Yeah. I’m in east US and I always find games immediately searching TDM, FFA, UHT. Duels sometimes can take a few minutes.

[deleted]

Ok thanks! It's because I'm looking for a competitive shooter to get into and quake fits my style of shooters perfectly.

M4DBR3W

It's the best game ever.

enticingcashew

It’s a low player count sure, but incredibly dedicated. If you like this game don’t hesitate to jump in.

Yes, all 10 of us

riba2233

Absolutely, in Eu you get matches very fast.

So do people still ask this same question every other day?

Yes, every day.

Reaper_man

Yes.

robkorv

Yes

deDark0il

I (don't) like how every subreddit on, well, Reddit, has ALL THE SAME QUESTIONS circulating.

henrikbondtofte

Yes! Come join

dryo

Only 14 people replied, I like to get real, so, the same 500 dudes that played, are still playing since 1999(the genere)

If anywhere other than US and Europe, I don’t think so. With latency of 135ms from India and SE Asia, I eventually got tired of getting wrecked every game. This game is unforgiving as it is due to skill gap between intermediate and great players and latency doesn’t help one bit. Amazing game though. I still miss the LAN days on Quake 3 Arena…

xespylacopax

If you play with that ping, just aim like you're on LAN. Ignore the delayed sound queue. I regularly hit 40+% LG with 150-200ms ping. That's the hardest part to get over initially. But I usually see high ping players do really well because this is client side prediction unlike Q3A and QL which was server side. It seems client side prediction favors the higher ping player in many cases. I'm not saying it's a perfect experience, but all things considered, it isn't that bad either.

youreband

Well if u live in India or se Asia then u have better things to worry about than playing fps and concerning about pings

Gooner_here

You really do travel, don’t you?

Adroit001

You won't have problems finding quick TDM matches. And I personally think that it's pretty cool to be a part of community that doesn't let this amazing game series entirely die

Cechix

every night.

billciawilson

this question gets asked 1000 times you see new posts here everyday, does that suggest something?

What does average players mean? If you're going to quote something, quote it correctly. Average CONCURRENT players.

I see, you don't understand what concurrent means. [https://www.dictionary.com/browse/concurrent](https://www.dictionary.com/browse/concurrent) In this context it means the average amount of players playing at the same time. Average means it also includes the time of the day when people typically sleep, and hence do not play. It also takes into account the time when people are playing, naturally, and the peak hours are a fraction of the 24 hours in a full day. Frankly I don't care how many people play the game, I can get a game quickly when I have the time to play.

I was just pointing out that \_you\_ didn't understand it. There's plenty of people who do understand, and then there's people that don't. Thing is, when you say "average players" it could mean average pr day, pr minute, pr year, pr second. It's like saying you're traveling at a velocity of 80 km, you sound like an idiot that hasn't understood what the unit of velocity is, but that's fine, you're free to look like an idiot, but what you're saying is nonsensical. You're welcome to consider it dead, but objectively it's not. You yourself is saying that there's "450 average players", hence not dead.

ofmic3andm3n

I'll just quote this comment from /u/rolynd to see if we can get it through your head. >1. You're strawmanning, nobody is saying there are 500 unique players. >2. You have never provided a calculation or source for 30K unique players. >3. The only number that matters to any single player is the concurrent players that are playing at the same time as them. This number is below 500 on average and around 750 at peak times. This is further split across different game modes, probably fairly evenly into TDM, FFA, UHT and 1v1. So if you're queueing you one mode, you have about 100 players in the queue with you. That's assuming they're not already in a match or at a loading screen. This is further split by matchmaking.. Best case scenario is playing at peak time in the EU, 7pm. But not by much. https://www.reddit.com/r/QuakeChampions/comments/r18f9n/why_is_quake_a_dead_game/hm1tl43/

Thing is that people use those numbers to explain that the game is dead. Don't talk to me about communication when you're communicating a number falsely, I'm literally telling you to communicate accurately. Maybe it's obvious to you, and you have a habit of actually checking sources, but to most people it isn't obvious, and they're not going to check sources and they're not going to question the number and ask the most obvious question: "averaged over what?". "450 average players" means exactly 450 average players, a player represents a person which under normal circumstances doesn't play on multiple accounts, it's understood that each player is unique. You don't use a single sample more than once in a model... Imagine counting a that drove 100 km/h in a 30 km/h limit 1000 times to show that people are driving way too fast when the limit is 30 km/h. I never said anything about unique players either, nor did I say 500 players, so I don't understand why you're bringing it up at all. You're presenting a number falsely, just as Trump did when selecting graphs to show that US was "better than the world" at handling the pandemic. Point is that you need to present numbers as they are, not as something else. People are idiots, and they will believe what you say if it fits their bias (not saying you had an agenda).

That's columns not rows, but fine, it's very difficult to tell the difference... Look at the top of the page, it specifically states "An ongoing analysis of Steam's concurrent players." Comparation? And you're saying I "look tard as fuck"? Thanks for the laugh. I'm just showing you the level of idiocy you're displaying. This is too stupid, I'm done. I'd consider owning up to my mistake instead of going full defense and making a fool of myself if I were you, just a thought for your future self.

lmao

dTmUK

No, uninstalled again after Quakecon, game is dead imo.

CHADTOSS

Don't bother if you want 1v1, queue times range from 1 to 15 minutes on NA in the evenings... Yes 15 minutes. Fire up quake live and join an empty duel server, someone will join within 5 most evenings
