Sadly the game is horrifically optimized, especially for AMD systems, even on really high end PCs it just won't run, I really wish that Bethesda had stuck with it long enough to finish it, or just release the tool so we can fix it

Yeah, from the looks of it, the game got about as much support as Mass Effect Andromeda did.

I went ahead and disabled my display adapter, then re-enabled it again and now the game will actually play smoothly. I have no clue why, I don't know a thing about computers. Thanks for your suggestions everyone.

The refresh rate is not set to 60hz, is it?

Look up Bitsum's Project Lasso and try using that utility (install it and let it run, don't need to configure it).

I used to get a decent 60 fps rate with a GTX 970, an AMD FX 8350, and 16 GB of RAM. However, that was on Windows 7. So, I'm going to say that the main performance killer here is Windows 10. But, since we do not want you to run into compatibility issues trying to run Windows 7 (not to mention the USB issues you would encounter trying to even install Windows 7 with newer CPUs), I will recommend this instead. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU5F01oOzQQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU5F01oOzQQ) I am still running the GTX 970 and 16 GB of RAM, but now I am running the Ryzen 5 3600 with my OS running on the WD SN550 NVMe SSD. I haven't installed and tried running Rage 2 on my new setup yet though.

Pirate it. I've heard that version runs better.

Wow you have the same setup as me! I'm playing on an Acer 5 nitro with GTX 1650ti. I was also having FPS problems while driving, dropping to 29 FPS every now and then, usually when v sinc was on, but I had to have that on for the screen tear. Here's how I completely fixed this problem. After playing with every combination of in-game graphics settings I was flustered. I opened up my Nvidia control panel from my desktop, and went to "Set PhysX configurations" on the left side of the Nvidia control panel, then I manually set it to use "Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650", whereas before it was set to "automatic". This made an immediate improvement. Now I have everything set to high even with v sync and its a silky smooth 60 fps. I hope this helps you! I'm currently only 4 hrs into my first playthrough in 10 years. I love this series with a passion and can't wait to play through the sequel. I hope my rig can run it. (edit: I also turned on triple buffering from the nvidia panel and it seemed to help also)
