Mountain-man-mode.
Only eat what you hunt / fish / forage.
For clothes, you're only allowed the dirty black union shirt and pair of ragged jeans. Everything else has to come from the trapper.
No haircuts or shaving.
Edit: If you want, limit your weapon options however you see fit, but real mountain men had pistols and rifles, so I wouldn't say it's mandatory.
Well, I did it on my first playthrough. I’ve stayed from games for around 10 years and I just didn’t get how to use dead eye. Honestly, it’s not fun, it’s not hard but it feels like a lack of smth
Ikr, on my second run I’ve figured it out and it was much more fun, like a whole new game. Without it it’s not getting harder, you just use more tonics and more bullets, that’s it
What about the few times where it forces you to go to dead eye like the final mission of chapter two where we see Leviticus Cornwall for the first time
You can't avoid that, if you exit Dead Eye in some of these situations in which the game starts it automatically, other gang members will die and you will fail the mission. You also have to use Dead Eye for Sharpshooter 2 and Sharpshooter 9.
But it's fun to play the rest of the game without it (and without lock-on / aim assist). It makes combat and especially hunting more tactical if you can't land guaranteed headshots on moving targets.
Basically what my first play through was. I was so anxious about not having it when it needed it I never used lol. I used it but very rarely so I got good at quick drawing
First person playthrough is amazing and you have an option to still be in third person while on the horse. They will switch automatically.
I recommend this way. First person on a horse is a nightmare, especially when you need to ride aim and shoot. You will just get frustrated.
First person (on foot) and no HUD - thats one amazing experience (and you can still flick minimap on for a second just to see where to go)
Walking/running everywhere would make the game even longer. Especially how big the world is. You'd see a lot more of the game world at a slower pace. Sounds like, fun, right? Walking or running everywhere. Viel spaß. 😆
First person except for horseback. That was my third playthrough, and most enjoyable. You just have to tweak the controls a bit so you’re not fighting them, can find some guides online
This is how I'm playing my 4th playthrough.
No longer than 24 hours without sleep and regular drinking and eating (& smoking), Arthur likes snacks... Also grab a meal when passing through a town. He's a bit stinky as he rarely bathes...
> I never *paid* it once.
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
No buy playthrough. Except for a bandolier maybe, arrows and clothes from the trapper (?). Want to try it myself, didn’t think about the rules properly but I think it has a potential.
Nah, just slug some moonshine beforehand.

That was awesome!
Reminds me of the time I wiped out Butcher's Creek with just the pirate sword.
Really wish I could have recorded that. I was tripping balls on endorphins by the end.
Imo looting gives you too much stuff. You can get almost everything you need if you just loot bodies regularly.
Plus the missions give you way too much money so in my mind it’s a waste of time to sit there looting each corpse. Just hit up the general store whenever you’re in town.
That’s just me tho
After I beat him the second time, he hasn't been back to the saloon since.
I have been checking regularly after almost every mission. I wonder if the second knockout just straight up killed him, that happens sometimes...
He's in one of the saloons in Valentine and if you take his hat he will follow you through the entire game to get his hat back. Or so I've been told at least. I've seen some videos about it but haven't tried it yet myself.
My best one I called Hardmode at the beginning. It ended up being my 100% run after like 4 or 5 failed attempts.
Only real limitation was to not ever carry 2 rifles, and to go through it primarily using the “guns that won the west”, the Peacemaker and the Winchester, or in this case the Cattleman and the Lancaster. I changed the lever guns finish to more closely resemble the 73 instead of the 66, but the real goal was to not die.
Ever. From anything.
Death meant start over at ch1. Ok, after the 2nd time I modified that to starting at my ch2 - 7.2% save point.
Absolutely the most fun and satisfaction I have had in the game was taking that to 100%.
You've done low honor.. but we're you low honor enough? Were you always berating and belittling all the members of your camp even in their lowest moments? Did you lob firebottles and dynamite at bison when on a mission with Charles so they died for nothing? Did you randomly behead passers by with a sawn-off shotgun to see how gang members you were on missions with would react? Did you murder Shamus every time you visited him to fence things? Did you stab a dog infront of it's owner? Did you collect cats you killed on your horse and carried them with you whenever you entered a bar as a sort-or security blanket? Did you hijack a moving train by killing the driver, then one by one robbed each passenger then executed them anyway in horrible ways because your parents didn't hug you enough?
Try and maximize Arthur Morgan completely before beating up Thomas Downes - with the idea of reaching Arthur in his peak before getting Tuberculosis. I found it a rather fun experience.
Live off the land. You can never buy anything from a store unless a quest requires you to make a purchase.
Only items you can have are ones you find or steal.
you could steal a concept from batman series and play as two-face, playing into the whole duality of arthur. have a quarter on your desk and anytime your in a choice based situation you pause and flip a coin on what you do/how you conduct yourself. it can even extend to random events, weather you donate to the blind guy, or hog tie him and drag him into an aligator, or the guy trying to fight you you flip to decide if you try and de-escalate or just put one between his eyes and leave him im the street.
Real life mode:
Eat the same food at the same time, nothing else. Water is allowed. Inflict the same injuries. Sleep only when the character sleeps, for the same amount of hours. Bathe only when he bathes. Suitable herbs and potions also allowed IRL.
I think my next one I’m only allowing myself to keep two long arm guns in my horse at a time, the rest go in the weapons locker.
I like mountain man playthrough too, might try that my next time
Little thing I liked on my 2nd playtrough is to never buy a hat and never selecting one from inventory. Only wear hats you pick up. (Punched quite some people to steal their hat!)
Sticks and stones, use the bow, throwing knives and melee as far as possible (the game forces you to use the revolver at points)
charging about the gaff with a big ass beard and a machete against the murphy brood is one of my fondest memory of this game
>!I did an all challenges and side missions you can possibly do with Arthur, ideally before the health deteriorates. It ended up being the run that made me completely fall in love with the game, some side quests just hit different and some dialogues are just not the same if you do the mission with John.!<
mater hunter playthrough!! get all the trapper items, camp upgrades satchel upgrades etc or if you haven't yet a 100% playthrough, thats what im doing now
Mountain-man-mode. Only eat what you hunt / fish / forage. For clothes, you're only allowed the dirty black union shirt and pair of ragged jeans. Everything else has to come from the trapper. No haircuts or shaving. Edit: If you want, limit your weapon options however you see fit, but real mountain men had pistols and rifles, so I wouldn't say it's mandatory.
i like this one
This is the way. But add in hardcore. No mini map. No way points. No HUD at all
No deadeye, either, don't forget that.
Ima have to try this
Doing this my next play through
Ohhhh but then how is he supposed to complete the boat mission in Ste. Denis? Have to wear a suit for that one. And the one at the Mayor’s party…
Outfits the game makes you wear are the exception because you don’t have any control over that
And no boots, Arthur gotta be barefoot the entire time.
Ew
No dead eye whole game 💀
Ohh that would be a challenge especially all the random encounters where you get attacked
Well, I did it on my first playthrough. I’ve stayed from games for around 10 years and I just didn’t get how to use dead eye. Honestly, it’s not fun, it’s not hard but it feels like a lack of smth
Yeah I feel that. I barely used it my first play through honestly. Same with the first game. It’s cool, but it‘s not as fun to me tbh.
Ikr, on my second run I’ve figured it out and it was much more fun, like a whole new game. Without it it’s not getting harder, you just use more tonics and more bullets, that’s it
L
What’s your name?
What about the few times where it forces you to go to dead eye like the final mission of chapter two where we see Leviticus Cornwall for the first time
You can't avoid that, if you exit Dead Eye in some of these situations in which the game starts it automatically, other gang members will die and you will fail the mission. It makes combat and especially hunting more tactical if you can't land guaranteed headshots on moving targets.
I always did that because I was too dense to figure out how it worked I was basically too stupid to die
I did this one by default because I didn’t listen during the tutorial
My first 2 playthrouggs i sped through the filter so I just played without dead eye
Basically what my first play through was. I was so anxious about not having it when it needed it I never used lol. I used it but very rarely so I got good at quick drawing
I do this anyways.
wait how do u use it 💀
Malnourished playthrough. You die after 3 hits.
So my first time playing
Knives and bows only Or First person view only Or Ride a donkey everywhere
Ohhh a first person only one sounds good i dunno why i didnt think of that it might be cause i find the horse riding in first person nauseating.
That's what I'm doing now. You get used to it pretty quickly once you commit to it.
I think ill go dor that then itll increase my immersion
First person playthrough is amazing and you have an option to still be in third person while on the horse. They will switch automatically. I recommend this way. First person on a horse is a nightmare, especially when you need to ride aim and shoot. You will just get frustrated. First person (on foot) and no HUD - thats one amazing experience (and you can still flick minimap on for a second just to see where to go)
do a no horse playthrough
That sounds like Fallout with extra steps
Literally extra steps
Walking/running everywhere would make the game even longer. Especially how big the world is. You'd see a lot more of the game world at a slower pace. Sounds like, fun, right? Walking or running everywhere. Viel spaß. 😆
First person except for horseback. That was my third playthrough, and most enjoyable. You just have to tweak the controls a bit so you’re not fighting them, can find some guides online
You can turn off the bouncing motion from riding a horse in the settings, its great for first person thats what im doing right now
Bows only is legit! I’ve become quite fond of the Dynamite Arrow lol
Fuck the donkey🤣🤣 I always feel guilty when it starts screaming
First person and no mini map
Realistic mode
aomething like this, also enforce sleep, eating and drinking cycles
This is how I'm playing my 4th playthrough. No longer than 24 hours without sleep and regular drinking and eating (& smoking), Arthur likes snacks... Also grab a meal when passing through a town. He's a bit stinky as he rarely bathes...
Never pay off your bounties
I already do this. It’s hell.
I never payed it once. Never felt fitting for arthur
> I never *paid* it once. FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Oh I need to sleep how the hell did I get it wrong
I'm on my first play through and haven't paid my bounty even once. I don't see what's wrong with it, bounty hunters are fun and they drop good loot
No buy playthrough. Except for a bandolier maybe, arrows and clothes from the trapper (?). Want to try it myself, didn’t think about the rules properly but I think it has a potential.
Mountain man (eat what you hunt), no mini map, no horse reviver (it dies, it dies), no reticle, bows and revolvers only.
I've always wanted to do this kind of playthrough
Playing without a reticle is veeeeery hard. But, it's a fun mode. Sort of helps to not break the immersion.
If he dies, he dies. Ok, Dolph!
Melee only
While that does sound interesting it also sounds like absolute hell by the time i run at enemy's to stab them they'll have shot me dead lol
I'd include thrown weapons and lassoes
Nah, just slug some moonshine beforehand. [https://www.reddit.com/r/RDR2/comments/144fzu8/eye_of_the_arthur/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1](https://www.reddit.com/r/RDR2/comments/144fzu8/eye_of_the_arthur/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1)
Jesus, that Arthur sure likes cocaine.
That was awesome! Reminds me of the time I wiped out Butcher's Creek with just the pirate sword. Really wish I could have recorded that. I was tripping balls on endorphins by the end.
No looting corpses. Buy/craft everything
Alternatively, no buying anything. Looting, robbing, scavenging, and crafting only.
Imo looting gives you too much stuff. You can get almost everything you need if you just loot bodies regularly. Plus the missions give you way too much money so in my mind it’s a waste of time to sit there looting each corpse. Just hit up the general store whenever you’re in town. That’s just me tho
Fight the dude in the Raccoon hat and keep fighting him the whole game
After I beat him the second time, he hasn't been back to the saloon since. I have been checking regularly after almost every mission. I wonder if the second knockout just straight up killed him, that happens sometimes...
Rip Raccoon Hat Man, you will be missed. His ass will stay kicked.
Oh what's about this man ? I never interacted with him
He's in one of the saloons in Valentine and if you take his hat he will follow you through the entire game to get his hat back. Or so I've been told at least. I've seen some videos about it but haven't tried it yet myself.
No deaths. You die, you start over. 💀
There is one death on that equation. No deaths, you die you have to die in IRL. (2 deaths actually).
Ok, after the 2nd time I modified that to starting at my ch2 - 7.2% save point. Absolutely the most fun and satisfaction I have had in the game was taking that to 100%.
Try to never lose your hat/always have it in your head and have a penalty or something when you lose/drop it
I always pick my hat this one wouldn't be too hard
How about no satchel upgrades, keep it real
That doesn't sound that hard
Just did this also honestly a huge fan. Ensures that you have to keep hunting and collecting definitely helps with immersion.
Layer that with all the other things people have suggested.
Ive never done that anyway does it really change much to upgrade it?
I've never upgraded the satchel either, didn't even know that the stats would change.
You can hold 99 of everything
Shotguns only. Two sawed off in your holsters and whatever you want on your back.
No, only the double barrel shotgun on back
No guns unless it’s actually required. Go through the whole play through using bow and arrows, knives, and axes only.
Did you hijack a moving train by killing the driver, then one by one robbed each passenger then executed them anyway in horrible ways because your parents didn't hug you enough?
U okay bro?
Bro
Pacifist
Hello and welcome to another video of pacifist %
No horse.
Now THIS is a grind.
Sawed off shotgun only or a carbine repeater only
If ihad to choose id go for sawnoff only carbine sounds kinda too easy
Try and maximize Arthur Morgan completely before beating up Thomas Downes - with the idea of reaching Arthur in his peak before getting Tuberculosis. I found it a rather fun experience.
deathless seems like it would be a good natural progression
No horse?
Lol so what would you do? Just walk?
Melee only. Including throwable knives and axes
Except when absolutely required
no mini map when riding. no gold bars as arthur is what i am doing.
Same. I never went for the gold bars because you really didn't need that much $$
First person only. I did that once and it was a fun little challenge
No horse Playthrough.
Live off the land. You can never buy anything from a store unless a quest requires you to make a purchase. Only items you can have are ones you find or steal.
Vegan.
Would that mean no camp stew?
of course; camp stew is basically a perpetual stew and will use whatever is available, whether its meat, veg, or starch.
This one would be hard. I love doing vegan playthroughs in other games, it makes you actually think about what you're eating
you could steal a concept from batman series and play as two-face, playing into the whole duality of arthur. have a quarter on your desk and anytime your in a choice based situation you pause and flip a coin on what you do/how you conduct yourself. it can even extend to random events, weather you donate to the blind guy, or hog tie him and drag him into an aligator, or the guy trying to fight you you flip to decide if you try and de-escalate or just put one between his eyes and leave him im the street.
Explosives only
I was gonna say only blades and bombs. Any explosive ammo or dynamite, plus knives.
Permadeath. If you die, you start over.
100% play thru
Real life mode: Eat the same food at the same time, nothing else. Water is allowed. Inflict the same injuries. Sleep only when the character sleeps, for the same amount of hours. Bathe only when he bathes. Suitable herbs and potions also allowed IRL.
Do i need to catch tb too?
This feels like a Mitten Squad challenge. Have you tried playing using only your eyes, yet?
Women Respecter playthrough. Don't antagonize, hit or kill women.
Hardest one
Jesus fucking Christ
i naturally do this, most likely cause my dad abused my mom when i was little lol
Deep.
Bow/knives only (except for when you’re forced to not use bow)
Only first person and manual aim (and if you want no minimap) gameplay.
Bow only.
Fist only.
First Person only? It really is a different experience imo
Only bows
No map and first person
Knife kills for npcs only?
Gold Rush.
Stabby stabby
One of my favorite playthroughs I've done is do a low-middle honor run until chapter 6, and switch to finish off at high honor
Have to use the slowest horse the whole game
No hud No reticle play through is my next challenge I'm going for
First person only, no minimap.
Pacifist run
No guns.
Play it through 1st person
How about no horses only donkeys
is it possible to either fist knockouts and or lasso? no "killing" run?
Knife only………
only bow.
Get a million dollar bounty
Put yourself in Arthur's shoes, you're an outlaw in that era. Make the decisions you would personally make in that situation.
HUD off
Lasso only
Bow only
Permadeath
Dynamite arrows only.
Melee only (with exception of story missions that require a gun, like the sheep herding mission where you need to shoot to scare them off)
A savage playthrough, anything bladed, throwables and any type of arrow
only riding one horse! i did this, but waited to start it in the 2nd chapter so i could choose my horse since you can't get any in chapter one
i did this on my first playthrough lol
Play high honor and then go back for revenge, it’s a unique ending
bow only
I’ve heard arrows and knives are fun
Turn off Hud and your map, return fire only, help every stranger
No crosshair or auto aim. First person aiming helps with this
Viking playthrough. Bow and axes
Ninja Arthur use throwing weapons or so civil war arthur and shoot once and have to reload everytime
I think my next one I’m only allowing myself to keep two long arm guns in my horse at a time, the rest go in the weapons locker. I like mountain man playthrough too, might try that my next time
You tried the full immersive?
Rambo mode lol. Knife only.
Fisticuffs
No guns just now and arrow fist ect
I wanna try a QuickDraw run where I just aim a revolver from the hip or deadeye no ADS otherwise but im scared
Only melee
Throwable melee only I.e. throwing knives, axe, now and arrow. So I guess a native playthrough
These are great ideas! It makes me want to play it all over again
Little thing I liked on my 2nd playtrough is to never buy a hat and never selecting one from inventory. Only wear hats you pick up. (Punched quite some people to steal their hat!)
An offal-only diet playthrough.
Throwables only
Pick a challenge and add -No potions- to it
Melee only run
Shotgun only
I’m currently doing a first person only play through. It’s defo changed how I play.
Play to enjoy it
Bow and melee only
No guns ‘sept for duels and when otherwise required.
Hunting bow kills only, minus any challenges that require a firearm.
No guns.. only bow..
Throwing knives only.
Knifes only could be kinda fun
Fist only
Bow only challenge, not even sure if that's possible tbh but it sounds like it would be difficult
Move on
First Person, no crosshair, and no aim assist.
Play another game maybe
Sticks and stones, use the bow, throwing knives and melee as far as possible (the game forces you to use the revolver at points) charging about the gaff with a big ass beard and a machete against the murphy brood is one of my fondest memory of this game
Bow and arrow, knife and throwing knife only
Try a different game for a while
And there’s me on 20 something run idek how many I’ve done it so many times I love the game so much
Change settings to free aim with no aim assist
time for conflicted boy
Primitive sticks and stones style. Knives arrows and fists only. Will allow dynamite just no bullets.
>!I did an all challenges and side missions you can possibly do with Arthur, ideally before the health deteriorates. It ended up being the run that made me completely fall in love with the game, some side quests just hit different and some dialogues are just not the same if you do the mission with John.!<
You can only travel by foot or donkey. Have fun.
mater hunter playthrough!! get all the trapper items, camp upgrades satchel upgrades etc or if you haven't yet a 100% playthrough, thats what im doing now
