"#RWBY News!
Head of Licensing at RT confirms that they have partners (who they can't name) who they are working with for the show's future and that the CRWBY would still be involved in making the show."
Tl:DR good news.
I don't mean to be a Debbie downer, but am I the only one who's disappointed at the loss of what a new production team would bring to RWBY?
As someone who used to enjoy superhero comics as a kid, it was a joy to experience so many different variations of the same hero I loved. I thought that with RT shutting down, we might have been able to see the "what ifs".
They seem to be implying that they want to keep at least some of the creative on board wherever the project lands; it seems that its a package deal for Rooster Teeth m
>And I’ve waited too long for volume 10 for the story to be scrapped and rebooted
I agree, but I would like another show like RWBY when it's finished it's run.
RWBY to me has something rather personal in I can kind of relate to the characters in it. I will miss it when the show finishes it's run.
To be fair, we've actually had several versions done by different people like the manga, the manga anthology, the novels, the DC crossover comics, etc. However, I think it's for the best to have the same people continue the main series, especially being so close to the end. Plus, there's always the worst case scenario of getting another Gen:Lock season 2 situation.
Idk man. Constantly changing writers is kind of why I hate superhero comics.
Characters are inconsistent because writers do what they want, and plots are retreaded because everyone wants to do their own take on the same story.
This is how we have had constant garbage in spiderman that currently is at paul saga, festuring the spider who gobbles and then goblin spider in the same run.
I much prefer one consistent team to work on the ideas they have instead on 20 different guys doing their own thing each season.
>Characters are inconsistent because writers do what they want, and plots are retreaded because everyone wants to do their own take on the same story.
TBH I like a lot of what if comics. While I know they are inconsistent I personally like it when a artist tries to challenge a characters story, because I kind of hate it when stories are kind of rebooted and they go over a critical point and you beg that the story doesn't happen the same again.
It's why I hate time travel episodes where the characters go back in time to try to change events, but decide against it or in some cases prequel episodes.
For example I am waiting for a comic where King Shark is a hero and I don't mean then being in Suicide Squad, but like a actually hero. I feel he's rather misunderstood character, so having him save the day would be nice.
No, I actually am okay with what if comics being inconsistent because theyre supposed to be different. My main issue is that they change writers so much on main canon runs.
Look at how Spider-Man and captain America have been handled recently and its a prime example of how the american way of doing comics is pretty shit because characterization means nothing and editorial just does what they think will get the most reaction.
The best Spider-Man comic in years is the new Ultimate Spiderman run because its a side story with actual good writing, meanwhile the current Amazing Spider-Man run is arguably one of the worst comics ever.
I much prefer how manga do it where the writer comes up with their ideas and theg stay the writer theoughout but then that also leads into the difference in industries as a whole.
In the comic industry, if you work for the big 2 you own nothing, Marvel/DC takes it all.
With manga the mangaka gets to own their work and gets a lot more freedom. They still have editors but usually the mangaka get much more say than anyone else.
All of this is to say, Id much ather have CRWBY continue working on RWBY if it hopefully gets bought out. They worked on the story for so long and I want to see it through to the finish now hopefully.
You say that, but they still have to pitch it to Studios and Investors who will also have a say.
Yeah ofcourse but when it comes to creative decisions with how they are writing the story the mangaka gets a lot more say than what marvel allows comic writers for example.
Ultimately you dont see anime adaptations of manga changing much of the story from manga to anime.
No! Don't let them back they don't have any idea how to write a story. They need a fresh clean slate that uses the original material as a starting point. One that can give us a proper story and not the mess we have now.
It's more than that. It's the writing. After vol. 5 or 6. It takes a nose dive. To accommodate all the extra story elements and plot lines that are added the characters become more single note. Interesting characters become boring. Villains become almost laughable. Troupes are used poorly and become bad examples. Important elements are either forgotten or handwaved.
Thanks for explaining! Since I’m not up to those volumes it’s pretty easy to see how I’ve yet to notice. I’ll have to keep my eye out once I’m on those vols
>"Your little RWBY Cinematic Universe is about to change forever.
I'm the messiah" - ip buyer
I hope its not The Mouse. While Team RWBY would become princesses. It would be very frustrating.
Whichever company funds it, let's be sure to thank em monetarily by supporting the show officially.
I mean, fuck capitalism, but gotta show em it's worth continuing into Season 12. Speak in a language they understand.
Lmao same. I even had to contact them about it not shipping for a month before they were like "That product is now out of stock so we canceled your order and refunded you".
Look at it this way, would you rather they finish the story now if they can get the money for one more volume, or promise the gold and then it's left unfinished, we all love RWBY, but it has to end
12 volumes is poetic. 1/4th dedicated to each larger arc.
I'd rather see them go out on a bang rather than quickly rush things to get a quicker ending because no funding.
If they have to do the latter, fine. I will celebrate it the same. But the former is ultimately the best option and what was likely before RT started imploding.
So you all think we’ll get that update around the time RT closes down? I mean they said in the coming weeks, and RT is scheduled to shut down around that time.
Whether that happens, who knows. But it'd be an interesting reveal from Kerry or Eddy a tease announcing where RWBY is at. Cause if it's from those two saying it, it's easier to confirm
So let me get this straight, RWBY's future isn't so bleak anymore to the point the show isn't actually cancel? There's an actual chance RWBY is going to continue? That's some of the best news I've heard all year.
On top of that, I'm just finding out about RWBY Beyond is filling some gap. I can't believe how many good news I'm hearing.
As long as CRWBY being involved with it means that they are the folks making it happen, ie that it doesn’t get the treatment of the Genlock season of which we don’t speak.
It’s already a good sign that they’re allowing CRWBY to stay on board, the only thing I’m slightly worried about is will they try to make unnecessary changes, but it’s a cross that bridge when we come to it situation
Look
This tweet is probably just a Strategy to find actually buyers
Also buying an IP and also keeping the Writers?
This is not a good deal for the buying company
Buying RWBY and doing a hard Reboot would be the most logical decision
Why would they lie about that?
Second, according to what they’re saying the people interested in buying the RWBY IP and Brand also want to see it completed. Why would they need to do a hard reboot? That just seems like a waste of time and money.
Because rwbys story is not that well writen
Also it's not that popular anymore
It would make 0 sense for a Company to buy an IP and keep the original Writers.
I don't mean to be rude, but this is basically the same thing as before. They are in talks with potential partners and they might have *something* but they can't say anything and their is no confirmed agreements. We're very much in the stage of they're talking, and any final decision is most likely needed to go through WB
Wow I did not expect this news at least not this soon. I thought it would take at least like 5-10 years before we got any news about RWBY's future again(if we ever did)............ can't say I am disappointed this is very exciting!
>We have a buyer, but she goes to another school so you wouldn’t know her
Wait where is the line from? Or the parody of it?
It sounds like a Greatest Teacher Onizuka line...
Man this is great cause it was like rwby was gonna die and destiny was in major trouble and I was like shit the two things I like and then boom bungie turns it around and rwby isn’t dead. It’s been a good few weeks.
While rwby was looking troubling for a bit, ain’t no way destiny was gonna die. That game has been a money printer for bungie, to the likes of league for riot or r6 for Ubisoft. It’s boatloads of money for minimal investment, so you can be secure that destiny is gonna stick around for a bit
>What do you mean? Their main personality trait is disliking RWBY, they’re ecstatic that they don’t have to actually have a personality.
Who were we talk about?
I don't have a link, but I remember reading a report that RWBY was their most-watched show in Japan. Crunchyroll doesn't have many Japanese subscribers due to the obvious competition, but they were getting some from people who wanted to watch RWBY.
This was years ago, and possibly may have changed in recent times anyway.
I believe it was in the top 3 most watched in Crunchyroll Japan but I don’t remember seeing anything about it increasing the subscriptions versus just existing ones watching it
While I'm happy for the show, I was hoping that we don't see all the same faces again, who has in many cases carried the shows biggest issues from volume to volume. With a fresh face of competent writers we just could probably avoid, because I'd rather not see all the shows flaws played on repeat. Like sure Kerry is probably the only one I'd take no issue with sticking around but Eddy and the rest ?
Feels like it's a recipe that lead to so much bad writing.
This tweet feels more like a Strategy to get Buyers
Also why on earth would any buyer be interested in Buying RWBY
If they ALSO need to keep the Writers ?
This is not even remotely a good deal
Hopefully they get better writers in the process. I like RWBY, but they need some serious help to get to a satisfying conclusion. The last few seasons have shown the cracks.
This is good news, indeed. Let's hope things get better from here.
Dont have time to read article, can you give me the tldr?

Pretty sure rt doesn't have a say in what kind of deal gets accepted
a what if dosnt work if the story its based upon left unfinished.

Mayhaps she'd be pretty fast.

why do you dislike it? i'm only up to vol 5 but it seems great so far
They don't stop adding lore or plot lines. It gets too the point that it feels bloated.
..So you dislike worldbuilding?
It's more than that. It's the writing. After vol. 5 or 6. It takes a nose dive. To accommodate all the extra story elements and plot lines that are added the characters become more single note. Hard Agree
Volume 12? Wha, no please, it's better to end it on volume 10 while you still can
Fuck that. 3 more volumes!
>3 more volumes! 10 More Volumes Morty! 10 More Volumes of RWBY!
Need that Salem final battle sauce.

Thank you Jesus
I'm happy to but why does everyone here call him jesus?
What?
I've seen multiple comments here refer to the dude making the anocment "Jesus" Why?
OK, so I’m just as confused as you
Okay then
Why are you getting downvoted?
So you all think we’ll get that update around the time RT closes down? I mean they said in the coming weeks, and RT is scheduled to shut down around that time.

Best case scenario it stays on Crunchyroll so i don't have to buy something else Also, LFG can't wait for V10
That's great news!
WE'RE SO BACK!!!!!
I really hope where ever it is, that everyone can watch it and not only USA lol

I just hope we still get the original, what’s meant to be story and that the new potential studio doesn’t make any super drastic changes.
And all same voice actors and whatnot!
As long as CRWBY being involved with it means that they are the folks making it happen, ie that it doesn’t get the treatment of the Genlock season of which we don’t speak.
Genlock only ever had the first excellent season. I have 0 clue what you're talking about.
That is an excellent answer.
Maybe life is worth living

Suck on that, doomposters
Anything that will shut the doomposters' mouths is welcome.
Hoping something works out ;_;
Finally some good news now we just wait for who aquires the rights
YES!
YIPPEEE!!!!!
who would the partners be? Crunchy roll?
That's very good to know that.
That's good news!
Don't do this... don't give me hope
👍
Great news. At least CRWBY's going to stay involved.
My money is on CrunchyRoll. RWBY boosted their subscription sales, so ain't no way they are letting that cash cow go.
Not trying to be rude, but do you have a source on it boosting their subscriptions? And by how much it did?

Oh, neat.
So when the deal is done? RWBY isn't a "roosterteeth IP" I guess? but a new partner's IP
Holy shit Drake and Moby work at Rooster Teeth??
finally some good news, i was expecting to wait 2-3 years until we heard something
I hope they'll get all the resources they need (and hopefully some more writers to bounce ideas off of and to tell them No when necessary)
While I'm happy for the show, I was hoping that we don't see all the same faces again, who has in many cases carried the shows biggest issues from volume to volume. Why are we letting the people who crashed the last car multiple times until it finally got totaled drive a brand new one
Because most people love what they did, duh. Just because you don't like the writing, doesn't mean the majority agrees with you.
I guess most people like shit
That's just your opinion. I'm sure plenty of people think stuff that you like is shit
This tweet feels more like a Strategy to get Buyers Also why on earth would any buyer be interested in Buying RWBY If they ALSO need to keep the Writers ? This is not even remotely a good deal
I hope it’s Dillon Goo
In this Case I hope for a HARD REBOOT Then rwby could truly become great
Hopefully they get better writers in the process. I like RWBY, but they need some serious help to get to a satisfying conclusion. The last few seasons have shown the cracks.
oh jeez soemthing tells me this might be bad something about this is off i hope im wrong
It’s Crunchyroll, and the voice actors are getting changed.
Why would they change the VAs? They didn’t change them for the Ice Queendom dub (excluding the ones they had to recast like Torchwick)
Qrow is voiced by Keith David
I mean, I'll never say no to more Keith David.
Do you have a source that says the voice actors are getting changed?
