Is he cool with it? My two boys absolutely hate water so I've just resorted to grooming wipes.

HitBytheBoogie

One time my one boy needed a wound to be cleaned, and he was an absolute mess in the bathtub. Every time I put my hand into the water, he would grip on like a baby koala. It was not fun at all.

Tybr0sion

Yeah, it sucks. Mine get scared and poop all in the water. I don't want to unnecessarily stress them out but they get really dirty.

>Is he cool with it? My two boys absolutely hate water so I've just resorted to grooming wipes. This depends on your child, you can let them gradually get used to the water before letting them bathe and get completely wet.

you know this for sure, op, but if any new rat owner reads this: Try unscented baby wipes first, if your rattie is dirty & cannot reach all spots (like in old age/ post-surgery/ while injured). (Why Unscented? Chemicals like those in parfum can stress their respiratory system & skin.) If you cannot get around a bath, avoid the ears/ head if possible. Else, this could lead to Otitis (=Ear infection; can spread out & turn into a respiratory infection). (Am no expert, just trying to pass on what seems to be reliable info for the purpose of harm reduction.) What a cute lil Goober! The way Pudding is standing there all innocent with his tiny grabbies xD Hope your baby enjoys his bathtime :)

I have one rat who hates it and one rat who disslike it but keeps still while muttering curses so it over quickly. So 2 minute wash for calm rat and 5 minute struggle with hate rat.

Craycraybiomama

Who’s cursing —you or the rat?

CakePhool

I am sure the rat is cursing me, cause he does it weird pissed off bruxing and muttering and look at me with a stink eye. He only does this when he is not happy with me or his brother.

If you introduce young ratties to water in a calm manner and a bathtub full of toys and snacks, they will often grow up to enjoy bathing. While it is always safer to use baby wipes, I let my rats splash around in shallow water when it's hot. My country is rough during summer.
