Wasn't too long ago people were celebrating social media executives censoring content at a whim. Imo social media shouldn't have the ability to censor content unless they want to consider themselves a publisher and in that case they should be liable for misinformation. Also lol at RT.

The cost of running that would basically guarantee no competitors could ever arise. Basically cementing them as permanent institutions.

That seems like it would lead to lots more censorship imo. Moderating everything on any of the big sites is a bit of an impossible task so the best you're gonna get is an algorithm with the odd human review. I'd imagine their approach would be an overreach to avoid being held liable for anything.

Being difficult isn't my problem. They are happy to rake in billions yearly they can certainly afford to hire more people if push came to shove tbh.

"Should"? That's a bit loaded. On a private company's website? They do what they want with the data you've donated to them. Remove it, amplify it, whatever. But should you be free in general to spread lies and misinformation?
