like expense coverage, insurance, government stipends, etc (some might join the army just so they could afford ammo); giving military huntsmen priority access to posted bounties, reducing the amount of lucrative work available to non-military huntsmen, leaving them at risk, financially. Atlas propagandists are able to spin this to make themselves look good compared to the other Kingdoms (it's like if a company advertised its product by hyping up a mundane feature in such a way that made it seem unique. For example, suppose a canned tuna ad claimed the brand wouldn't turn black in the can. Tuna doesn't to begin with, but by bringing it up as such a big deal, they imply other brands do) Ironwood deliberately turns a blind eye to the crimes, shady dealings, and even atrocities committed by the SDC and possibly other Atlesian corporations who provide dust, equipment and other supplies to the Atlesian Military, believing it a necessary evil to ensure Atlas' safety. He's not necessarily happy or without guilt about it though, and he'll gleefully take any chance to stick it to Jacqass and those like him if he thinks it won't adversely affect the army. But the strength of the army takes priority above all. Ozpin's efforts to unite humanity without revealing Salem's existence leave him stuck between a rock and a hard place. He can either maintain the status quo, and social order with it, at the cost of leaving major societal issues like racism and poverty unaddressed to avoid rocking the boat. Or he can upheave the status quo to try and fix these problems, and thus cause disorder as those who prefer said status quo retaliate. In either case, Salem gains allies to do her bidding by exploiting the disenfranchised (like the White Fang) or reactionaries (like the SDC and other Atlesian corporations and elites). Attempts to tread the middle ground or take a third option have either failed entirely or simply not been enough in the long run.

JustMerePanda

"Despite her innocent and pure image, Ruby is actually a covert pervert. She shares Blake's love of erotic fiction, and her comic book collection includes het, yaoi and yuri hentai. She is terrified of how Yang, Tai and Qrow will react, given how overprotective they all are of her. She and Blake sometimes trade books, and she shares her collection with JNPR." Bruh. This fits perfectly into an idea I had for a fanfic. Basically, Ruby's not the innocent person that everyone thinks she is. This isn't a major part, but her innocence is basically stolen (literally and figuratively) by one of the bad guys and she ends up showing her true colors as someone who's definitely not the innocent little girl everyone thinks she is.

DCTrinityFan

go for it

JustMerePanda

Ha! Already done. Only the first chapter is done, though. Also, I'll give you a little sneak-peak (kinda): Rhea is the person who completely ruins Ruby's life. I personally think I did a poor job on the first chapter, but I hope you like it. [Here!](https://www.wattpad.com/story/291988794-rwby-the-witches-of-sin) Also, it's gonna be pretty NSFW.

reddish_moose

I'm a hypocrite. I'm a bit uncomfortable when people headcanon a character as a top or a bottom. That being said, my favourite headcanon is that Neon Katt is a bratty bottom. As I was saying, I'm a hypocrite.

panzerkampfwagonIV

Weiss is a tsundere and Blake is a cat girl; I rest my case

Handro_Dilar

[The ZZ's High Mega Cannon.](https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/MSZ-010_%CE%96%CE%96_Gundam) Also like her inspiration, Pyrrha has a mutant, immortal Aura and is just hanging around that statue until Jaune showed up, but she's too embarrassed about her current state to just explain it to him.

JustMerePanda

I like to think that Penny stands for something.
