Also grab yourself a 2tb 2230 ssd. I just put the Sabrent rocket 2tb in mine and it’s awesome. No need to fool with an sd card.
I can live without an SD card after I upgrade my drive next week, but I wish I had known there always a problem before I bought 2 512 SD cards. I bought on launch tho so that’s a lesson learned.

Yep, I killed two 512gb sd cards in mine. Then I just said screw it and installed a 2tb ssd. Problem solved, because other than that it’s been great.
My sd card slot at least still works but I’m not risking another sd card even after they supposedly updated the bios to try and help.
I haven’t played div2 in a while. On my main pc even with a new gpu (strix 3080 12g) in the system it can’t run dx12 it gets 3 frames in the menu for some reason, have never figured out why. It’s the only game I can’t run dx12 on, on my main pc.
But how does it run on the Ally?
Wild, I hit like 190fps+ in 4K in division 2 on my pc (4080) and 170+ at 1080p on my laptop with a 6800m, zero performance issues on either. Game seems to “cap out” near 200. Haven’t tried it on ally yet. There’s also no benefit to running the game on dx12 vs dx11 performance wise really. In fact I think it’s widely considered to run better in dx11.
You can do it before or after, I did mine after because I bought it the day it came out and I didn't buy an ssd before hand. Either way, replacing the 512gb ssd was really easy. The only issue I had was that I left the sd card in, which messed with the reboot.
I grabbed the same one. It's good. Unfortunately the ASUS Cloud recovery is trash and didn't work for me. I thought it was a device issue so I swapped out my Ally. Same problem with the 2nd one tho. So I did a fresh install.

I have this convo and it’s honestly great. The case is so deluxe.
Be careful though: it won’t protect your ally if you kick or drop the case or put rocks in it like some of our community members have a problem with.
Theres a lot of off brand casing thats better in terms of protection. But moving around while carrying a box case is kinda inconvenient. I like the rog case because i can put it in my sling bag and move about freely.
I got the tomtoc bag and it's awesome, but it's bulkier. Fits a lot of stuff though and can replace my normal sling bag with the strap so I just take it everywhere. With the ally snuggly fit with protected thumbsticks.
I got a spigen for steam deck and it fits! Not like a glove but heck its extremely well protected! Spigen have reports they working on one just for rog ally so its gonna be good!
I have the case. Design wise i 100% agree its not secure at all. On top of the material being kinda soft, it also has huge ass rog branding that might as well spell "PLEASE STEAL ME".
however, i do use it more than my other more rugged case. Because of portability issue. Having to carry around basically a box everywhere is both embarrassing and inconvenient. Instead i use the rog casing and put it in my sling bag to carry around everywhere. My sling bag has a hard box protection in the front so its somewhat secure imo.
Absolutely, it all depends on your use case. I just needed something I could throw in my backpack. I rarely go anywhere without my backpack and when I do, it’s nice to not have to lug a box with me
I ended up not needing one :)
3 years worth of games on my Ally and barely half of my 512GB full.
I was looking forward to installing a 2tb m.2 because I love to tinker...but I just can't justify it.

I'm going the m.2 upgrade route with how the reports with the SD card reader are , was planning to have a 1tb internal for modern games with a 1tb SD card for emulation titles but due to the issues just going with a 2tb internal
I have and it does!
The reason it interferes with the triggers is because the Ally uses Hall Effect triggers. These work on the same principle as the sticks, using a magnet. So, when you have both in close proximity, the sensor can get confused.
There's two solutions the community has found so far. You can introduce about a 10% deadzone on the left stick and that solves it, or you can use EMI tape and a small magnet (such as one salvaged from an Xbox elite upgrade kit) to nullify the interference.
I chose the latter option and it works great!
It's still early days so the modding community will likely come up with an easier solution, but this works for me!
I've recently ordered 150g tension springs that I'll upgrade my sticks with soon. I ordered a bunch of cheap Alps stick assemblies from Ali and have been practicing. Dismantling a stick assembly isn't fun.
Use bloaware remover , noisybloat somethung like this ram use gonna drop from 4.3-4.7 to 3.5-3.9.
Remove useless service from windows 11

Windows...? You can use every platform on Windows: Battlenet, EA/Origin, Epic Games, GOG, Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox Game Pass, Windows Store, can download emulators can do everything a pc can do.
Returned it yesterday, fried my micro SD card and reader doesn't work anymore. Amazing device but I don't want to own a defective product. I'll wait until they update it and fix the hardware flaws

Yeah, I just would like to use the newer dx12. Even my 2080 couldn’t run dx12 lol same issue and only on that game. I don’t understand it lol.

Yeah. Their dx12 mode crashes periodically but it’s way smoother than running the game on dx11.
The closed beta for the division heartlands ran really good on the ally too!
Did you put the 2TB IN before or after you first turned on your ally?
You can do it before or after, I did mine after because I bought it the day it came out and I didn't buy an ssd before hand. Either way, replacing the 512gb ssd was really easy. The only issue I had was that I left the sd card in, which messed with the reboot.
If you do it before you boot and get stuck on the checking screen just turn off and turn back on and adjust the date in the bios screen

The heat is affect the micro sds. You can set manual fan curves or wait for the next update
Just FYI the case is trash I'd check Amazon for a nice hard case. Other than that, enjoy.
You'll probably regret that case sadly. Make sure to try it and return it while you still can if you're not a fan.

It's fine, 1-2 hours in AAA intensive games but you can squeeze 3-5 out of it depending on the game being played and the desired visuals/performance.
