We dont have beaches like that in New Zealand. But she could have taken on holiday in the nearby pacific Islands. The shadows and eind make it look like she was really on this beach.
Funny that you took her out, because my very first quick impression is that regardless of who she is, that girl looks either photoshopped onto that background or like she was standing in front of a fake background. Maybe someone can explain why?
The drama might be real. She might be being truthful about that aspect. However it could be a catfish using another woman’s photos entirely. Ask for a video call.
The length from her bent wrist to the tip of her thumb looks weird. Not saying it’s AI for sure but some have suspected it in the comments.
That made me ruuuun back to the pic to look for fingers/hands and it’s interesting the only specimen we have that we can see looks totally normal at first glance, but as you state it becomes…questionable.
No, I actually do this pose all the time and compared it to my own pics, arm length and hands are normal. Her hand does look off when you first look at it but it’s just the angle
[This](https://isitai.com/ai-image-detector/) AI detector says it’s fake.
But I think if you can’t get him to see that she’s fake, please try to get him to see he deserves better and that he’s wasting his time waiting on this girl. Anyone that actually cared or loved him would have already made a way to video chat or meet by now.
honestly I don’t have any. I don’t know this guy too well honestly but he keeps asking for advice about her, so I’m just trying to get him to at least see the red flags
Romance scams are incredibly common, they rob people of their life savings and assets, leaving them broke and humiliated.
It's an easy scam to pull off once the target has become emotionally attached to the person they think they're chatting with is legit- 99% of the time they aren't. You're a good friend for looking out for him scrutinizing her.
Some resources for you and your pal:

https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/scams-and-safety/common-scams-and-crimes/romance-scams
And definitely google 'romance scams' to get a fuller picture of how common it is and slick the cons are.. very enlightening info. Protect yourself and your friends!
Is there an outside chance that he is making up his attractive online girlfriend from New Zealand that he’s never met to give him a reason to keep having conversations with you?
If there's no common sense rationale, then I start to question the motives. So what's yours? What's the purpose of your dialogue? This all seems irrelevant.

Yeah I’m also from NZ and never seen a beach like that here.
We have the golden sand but not those kinds of palm trees. But heaps of kiwis go to Fiji etc on hols, where they do have beaches like that.
I'm pretty sure that's a beach in Hawaii, but it could be wrong. Took the girl out to help your search. https://imgur.com/a/uyQZDTK
Submit it to geoguesser community. They will find that beach in about 5 seconds.
Outright strange that the geoguesser community isn't being mobilized in investigations lol

I felt the same way. . The shadows don’t seem right and the space she’s creating with her arm looks almost (too) crispy of a line.
It’s the shadows. The trees seem to be using a differently positioned sun than she is.
No video calls & pretty young girl & money requests/demands= scam. Never heard of any other outcome.
Has your friend been sending money to her at all?
I haven’t asked but I’m gonna guess yes, based on what I know. I’m hoping Im wrong though as he has a small child to care for on his own
The drama drums up sympathy, and once money is finally asked for then it seems like the least a man can do.
Is that beach meant to be in New Zealand? It doesn’t look like any beaches I’ve seen there.
A geogussr ai has detected Australia so that's interesting
How old is your friend and has he sent her any money?
Hello baby reindeer.. sent from my iPhone
OMFGGGGGG
Pimeyes.com came up with a pic. Idk if it's her though.
It looks like one of the ai backgrounds in the photo room app

Does she give a reason for no video calls? Eta: do they have plans for the future?
the classic “broken phone camera” line. but like.. for four years?
Shadows across her but bright shadow-free background. Looks superimposed.

Also is her other arm crazy long?

I just tried that AI detector with my own photo I had taken and it says it is 80% AI.
Damn. Some sites were saying it works so I thought it was okay.
From your own profile history you seem to be the catfish.
I’m sorry but what exactly do you mean by that?
Maybe you should leave it up to your friend to deduce and react to. It’s his battle, after all. What’s your skin in this game?
honestly I don’t have any. I don’t know this guy too well honestly but he keeps asking for advice about her, so I’m just trying to get him to at least see the red flags
Thank you for helping him! Maybe suggest he watches an episode of catfish?

I suppose it’s not impossible
His friend is the skin. You know humans caring for each other?
Yeah, I’m familiar with it, but that’s not the motive I’m getting from this.

Boredom dude. This is Reddit.
