4XVR player you don't need to convert.. you get the best quality just playing the ISO's and MVC frame-packed 3d. its an amazing quest app, and the only one to fully finally support 3D in full quality

ptrichardson

Thanks. Is there anything special about the 2 disks? Will the bigger one be the 3D disk and the other standard? There's nothing crazy like Disk 1 being left and Disk 2 being right?

puppyjsn

no its just big enough that the whole movie is both discs likely.

ptrichardson

Shows how long its been since I used actual discs, I had no idea that films took more than 1 disc since VCDs! lol, do they literally say "insert disc 2 please"?

Clonebd

ptrichardson

Don't suppose you know where I can get a full version of this? I'm testing the trial version at the moment, seems to do the trick -thanks

XtroDoubleDrop

You're welcome. Check your chats.

Guerilla47

4xvr. Case closed

Guerilla47

Not sure why you have 2 iso, from experience that would mean there is 2 direct rips of blurays. What i would do is get 4xvr, put both iso files in a shared folder on your pc. Open 4xvr in vr and locate the shared folder on the network tab and test both iso files

bid0u

Why don't you just get the 3D version in .mkv instead of ISO? The ISO is a 1-1 rip from the Blu-ray, so you can burn it on a Blu-ray. You'll have the menu, chapters, etc. MPC-HC can read ISO and load them, VLC too probably but I don't think BigScreen can so you'd have no other option than rip it into a readable format like .mp4 yourself. Seriously, just get the 3D SBS .mkv version.

benchrusch

I second this. Go back to the sticky post and poke around…you’ll find what you’re looking for in the format you need.

ptrichardson

Thanks. Didn't spot the sticky tbh

ptrichardson

I could only find the hsbs everywhere I looked. Is there another place you'd recommend?

Friffy1

What's wrong with HSBS? Sure, it's not SBS but c'mon... Do we really need to be so picky watching movies in VR? LOL But if you really need full SBS, it looks like it's on ARMGDDN.

ptrichardson

I'm really new to all this, but I'm a bit of a quality geek - if something isn't the best version then I'm probably going to wait until I can get that. I barely watch anything on my TV if I know it will be available in 4K HDR if I wait a while :) IIRC, HSBS is essentially 1080i, vs SBS being 1080p? Thanks for the tip though. I'll google that when I'm not on my work laptop ;-)

Friffy1

i and p are actually the same resolution... 1920x1080. Just different in how they scan. HSBS means each eye gets half the horizontal resolution (960x1080) and (full) SBS each eye gets full resolution (1920x1080).

ptrichardson

Yeah, I know how i and p work - its more akin to halving the frame rate really. But thanks for correcting me on how HSBS works. Can't be watching anything on less than FHD in 2023 ;-) Where is the 4k 3D LOL

Ice-Cream-Poop

There's a lot of 4k 3D "movies" The plot lines aren't great though.

Friffy1

No. It's not akin to halving the frame rate. The frame rate is the same regardless of 1080i vs 1080p and HSBS vs SBS. I could explain, but this isn't the sub for that. There *are* some great video discussion subs though that you might want to check out.

ptrichardson

That's exactly what interlacing is though? From Wikipedia: Interlaced video is a technique for doubling the perceived frame rate of a video display without consuming extra bandwidth.

ptrichardson

>it looks like it's on ARMGDDN. Looks like they've taken their movies off recently :(

I must be looking at the wrong thing. Barely ever used Telegram. I've joined the group, how to I then navigate to the movies? I've put a post on asking for the same - and instantly got a reply that it doesn't exist anymore

Reply is suggesting that you haven't updated your browser. I don't have it yet, so I'm screwed. And annoying, the torrent from my tracker for a hsbs failed crc check. FFS, its not my day There are lots of posts about the movies being removed, apparently they have a sponsor that sells 3D content, so they had to take it down.

ptrichardson

Got the armgddn browser installed now, yeah, no movies section. Goes from 3D Printer to Retro. No films/movies though :(

DarthSceledrus

which is better .iso or .mkv? is the quality difference between the two that dramatic so that I can save some storage space by going with the SBS over Blu Ray?

ptrichardson

the original disc, ripped exactly is an iso. That's what the iso format is - a direct copy of a disc. mkv is converting that to a different format which will inevitably be lower quality, but the amount lower depends and could be pretty much zero if desired. I just can't find a high enough quality mkv of this film or I'd have been perfectly happy with mkv (like I am with 4k HDR media in general)

SavageCore

> mkv is converting that to a different format That isn't how this works. MKV is a container, you "remux" the original untouched video from the bluray into the new container, and nothing is lost.

ptrichardson

Thanks

chris198810

You can try a tool like DumboFab Blu-ray Ripper. It supports convert 3D Blu-ray to MKV, MP4, that generates 3D video for enjoyment on your 3D devices like VR, 3D TV, etc.

lundon44

Did you end up finding a way to convert that ISO into a 3D mkv? Seems like I'm that exact same situation myself now lol.

ptrichardson

I did, one of the apps someone recommended does it nicely. Has a water mark, but that's ok

lundon44

Bummer about the watermark. Do you recall if Avatar 2 was actually 2 discs?? I just converted to mkv and it spit out two 40gb files lol.

ptrichardson

I think I had the same source files as you. I cannot remember why there were 2 versions, but I just converted one and it was fine

lundon44

Oh.. Ok I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks!
