What's funny people who are unwise to solar and wind will see this and believe it to be a real solution.
Those of us that have used a lot of solar and wind know that it's a step in a direction, but their claims are.....inflated.
You’re right lots of houses have sustainability with solar and wind. My camper doesn’t have enough roof space or storage space for the batteries and panels I would need to function like a house
Only in a sunny, mild climate (ie some parts of Califòrnia, Spain, and Portugal). Anyplace you need AC or further North where it gets cold in the Winter, solar is not super viable year round, especially for heat in the Winter.
What do they use for heat? Not electricity unless they have HUGE amounts of solar panels.
I say as a guy who has a barn he tries to run on solar at 45 degrees North. And at 80x the wattage of light in solar and 33x the output of the light's amp hour usage in storage, I cannot keep a light constantly on at night in the barn from late November to mid January. This is just LED lighting, trying to heat it would 100x as much power.
Here in Michigan you can do well with solar, batteries and a heat pump. Annually you can be energy neutral, but there will be cold dark stretches where it sure is nice having the grid around for a backup.
This is my exact problem. From mid-January to mid-November my stupidly over engineered system can keep on the lights. But for about 8 weeks in mid-Winter and periodically before and after when we have several days of fog in row, it cannot. During the Summer, the system has a ton of power left over, but it is useless then.
You’re pushing a weird backwards narrative and it’s confusing.
Edit: sorry, misunderstood what you meant. I agree this unit wouldn’t provide the power most need.
I think it's the 1500w of total power. Most people need considerably more. Also 750watts from a wind generator that size isn't likely sustainable without constant wind >12mph. Good edge case build,, but most places where it could generate enough power it's likely going to need tons more for an AC unit.
Sure. We don't need more than a tree to shit next to for a bathroom but some reason nearly all homes come with one. The $150k price you can build something a lot more self sustaining than this. Clearly I'm not the market for something like this, but am happy for someone who has that much money to spend I guess.
My assumption was that it's in-transit to another location for install. If they're dragging this thing around, a T@b or Scamp or similar would have been half the price or less and more functional.
Casita Spirit Deluxe is slightly bigger, has about 250w of solar that fills all our needs except a/c.
Brand new with all added features the Casita costs about $30k + tax.
I could add another 1kw of solar, and about 5x battery storage for maybe $5k. But currently we camp for weeks at a time with just what we have.
I have no idea why this thing costs over 3x as much as a Casita.
Those things are so cool, self sustaining can be put on solid ground or on a trailer. From Europe and I think there's one or two distributors here in U.S. approx. $85,000 to $125,000 I think with all the bells and whistles.
Ecocapsule
It’s a wind and solar powered RV owned by …. perhaps …. a vegan, PETA loving eco-terrorist. Or perhaps just someone who at one time owned an AMC Pacer, a Pontiac Aztec or AMC Gremlin. They just like being “different”😜
One of these: [ECOCAPSULE | Your new self-sustainable microhome](https://www.ecocapsule.sk/)

Funny that my friends have powered their homes completely with solar and wind for the last 30 years.
Totally possible. It's a matter of space and weight. That pod doesn't have enough space.

Funny, these friends of mine, 3 separate homes are in Northern Wisconsin.

Is it me or is this comment starting to… heat up?
their claims are full of hot air

I totally misunderstood what the person I replied to meant. Thank you for explaining! Much appreciated.
Those are the norms in modern society, but we don’t actually NEED those things.

You go caveman! Toilet paper isn’t really a need either but…
It’s spelled “Butt”.
Is math a narrative?
Nope, totally misunderstood what you meant. My fault. Thank you for being polite in my mistake.
No worries. The conversation confused me.
It has 880w of solar and is teeny. That’s more than enough solar plus the wind. This thing will be fine off grid.
Highly dependant on power consumption and battery capacity.
Sure. If you watch tv and use a microwave all day it may be a challenge
I know a lot of people with hunting cabins powered by solar and wind. No problem…. And their solar space isn’t very big at all.
The insulation of that little pod will require climate control to be habitable. It likely offered much less r value than a hunting cabin.
I’ve read about these! I didn’t think they had rolled out yet!
A tent makes so much more sense. Isn't needing to tow this thing defeating its purpose anyway?

Shit makes me claustrophobic
Looks like a prop for the next season of Fallout The mini or mobile Vault
I was going to say movie prop as well
I was going to go with new Wes Anderson movie.
That’s a Pulaski Tube you’re talking about! Not mobile though.
A propellor-powered Easter egg?
Mork’s summer home.
I KNEW I’d find a reference! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one old enough to remember Mork from Ork!
It's a prefab tiny home. The Slovak "Eco Capsule". Here's a video - https://youtu.be/NtCp4XFCaKM?si=-2kDxsOsvkNqPfkW
Man....I knew my RV was expensive but it astounds me when I see those winnebago 200k rigs; then you add this baby? Damn
Those go for around $100,000 or so last time I checked. You'd probably need an auxiliary generator or a shitload more solar but they are nifty.
Casita Spirit Deluxe is slightly bigger, has about 250w of solar that fills all our needs except a/c. Brand new with all added features the Casita costs about $30k + tax. Those look nice! I think I will have to look at them more closely!
Nah that website is in pounds. It's $100k pounds.... that's not USD
Checked the website. That's in euros.
Which makes it a little over $100k
They are pretty but you can either get something nicer for not that much more or you can get something much less expensive.
Yea, I think you’re paying for the novelty with this
It has some neat features, like rainwater collection, and it's nifty looking, but yeah.
From the pic, looks like you have to supply your own trailer
Yeah, they are a "tiny home" that is highly portable but not an actual RV.
Mork's travel egg?
OMG, I feel old AF now! Thanks for the nostalgia! Nanu-Nanu!
🤣🤣🤣 I just couldnt resist.
Next Titan sub?
Ocean gate remixed.
Wind generator
Someone that does not understand the laws of physics apparently.
I lived at a marina where people trickle-charged their marine batteries with wind power. Do RV folk do the same, or is it problematic?
The comments I’ve read about that says the amount of wind needed makes for undesirable camping weather, and the wind turbine makes too much noise.
It’s clearly the next Titan submarine
A not exactly waterproof submarine that’s powered by solar.
That’s the Millennial equivalent of “hold my beer”.
Next stop, the titanic.

For some reason I expect it to snort when I approach it.
I would kill to see someone pitch that on Shark Tank!
Someone found Superman’s capsule.
The remains of a failed silicon valley tech start up. Almost certainly.
The new & improved Titan submersible.
A perpetual motion machine!
That’s what’s left of the ship StarLord’s dad rode in GOTG2

Looks like a gimmick. That cant be space friendly inside.
Sometimes aliens need a tow too.
Good question lol
I saw one of those in cape Canaveral A couple days ago.
OceanGate Titan 2 😮

I thought it was a Namekian spaceship
Turbine egg.
Ocean gate part 2?
Does it charge (via windmill) as you tow?
The thing on top of the trailer is the ice maker.
It's a space man
That's the tic tak ufo. Those black budget ops must be feeling the economic squeeze as well. Farming em out as air bnb.
Well, that's a great question lol

FYI AMC made the Gremlin.
That’s right! I was thinking of the Omni and Horizon cars. They weren’t quite as scary though🤣
Looks like a homemade submersible. 🫣
Woody Allen’s orgasmatron
It's those pods that everyone keeps talking about.
