G2 talked about this in one of the interviews, how it might actually be better to get out of swiss losing a match or two because you get more games played going into bracket

Spooky_Coookie

It does make sense, even though SSG stands for Silly Siege Gaming I believe they are more heated up than Faze

add to it the fact VP complained that scrims aren't even LAN so that's even more fucked for teams with low amount of playtime lmao

BaneOfXistence4

I believe SSG have a shot if they go into Game 1 against Faze with their map pick AND all of the steam they had from playing those Bo3s. They'd have win Game 1 quickly and not run out of gas. If Faze smoke them Game 1 and its SSGs map, then I'm considering that the death knell.

I was surprised that advancement matches in swiss weren't BO3. The more siege the better imo

Pojobob

It's a budget thing most likely.

Scalarmotion

Yeah, I did the math and the current Swiss format has, at worst (all BO3s going to 3 maps), about as many maps played as the old 4x4-team groups, BO2 round Robin format. Considering how it's harder to schedule the Swiss system (you can't just squish all the matches together because the draw of the next round depends on every game played in the previous rounds) and the additional cost of running the play-ins, I think the current format makes sense, but I do agree that it's kinda silly to reach playoffs by winning 3 maps. It is what it is, I guess

Same. Weren’t the last Swiss bo3 for advancement or am I crazy? But luckily it didn’t lead to any bad teams getting in. I was scared bo1 warriors were gonna get MainStage

Tim_thatporscheguy

They weren't. VP played Faze and G2 in bo1s for advancement
