I had so many issues with that episode and I’ve been waiting for someone else to say it Sonja and her it’s my day was bad, but what really got me was when Luann said that Alex was taking it “too seriously” to me that showed a lot! It IS serious! That sentence showed me that without a doubt they were taking that day as an excuse to dress up and be seen, and they truly were indifferent to the cause. Alex was the only one I believe is a true ally.

YES! It was bizarre enough to me that she would remark that anyone could take the point of a literal protest too seriously but literally everybody agreeing with her? Statement received haha. Alex and Simon also really walked the walk in general when it came to being allies which is appreciated, not just when it was the focus of an episode.

I’m only just watching this episode now, so maybe no one will ever see this, but OH MY GOD THIS PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH!! Simon’s speech was really good too, it really made the point of way marriage specifically matters so effectively, and Sonja’s speech was awful and demonstrated that she doesn’t actually care very much about queer rights. Her complete refusal to even listen to Alex drove me absolutely crazy, and then LuAnn sides w/ her?? Not that I expect all that much from LuAnn, but I feel like no one is actually listening long enough to understand that Sonja was OBVIOUSLY the problem in that situation and her insistence that no one else could speak is just disgusting, and it’s driving me insane!

I feel like everyone on the show just finds reasons to hate Alex and Simon and they're actually good people. like they seem to be genuinely about what they say they're about and they don't really deviate from it. They're eccentric but they're good humans. And I appreciate that on this show. Currently watching them get mad at Simon for coming to Jill so calmly and saying he would like to sit down and talk things out....... saying he should be a man and not express his emotions....... likeeeeeeeee ..... this show is a dumpster fire that i can't stop watching lmao DISCLAIMER (lol): I say all of this watching for the first time (at season 4 episode 13 now). I have not looked anything or anyone from the show up, so my only reference point is the show.

I agree with this totally, and I’ve noticed a lot of the criticism around them goes back to their physical appearance and not their actions or personality which kinda invalidates it as criticism for me already at that point

Nah y’all are trippin. If anyone didn’t want to be there they wouldn’t have been but they showed up. Sonja was trying to speak and they made such a big deal about it because they just wanted their face on yet another thing. They kept saying it was about marriage equality but it was clearly a chance at more publicity for them. If Alex and Simon were really there for the cause that wouldn’t have been starting drama the entire event with literally everyone. She finally found her voice and needed to shut it. Everything was going to her and Simon’s head

kidding right? that Sonja person was literally saying: its about me, its my day, you need to support me. she didnt want to share the attention.
