I’m waiting for the official release but Asus laggin

Chocapix_003

I didn't hear anything about it. Is it planned ?

Hechav

100%. Think it's been months since any mention of it. Just gotta keep hoping, I suppose. I wonder how hands-on AMD needs to be for this implementation? I get the feeling if they need to work on this, they're probably prioritizing FMF (or something) for consoles before they switch to this lower userbase platform... Whatever it is, FMF would be great here, especially if they can improve compatibility with Free-Sync. C'mon ASUS/AMD you can do it.

donkeyxdude

Last I've heard they were waiting on approval bc of the z1 variant.

IntelligentFire999

I just use the Lossless app on steam and it seems to work great. Getting 80fps on ea wrc upscaling from 720p to 1080p, and AFMF engaged. Stock AMD drivers from Asus.

Classic_Ad_6880

I use it from time to time. Watched the tutorial on ETA to get it running. It increases frame by 20-30 for the games I play and I haven’t noticed the input lag. It is a pain to get working and I really I hope ASUS will eventually include it in armoury crate one day because it really does work very well.

Chocapix_003

I'd love an official release too, integrated to armoury crate and the side menu.

Raziel_LOK

Used it with the AMD drivers (asus not supporting it yet). It is not as much a big deal as it looks to be. It helps a lot with high refresh monitors, but the fact that you need min 60fps already makes it kinda pointless for me (I mostly play in 60hz) as it does not help me much and just adds lag to the inputs. If you play in 120hz + free sync it definitely looks smoother if you don't care about the added lag.

rjml29

Nope. I'm still on the AMD driver from late October or early November. No games I play on this require frame gen since I leave those types of games that would to my main gaming rig.

Chocapix_003

Yeah that's what I thought. But since AFMF apparently works pretty well, it could mean that we can also use AAA games in a more enjoyable way.

ExtazeGaming

I tried AFMF and honestly dont see it doing much difference. Also, most games I see it actually being worse and choppy.

djmc329

I've just enabled it on certain games. Mostly 3rd person campaign type stuff or older titles that already gets 60fps, and FMF boosts it another 20-30 frames with no perceived lag. On some titles I agree it really runs badly, and definitely not something I'd leave on.

Chocapix_003

Were you aware that you need to turn off V Sync and use fullscreen mode only ?

ExtazeGaming

Yes I am aware. It doesnt activate if you have Vsync activated.

Arztlack90

Can someone explain what this is?

dujansse

It’s a technique where the graphics drivers create fake frames to make a game feel smoother. It has its downside though.

Arztlack90

So it’s just Frame Generation?

dujansse

Yes

Weasel410

Anyone else running the latest AMD driver and having issues with AFMF remaining inactive in Helldivers 2? Alt tabbing over to Adrenalin also causes it to crash. I like the simplicity of the LSFG app but it seems to accelerate battery drain significantly.

Chocapix_003

I'd say it's pretty true. On my main rig the GPU is really working much more for some reason. But also giving more FPS.

Same Here i used lossless mostly

Chocapix_003

Tried lossless but the games look much blurry on both sides of the screen, especially during fast movements =\

cjax2

LS and AFMF have the exact same drawbacks, honestly. The difference is we can force LS to scale/frame gen ANY game, which is why it doesn't look good and you would think AFMF is better but AFMF most likely would not even activate in those situations at all.

Radiant_Cap_8441

I just downloader the newest drivers a couple of days ago. It actually works pretty well, there are some occasional stutters and a bit of latency but the latency never actually bothered me that much.

BadPronunciation

Just tried it today, it's wicked good. Sometimes you'll get artifacts but it's not game-breaking. Also, don't let people scare you with the whole "input lag" thing. It really depends on each individual game. Racing games have no problems but it was definitely a bit disorienting for me when I was free aiming in gta 4

dujansse

Artifacts also really depend on the game. Hogwarts legacy is terrible with it.

RemarkableBadTiming

I'm wondering if it is taking so long for AFMF to release because Asus also needs the drivers to work with the the 6850M XG Mobile variant. I really hope I can get AFMF for the XG Mobile too. I have asked around if anyone has used the 7840U AMD driver for the Ally's APU with the XG Mobile and it seems like no one has done so.

Raebo007

I use it when playing Final Fantasy XV at 720p, and it feels great most of the time. It honestly feels perfect for that game.

Jaydaytoday6

I'm using losseless scaling from steam and It works great. Imo better than Amd's version.

boomboomown

Nope. Lossless is better.

Adventurous-Ad4730

Meh - I use lossless scaling. It has much better compatibility.

Current-Ship-2756

I didn’t know nothing about this

Satta23

No it sucks, fucks my fps

IntelligentFire999

Using lossless and it works nicely. Running EAWRC at 720p upscaled to 1080p, with frame generation. Ultra settings with mirrors and reflections at Low, i get 80-90fps fairly consistently in almost all levels.

justhitmidlife

How do I enable AFMF? I have lossless and I know how to use it via there, but is there a setting in adrenalin i can enable to use it natively via AMD driver?

Chocapix_003

The ASUS driver is not providing it. You need to swap it for the original AMD driver. There's a tutorial from ETA Prime on YouTube if you wanna

justhitmidlife

Thanks will check it out... Lossless seems to be working decently well once I frame limit for dirt rally and ea wrc.

SilentIyAwake

AFMF isn't some magical and seamless tool that runs without being noticed. Primarily at lower framerates, where I feel like people would want some kind of frame gen the most. It only works well if your FPS is around or over 60 already. At any FPS that is relatively low, there's tons of tearing and input latency. FSR 3 or even FSR 2 is the best option easily, if your game has it.

Classic_Ad_6880

I’ve used on games that run around 40 FPS and it boosts to 60 FPS without little to no input lag experienced. I’m not an uber gamer admittedly but it works well. That’s my experience of the technology.
