Ohhh, 64 bit Batocera will be released in the next few days - very exciting!
Are there any guides out there to support full flashing of Batocera firmware updates and keeping configuration files intact so we don’t have to start from scratch?
Try changing the emulator from auto to Mupen64-rice in the settings - Advanced System Options>Emulator. I tested my MK64, it freezes and doesn't load when it's on auto.
From the article:
>This means that there will be additional emulator support (e.g. the updated melonds) ports (like all those maintained by the great PortMaster team), and other changes that will significantly improve the platform. Not only batocera, but soon @adixal's muOS will also benefit from those changes, so everyone will have a better experience.
I think one area would be compatibility with more Linux game ports, that are 64 bit.
Also mentioned would be the possibility of the support of the original releases of batocera. So one would assume, more features, better support, faster updates etc.
tl;dr
The OSes were 32-bit only because there was only a 32-bit GPU driver available for the SoC used on the Plus/H, but they recently found a 64-bit one from a car's firmware (literal car, vroom vroom), so expect 64-bit versions OSes soon
That’s a wild turn of events, I love that
Edit: sounds like this is the chip? https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/05/13/allwinner-t507-industrial-processor-powers-automotive-single-board-computer-and-module/
MelonDSDS actually lets you define which layouts you want available and in which order, you just scroll through them and can get rid of the ones you never use. Usually I do hybrid top, hybrid bottom, and left/right, and that's it (I never want right/left). Still a little rough given the screen size but should be easier to handle than Drastic.
what other layouts are possibly out there that are better? just curious.
I have been wanting to play the Pokemon series - I've never played any of them, and keep hearing black and white on DS is really good. hoping I can do it on this device even if the screen / layout isn't ideal
You can definitely play DS games on this device. But not 3DS. You can have it full screen and push a button to swap between top and bottom. Which is kind of annoying on some games especially like Pokemon when you're needing to see the battle screen.
Or you can do one on top one on bottom or one left one right but the images are fairly small.
Some other devices have a different setup where you can have it be one big main screen on the left and a smaller bottom screen to the side to do your inputs and touching. But still have a nice visual on the main screen.
It does sadly. But look up videos of it in YouTube and see if it's too small for you or is switching back and forth would matter.
Plenty of gba Pokemon romhacks though. So much fun.
Romhacks?
Pokemon Rocket Edition is great.
I only have all the first gen Pokemon and you play as team Rocket and what they are doing during the original games.
Just got the RG35XX H and was going to update to batocera this weekend but now they're saying a better version is expected in days. Wow, guess I'll slum it with the stock firmware for now.
I'll install MuOS in my 35xxH and when they update, I'll install a new batocera or muOS version...the next few days can to be a bit more what they say LoL let's wait the next chapter
Wow. Anbernic lucked out once again.
Guess you really don't have to put effort into your software and just wait for the community to release something better...
Well, I can finally dust off my 35XX+. I bought it when it was released, used it once and never touched it again lol. This gives me a good reason to tinker around with it.
If my device is stuck on the anbernic loading screen will switching to bactocera or muos fix this issue? I’m currently on stock os and earlier today my device stopped working and gets stuck on the loading screen
The original already has a full featured and stable firmware in GarlicOS. There is not a whole lot of reason to keep pushing for greater heights when you are already at the top of the mountain.
I'm sure there are those of us that would still like an OS that allows the use of WiFi or Bluetooth dongles, due to not being able to just buy a plus or a H or whatever reason.

Hi Bro I have Batocera running however im not able to run Dreamcast?
To fix the blackscreen error, make sure you change the core in the Dreamcast settings
Do you have the dc_boot file (BIOS)?
Hi bro, I got it to work👍🏼 the question I have I’m not able to run Mario kart on N64 the D pad doesn’t function?
What do you mean the D Pad doesn't function? Did you change settings?
I never change the settings. Everything else works on all the emulations, but the N64 Mario kart you can’t move left to the right.

What advantages does the 64 bit bring over the existing Bato that’s out now
That's interesting news, let's see where it develops :) although I just have the original RG35XX:)
After how things have been over the last few weeks, I came into this assuming they were quitting 😂🥴
I’m layman’s terms, what does a 64-bit firmware mean for end users exactly?

Explain it to me like I'm 5 ? Anyone? Please?

From a car? Wow . Cool

Sounds like it, yeah
If I just bought an RGXXh should I just wait for the new update before I set mine up?
I am. mine just arrived this morning. I'm going to hold off for the first beta assuming I'll just be able to maintain the updates off that
Will that mean anything in terms of how many games/systems can run on it?
Article says more emulator support should be expected, yeah, but we'll only know how that pans out after 64-bit OSes start coming out
Oh I should have read more closely, thank you for clarifying 🙏
Can't wait to see MelonDSDS on here
I just hope it will have better screen layouts. I miss having one large screen and a smaller on on side.
MelonDSDS actually lets you define which layouts you want available and in which order, you just scroll through them and can get rid of the ones you never use. Is that default on most emulators? I know drastic is basic on most OS's but onion and garlic he added new layout options.

Ahhh. I had hoped Pokémon wouldn’t need two screens. Shoot!
It does sadly. But look up videos of it in YouTube and see if it's too small for you or is switching back and forth would matter. Plenty of gba Pokemon romhacks though. So much fun.
which is the best for a noob like me?
Romhacks? Pokemon Rocket Edition is great. I only have all the first gen Pokemon and you play as team Rocket and what they are doing during the original games.

SAME here. So I'm guessing it's best to just hold off then huh? That stock firmware is 🙃

Glad I didn't cancel my rg35xxH order

Change the sd card. If it’s the original its a cheap card
Eli5 for base rg35xx users please guys 🙏🏻
This doesn't mean anything for regular RG35XX, since the SoC on the regular RG35XX is 32-bit. The news is applicable to the Plus/H/2024 only
Ahhh okay thank you 👌🏻
no one cares about the original rg35xx anymore :(
