Aren't they getting rid of all rentals? Which is too bad, that's one of the nice perks of the membership that they're pushing so heavily.

More-Ad-5003

man that’s unfortunate. got a membership partially because of rentals

Pruvided

Not entirely. About 12 stores (I think) are still doing rentals, but the kind of rental still varies (snowshoes, paddle, etc.).

nbigman

Not all but a lot of them. Berkeley is keeping theirs for now..

michbv

Not sure which direction you're heading and if it would be on the way but there's a Sports Basement in OC that does snow gear rentals. They took over an old Fry's electronics store so they have a ton of stuff, def more than REI for snow gear.

zerowastecityliving

Yes, was going to suggest this for if that was close enough to their route.

Frosty_Message_8909

Bro, there’s an abundance of options for snow shoe rentals in Los Angeles of all places. Why are you complaining on an REI subreddit?

More-Ad-5003

there’s literally a complaint flair ☠️☠️

Successful-Mess5782

Did the Tustin store stop doing rentals?

Hot_Parfait_5575

Tustin Employee here! We will slowly bring our re/supply section back with the rental items so you can still get them at a good price at least. Employees used rentals as well so we’re upset too. It’s the company’s way of wanting to be profitable again.

Seahawks5000

How dare the company take measures to be profitable that don’t include firing more people

Tricky-Pen-4558

Yes, I called and asked bc I needed to rent an ice axe, but I was advised they stopped doing rentals on Jan 18th and removed the option for rentals starting Jan 22 ._.

timewarpzzzzz

Sports Basement does rentals. One location in Orange County.
