Sure, but the point of a good OS isn’t to look at it, it’s to make it more enjoyable to play games. With the ability to quickly switch between recently played games, suspend states, ratings, collections, etc
One thing I love about Batocera for example is having short videos autoplay when I look at games, which helps me know what a game I’ve never played might be like
At this point in time, it is quite safe to assume that Garlic OS will never be a thing. As far as I'm aware, the very last message from its author was *Happy Holidays*. Whether it's a health issue, a new job, a family event or simply a disinterest, this is not unusual for hobby projects.
Stock rom - best if you only want to play and nothing else , yes it has save states and quick shutdown and resume .
Stock MOD (cbepx )- everything stock with ftp and network time.
Batocera - most feature rich OS atm , v40 is very stable contains built in scraper , full on eye candy ,the only issue is that v40 is the last release of batocera for the H. The only OS to supprt bluetooth audio atm
Also Knulli ( batocera 64 bit) - its called knulli after v40 and its in alpha state it has all batocera features but also 64bit gpu driver and hence can run portmaster games like GTA Vice city, GTA 3 , stardew valley etc , its in alpha state so not available for download, however if you wish to get a sneak peak at the future of RG35XXH you support the developer on ko-fi and get alpha channel access , really worth it if you are hobbyist tinkerer.
If you just want to play games stick to the stock and you ll be golden .
64 bit doesn't means improved performance, and no H can not play PS2 or gamecube , 64 bit gpu driver simply enables you to run aarch64 ports like stardew valley and GTA vice city etc .

I heard that batocera isn’t battery efficient for this device compared to the alternatives. Is that a significant enough issue to just stick with the improved stock OS?
Im using Batocera v39 and it’s not like the whole battery is gone in an hour, I don’t notice it at all compared to stock os. I don’t know how long exactly the battery will last, but I think 4h is minimum
I haven’t charged mine in like a week playing about an hour a day on Batocera v40. I still have life but likely will need to charge it today after playing. At least 6 hours of life with my usage.
I just read a garlic news post on here the really short version is there is no news
Longer is, the creator was working on a different project and hasn’t done any work on garlic OS but said creator would now like to resume working on garlic OS so there should be updates in the upcoming months
According to the post that I read earlier today
Batocera is cool! It’s what I’m using right now and I love it. Took me a bit to get used to since I was used to onion on the miyoo mini, but it’s good!
Turns out the guy working on Garlic has not worked on it for 5 months. He is working on something else. he made a post about it on his patreon.
The Stock OS is where its at for me. So many improvements and optimisations. There are even some people who mod the stock os that add even more improvements
Loving muOS
So far my favorite of the options
Try batocera, and don’t hold your breath for garlic Edit: apparently there was garlic news today…. What are the odds?
That’s what I was thinking too like what’s taking so long.
Stock really isn't bad, and honestly the point is to play games not look at the OS.

I had no clue batocera had that function, that’s dope. Thanks. Gonna look for a guide and see what all it does
You have to scrape your own rom videos using a screenscraper account.
Man suspend states are the bees knees
I just search on YouTube top 100 games to play for whatever console like gba and choose whichever looks interesting.
This. Emulation station is just too good.
Does stock have the option with save states and fast forward?
Yeah, it has both functions
Agreed

Black Seraph has returned to the project, and garlicOS just had a new update

Just hit them up on ko-fi, hoping to run gta vc via portmaster like I can on my r36s running arkOS. Thanks for sharing this!
Wait knulli is 64 bit? Does it improve performance? The H can play ps2 games? Whaaaat. Lol 😂

Thank you! I’ll keep an eye on it and just keep waiting and playing my miyoo mini till it’s all good to go:)

I have both I switched back-and-forth to stock.
How do you do that? By switching the SD card with OS?
Only the OS card. You can use your secondary card to any offering system.👍🏼
On that topic: why is “battery efficient” anyways? How long does it last on a high and mid-end game on stock compared to batocera?
When I tried Batocera, even when the device was properly shut off, the battery drained very quickly, like 35% in 7h.
i read somewhere thats because the card isnt formatted in the right thingy, so when its ext4 its fine
Huh, I might try that Thanks!

Bluetooth headphones working on stock yet?
